Take A Look At Hugh Jackman Getting Ripped For The Wolverine!

A new picture of Hugh Jackman as he is heading to the gym for his work out for The Wolverine. He's definitely putting on pounds of muscle for the role!!

Jackman is apparently on a 6000 calorie a day diet that was recommended to him by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

"Basically it's steak or chicken, broccoli and cauliflower, and sometimes rice but only up until lunch time," he explained. "That's it eight times per day. It's like a job in itself."

Jackman and Darren Aronofsky have both previously stated that Hugh will be getting more ripped for this film then he previously did in the other 'X-Men' films in order to look more like the Wolverine in the comics, and judging by this picture, he's certainly accomplished that.

"Darren said with the last one, ‘Hey you looked great, but you’re so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that’s not Wolverine,'" explains Jackman. "He said that Wolverine, in the comics, is powerful, stocky, you know, he’s short and thick. So he said, ‘I want you to go there, get bigger.’"

It's been stated that the last time Jackman portrayed Wolverine that he weighed in at 190lbs.

“Right now, I’m at 210,” Jackman says of his current weight, the result of an intense diet and workout regime. “It’s 6,000 calories a day. It’s rough.”

This is one Fox movie I feel like I can put a lot of faith on.

Hugh Jackman has always been really good, and the director is just awesome. Seeing as they're trying to stick to source material more so than ever with this, we could be looking at an extremely good movie

idk whether it'll be good or not, but 'the wolverine' should def try and sport some blue and yellow threads this time around!! ;) Preferably with SOME form of his iconic mask.

I have been dying to see the wolverine mask come to life since pre-xmen 1! ugh!!!

i know it has the possibility to look stunning in live action form, I just wonder if FOX completely f'd any chance of seeing it with all the other mediocre WOlverine outings...GRRRRR!

Im gonna go into a berserker mode of my own if after 5 films Wolverine STILL isn't given his dues...

For me FOX ruined the x-men movies (give them back to marvel), however Hugh's performance and dedication to Wolverine made them watchable. I'm sure i'll watch 'The Wolverine'. Gotta give the man props he's a [frick]ing tank!

If Jackman likes playing Wolverine so much...
do you think maybe he would do a Wolverine tv series?

I would watch it.
Coachella

He's way to tall for Wolverine. I mean he almost just as tall as Chris Hemsworth.
LOL
LOL - 2/18/2011, 5:25 PM
@bigfootman95, a wolverine tv series is a good idea, but he's not getting any younger... a mini-series would be ok with him in it... but if you want something like that to go on for more than a full season, you need somebody a little younger for the role. And it would most likely have to be on a cable/dish channel like SyFy or FX because public networks like NBC, WB, abc are limited when it comes to shows depicting extreme violence the way a good Wolvie show should have as basically a series like Wolverine live action show would carry some sort of R rating. If a public network gets a hold of something like that, they'd most likely tone down on how violently Logan kicks ass.

It could work though if someone is willing to foot the bill.

I agree with Black Widow!!

He's about 6 feet, 190 lbs. and he looked that small in the last film? And people want Henry Cavill to be at 190 lbs when he films Superman?? That obviously won't be enough to fill the suit out. Now the way Jackman is right now, that is a superhero!!

He has so much dedication and loves his role as Wolverine so much that its such ashame that their hasn't been a respectful interpretation of his iconic character. I'll watch this film, just because I respect Hugh Jackman. I just don't know if it will be in the theater. Not happy that it'll take place in Japan but we'll see how it goes.

my opinion, if there is no blood, its will always be second best. Steel claws plus human flesh equals blood, plain and simple. Always stuck wit softcore Wolverine.

I like Jackman but I am sorry but he isn't Wolverine...Too tall for starters. I've always thought of Logan as an underdog and I haven't had that feeling in any of the X-Men movies.

I hate to be the buzz-kill here, but instead of hitting the gym, Jackman SHOULD be hitting the dojo or kwoon! I'm SICK and TIRED of Whimp-erine (yeah, I said it - who wants some?)! When the @#$! are they going to teach him to FIGHT?! This 'hack-slash-thrust' crap is for the birds! He's @#$!-ing WOLVERINE, people! He's an uber-assisin-killer, trained in multiple forms of tasty pain infliction! Sure, he's got the 'shiny' and the 'plus million' healing factor, but he's @#$!-ing WOLVERINE, people! Just BECAUSE he CAN survive just about anything thrown at him doesn't mean it still doesn't HURT! Don't you think he'd learn a LITTLE sumthin' sumthin' in all the years he's been alive to avoid the pain and inflict maxium carnage? IT ONLY MAKES SENSE PEOPLE!

it looks like he's gonna have to star in old man logan before long, but he looks great, i think he does a great job as wolvi, but he is tall, the real wolverine is only like 5'4 or something, any awesome!
Exiles
Exiles - 2/18/2011, 5:41 PM
@loganoneil how do you know he hasn't hit the dojo? we have no idea how far along they are with this movie besides the fact that jackman and aronofsky are involved. But I definitely understand what your saying its been the basic hack and slash with wolverine in this movie

and people get over it we live in a world where, Superman is shorter then wolverine, and wolverines the same height as thors. LIVE WITH IT, the dudes done a respectable job with the material he's been handed just hope we get a better wolverine movie with aronofsky in charge

@loganoneil: he actually knows just about every form of martial arts (both eurapean, aisan, and damn near everything else)but yeah i would like to see the skilled assassin version of him, maybe it'll show him learning stuff in the new movie, i would like to see him cut off sabertooths head with a masamune...or was it muramasa?...anyway one of the famous bladesmiths

continuezero - 2/18/2011, 5:46 PM
WTF? 190's not that big...even 210...I mean he's not gonna be a small guy walking around but in terms of getting big it's not like that's massive or anything. I guess if he's in the 215-220 range for his height that'll be alot of mass but seriously that's not some astronomical number.
loganoneil
loganoneil - 2/18/2011, 5:49 PM
Exiles - He's been in 4 X-films so far, and he still fights like a drunken redneck! So far, the ONLY think Iv'e heard about Jackman is how much dead animal flesh the man is wolfing down and how much he can bench - NOTHING about martial arts training. For the first Matrix, Keanu Reeves and company trained non-stop for over 6 months, 6 to 8 hours a day! Reeves said his body was so stressed from the training, he used to have to soak in a tub of ice every day just to recover! As I understand it, filming is supposed to be right around the corner, and yet all we here about is Jackman's caloric intake?! @#$! THAT!
loganoneil
loganoneil - 2/18/2011, 5:52 PM
aishiteru - THANK YOU! See? Wolverine IS the ultimate assassin! Jackman's version is NOT!

No healing factor, no claws, no adamatium? Oooo, close draw - with MAYBE a SLIGHT edge to Wayne (I DID say 'SLIGHT'). Regardless of the outcome, it would be an EPIC battle! I'd pay to see that...

People are still complaining about Jackman being too tall? really? Wow, you've only had 10 years to get over it. xD Wolverine is one of my favorite characters, I don't mind him being "too tall" Most guys are not that short to begin with.
