"It's not in my hands," the actor told IGN when asked whether there are any plans for his character to return in the rumoured sequel to 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

"It's a studio thing. People liked the character, it seemed like people liked the character. And I'd love to do it again, but I think the storyline that they're going to go with is in Japan."

"I think part of it, I don't know - I try not to second-guess the studios, but I feel like sometimes when they make a sequel they have to have a new villain," he added indicating that he at least thinks it's unlikely we'll see him back next time.

"I haven't even seen the script!"

Worst thing (actually two things) about Origins: the fact that Sabertooth actually DIDN'T viciously murder Wolverine's girlfriend and the gay-ass team up against Bizarro Deadpool. Blow everything up and start again. This Japan saga will be one of the worst movies ever made.

he was cool as sabretooth. i really like his performance. and in the comics silverfox didn't die either. she faked it there too.

Maybe a cameo would be nice.

Explain how he goes all Tyler Mane

He was the only decent part of an otherwise awful movie. (although Hugh Jackman was great as always despite) In all honesty, I'm not in the least bit interested in the sequel as you can almost guarantee that it'll be yet another Fox flop. ;(

The faking of Silverfox's death was in the original continuity. They were both replaced with memories that made them believe that Sabretooth killed her. Anyways they could introduce him in Japan. After Wolverine trains with the Samurai he travels through Tokyo and tries to track down this serial killer who is killing Japanese prostitutes. It turns out to be Sabretooth.

yeah seriously right? i mean how can you have tyler mane sabretooth and then in the prequal he looks absoutely nothing like that at all. i did like tyler mane for the physical aspect of sabretooth

MarsAmbassador - Totally agree! Schreiber WAS the only decent thing about 'Origins'. If they're going to do it, do it right or not at all! And while they're at it, they should enroll Jackman in some martial arts clases - this 'hack, slash, thrust' crap is just pathetic! People, this is Wover-@$#-ing-ine' we're talking about here, not 'Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD'!!

To be honest I would like to see a Sabertooth that's much bigger and hairier. Tyler Mane would be cool to have as a cameo at the end in the next movie meeting with Magneto.

Liev was a great sabretooth. It would be cool if they could get him to do a cameo in an iron fist film. Bring him back! Silver samurai and sunspot!

Liev Shriber was amazing as Sabretooth. That psychotic grin of his just bled visciousness.

I liked Origins. Sabretooth was great. It would be weird if they go forward with the sequel since First Class is supposed to be a reboot, and Origins 2 will have the same continuity as the previous X-Men movies.

Silver Samurai and Omega Red would be awesome villains!!!

and a very, very slight Deadpool (NOT Barakapool) cameo would be great, because didn't he train in Japan as well? Also, HOW DOES LIEV SCHREIBER BECOME TYLER MAINE IN X1?

imnotwearinghockeypants - 7/13/2010, 3:47 PM
Agreed, Shriber was decent as Sabertooth, but whether it was in the comics or not, the murder of Wolverine's lady should've stood. And no retarded team up. Blow it all up, start over in 5 years.

Wolverine 2 should be a reboot. The first one was horrible. I think it got a 35% in RottenTomatoes. If true, I wouldn't be surprised. The part where he's walking away in slow motion from an explosion without even looking back oozed so much cheese. Making both Sabertooth and Wolverine as brothers sucked even more, and why didn't "Sabertooth" look like Sabertooth? Don't even get me started on Deadpool shooting lasers from his eyes.

from a comic fans perspective i didn't like the first movie, if they had just gone with the first Origins graphic novel it would have been awesome.

Dear Fox, stop trying to throw as many notable mutants in the movies as you possibly can. Stick to the coninuity, the comic is beloved for a reason. Wolverine and Sabretooth hate each other, there is no friendship, there is no teaming up, one sees the other and rage takes over.
Now, if you want to make a truly great Wolverine movie, pull a sin city and go pretty much box for box from the Wolverine in japan storyline. That had samurai honor, wolverine brutality, romance, and an actual point. It set the precedent for what the character is today...a broken man, struggling between his feral nature and a code of samurai conduct. We will go watch that movie, i promise.

no no no....its stupid to go and build the japan ark on something so ruined as the first movie..no way.
chopfer15
chopfer15 - 7/13/2010, 4:57 PM
the japan arc sits on its own...the only thing that is continuous is Wolverine himself...no stryker, no deadpool, no x-men, no sabretooth. it is a completely self-contained story that has absolutley no ties to other movies. that is why it would be perfect. you don't have to stick to some of the retarded things they did in the past. Just give us one more hugh jackman as wolverine performance and make it the Japan arc. It would be perfect. He kills the bad guy and gets engaged...the end...
chopfer15
chopfer15 - 7/13/2010, 4:59 PM
oh, and absolutley no extra mutants. that is a necessity to make the movie like the comic. he is the lone warrior fighting an army of ninjas, for honor and the love of his women. make it more like a ronin movie than a comic book superhero movie.

do that, and all will be well.

is the sabertooth in x-men supposed to be the same as the origins sabertooth and if so....what gives?
KeithM
KeithM - 7/13/2010, 5:59 PM
Face. Bovvered.

They're going to have to come up with something pretty [frick]ing amazing to tempt me with a follow-up to that piece of crap.

Note to Fox: If you're going to idiotify the story and screw around with the characters to the point that we just don't care any more, it doesn't matter if it's set in Japan (or the Savage Land or Genosha or even the Shi'ar homeword) - we won't care if it's shit, no matter how many of our 'fave' mutants you cram in, no matter how sexy you make Wolverine's hairdo or how cool his jacket looks.

Get somebody in who really knows these characters to either write, joint-write, direct or at least to act as "expert" consultant (but actually listen to them). And not your Avi Arad toy merchant types, but you know, actual Wolvie/X writers/editors - the people who really know what makes him tick - and what makes him popular.

That is if they can convince anyone with any integrity to work on their shitty, watered-down, [frick]ed up, solely for the money bastardisations of these characters and stories (kudos to Bendis for turning down the Venom job for I suspect that very reason, even though that was Sony in that case).

Not impressed with Fox's recent track record, not expecting much better from their future output, although I always hope to be surprised. Could happen. If a sperm whale can turn into a bowl of petunias, then Fox could make a good cbm I suppose. ;)

disagree completely Sabertooth in Wolverine XMO was better. i agree Sabertooth's look was better in X-Men 1 but acting wise Liev Shriber put on a great performance. He was more believable villain.

Wolverine has always been my favorite character, but origins sucked bad. in the first place, why the eff would u cast somebody 6'2" for a character who is 5'3"? thats part of the appeal! a little guy who is tough as hell!
odie00
odie00 - 7/13/2010, 9:20 PM
wolverine was originally 5'3, but i think after a certain point they made him officially 5'8 but not completely sure.. but either way yeah jackman is too tall but then again cristian bale is too short to play batman. and liev is too short to play sabretooth. i mean if you want to get technical about it. and yeah i like sabretooths appearance in the first xmen movie. i didnt like the way he looked in origins but as for the performance sure it was better in origins but i still didnt care for him as sabretooth. acutally i didnt care for a lot of the characters they ruined them. even agent zero who is actually maverick. why was he asain in the movie again. maverick is badass in the comics i liked him in team x.

I liked Username's suggestion: "Maybe He can appear at the end of the film, but Wolverine fails to recognize him, ....only smelling a familiar scent... "

I like that. It could work if done right towards the end, so that it really does not affect anything to do with the story. Silver Samurai would also be cool, but then again ... It's Fox we're talking about. Their bound to fcuk this up ...
