FBI catch 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' pirate!

The FBI has charged a man with copyright infringement after he allegedly uploaded 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' earlier this year.

Gilberto Sanchez, 47, was arrested in the Bronx, N.Y. early Wednesday morning by FBI agents without incident, according to law enforcement sources. A spokeswoman from the FBI's Los Angeles field office (which led the investigation) has now confirmed the arrest.

By the time the movie was released, the pirated copy is thought to have been watched over 4 million times.

According to a copy of a grand jury indictment that was unsealed last week, Sanchez uploaded the film to file sharing network Megaupload.com under one of his online aliases, which include "theSkilled1" and "SkillyGilly." The indictment does not say how Sanchez obtained a copy of the film.

If convicted, Sanchez may face fines and a prison sentence.

Don't really blame it all on him Wolverine wasn't the greatest movie anyway. I happened to catch a bit of the pirated copy, and decided to stop to go see it in the theaters. The problem was I kinda wish i had just stayed home to finish watching it online. He actually didn't even upload the whole thing. From what many have stated there was a lot of cgi not added, and scenes missing.

Thank you dirty Sanchez!

Yes it was a very rough copy...which tells u it came from a crew members hands..so unless this guy actually worked on the film himself...he shouldnt be the #1 guy 2 go after...
i enjoyed the movie alot..but the more i watch it..the more i think how much it could've been better..i think it ruined a chance at a gambit solo film...especially since i hav heard no news on it..anybuddy else???

Good work FBI! Don't worry about catching terrorists or other threats to national security. Catching the wolverine pirate should be a top priority.

Real talk: This is some BS

FREE SANCHEZ!!!

He saved me $12, so for me, he did a service. I wonder how much of tax payer's money was spent on this investigation only to end up catching the guy who didn't take the copy from the studio itself, rather, just some dude who uploaded it.

lol @ Betty: Aren't you the lucky one? I actually PAID to see the swill.

1st of all I am the one that came up with the Borigins talk and all the Derivitives thereof! Secondly , LEE777 just tried to come up with other ways of saying it too. But i gave birth to the slanderous talk and i am so hung over right over now. Lov e ya LEE, but ya know its true. And nobody actually hates that turd of a movie more than me!

And Sanchez is the Man!!!

Congratulations FBI

Instead of actually tracking down threats to national security, taking drugs off the streets, working on kidnapping cases, or catching murders you spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money to launch an investigation to catch a guy that cost a studio hundreds of thousands dollars. This same studio that takes in hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars annually.

So now, national security threats walk the streets, drug dealers walk the streets, kidnappers walk the streets, and murders walk the streets.......but sleep well fellow americans, because THEY CAUGHT GILBERTO SANCHEZ!

F*ckin @sstards, this is like the Senate spending months listening to the testimony of BASEBALL PLAYERS...

JOB WELL DONE......idiots.

Does this guy really need to be punished? I mean it's not like being the first person to watch one of the most lousy CBMs in an unfinished draft, without all the last layers of CGI applied, is bad enough, now he also have to pay for it and go to jail.

On the other hand I paid and I found watching the movie like being imprisoned against my will, so maybe this is just justice being served...LOL

@Talontd What is the point of having laws if we dont inforce them? What about the thousand of FBI agents that ARE out there catching national threats? Why sit around and bash the Federal agents that are taking drugs off the street? If these laws are not inforced a lot of Studios will go under. He broke the law and got caught. It may be a silly law to you but it doesnt remove the fact that he did it fully know what he was doing.

A message to all CBMers from THEPHOENIX (THEHAWK's wife):

"Hawk was in a pretty bad motorcycle wreck this weekend. He is stable, but still unconscious. Someone has also gotten into HAWK's e-mail account and changed the password. They are now using it to contact everyone he knows and ask for money. He is not stuck in Europe or hiding out in Pakistan, he is in a hospital bed. It is a scam! So to everyone that was contacted, DO NOT send any money transfers!!!"

ASSASSINS666: I've tried emailing him but it doesnt seem to work - I'm really worried about where he's gotten to! I wish I knew his real name because then I'd probably be able to find him as I remember him saying that he lives in Southampton and as I live in the UK as well I'm sure that theres a way I could have at least tracked down some sort of contact info!

@demonvol

PRIORITIZATION!!! My problem isn't with the Agents that busted him per se, but with the delagation of duty. There are too many other things going on in this country for a team of FBI agents to be assigned to "catching the guy that uploaded a movie". If my rant seemed directed specifically at them (which i admit it does) then I apologize. My problem is with the Hollywood heavyweights having the ability to cause such a stir that such action was taken.

I bet there isn't one FBI agent that signed up specifically to catch "those who upload movies." Their talents are being wasted, and so are my taxpayer dollars.

As for the studio's going under because of Pirated Movies....that's bullsh!t. The music industry is proof of that. People will pay for the movie theater experience and DVD's regardless. The only difference is that execs, actors, and producers make a couple million less a year.....god forbid. The music industry has shown that people will still go out and pay for a CD that they feel is "worth it". Most of the people I know that downloaded ORIGINS went to see it at the theater as well, why?, because they wanted to see WOLVERINE on the big screen. Those that didn't stated one reason, "it sucked."
