X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Director Bryan Singer Confirms That Mr. Sinister Will Appear In THE WOLVERINE 3

The X-Men: Apocalypse post-credits scene set up the introduction of Mr. Sinister, and now Bryan Singer has confirmed that the mutant geneticist will be one of the villains in the new Wolverine movie...

Fans have been waiting to see Mr. Sinister on the big screen for some time now, and we finally got a little tease of the character in the X-Men: Apocalypse post-credits stinger when a vial of Wolverine's blood was collected by some well dressed Essex Corp. individuals. Most of us assumed this was setting up the villain for the next X-Men movie, but it looks like we'll be meeting him a lot sooner than that.

During the audio commentary on the Apocalypse Blu-ray release, Bryan Singer reportedly confirms that Sinister will be one of the antagonists in James Mangold's follow-up to The Wolverine. He doesn't elaborate, but it's not exactly a stretch to assume that Nathanial Essex's penchant for cloning will lead to the introduction of X-23, and possibly even a direct duplicate of Logan (Hugh Jackman). It might also pave the way for the formation of The Marauders, which in turn could tie-in with the Gambit movie... if it ever gets off the ground, that is!

As for who could be playing Sinister, out of the cast members we know of, Richard E. Grant's "mad scientist type" seems the most likely candidate, though Stephen Merchant is also a possibility.

What do you guys think of this news? Excited to finally see a live-action Mr. Sinister take on The Wolverine?

@MattBellissimo - Sinister is my favorite comic villain of all time, but I can't help but assume they will butcher the character, just like so many other X-Characters from past movies.

The only thing that makes me hold onto hope is that this will be rated R. Unfortunately, that doesn't exactly mean Sinister will be portrayed correctly. I'm fully expecting a normal looking guy in a business suit, which would be horrendous.

If they want to do him right, they can introduce him here, but they also need to hint that he has been kidnapping mutants for ages and integrating their X-Gene into his own body so he can give himself a wide range of powers. They also need to somehow work in that he has been involved in nearly everything that has happened to the X-Men since day one. To one extent or another.

Sinister is an epic villain to anyone that knows anything about him. He has had his hands in their business forever, even when they didn't know it. He's been working from the shadows. Aside from Magneto representing the perfect counter argument to Xavier's dream, Sinister is easily their most important, and worst villain.

They need to make sure they use him correctly. Otherwise they will be selling him short.

@CorndogBurglar - If they are smart, they will make Sinister an ongoing villain across the X-Films. Working from the shadows and manipulating things.

Singer also says it was almost a Deadpool 2 character in the post credits sequence.

We did a tag that we really couldn't do -- which I can stick on the DVD. It would have been for Deadpool, and unfortunately it wouldn't have had the right costume for the character they're going to add to Deadpool [2]. I don't want to give that away.

My money is on Cable. Good to know that it's because they wanna get the costume right.

Can we get a [frick]in trailer? This news is something that gets you excited a year before the movie, by this time we should've had a trailer, a poster, SOMETHING.

Wolverine is one of my favorite characters, I'm willing to jump on the hype train if you give me a reason to fox.

@MattBellissimo - good! every time i hear something about this movie i get excited, but since the marketing is practically non existant i forget about it almost immediatly lol.

a trailer seared into my brain would probably help with that!

@ALostCause - if they started putting up too many trailers too soon everyone on here would just go on about how the marketing budget is going to be $400M and the film will never turn a profit.

Is that who Richerd E. Grant is playing? He's a killer actor, I'd trust him with it.
