Fox Files More Lawsuits Against Those Pesky Movie Pirates!

Fox is still upset that the leaked copy of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' put the shaft on the theatrical release.

The New York Times reports "legal action is being taken against several dozen people accused of selling DVDs containing the film and other Fox titles, including Marley & Me, Avatar and Bride Wars."

Rumor is Fox is seeking 150 grand for each offense.

So let that be a lesson to all you movie pirates out there. You are not safe sitting in your 6X6 Hack room burning multiple copy's of Bill Bixby's 'Incredible Hulk.' You will be caught. You will be fined. And yes, there is a world beyond the confines of your 6X6 Hack room.

Oh yeah, here is the list of people that are under indictment.
Kenneth Slater of Paxton, Illinois.
Valerie Rosales of Stockton, California
Ozy Smith of Oakland, California
John Hegedus of Garfield, New Jersey
David Chung of Chicago

Fox is still searching for a few more violators.

Don't be one of these schmucks.

This from Fox: "This kind of conduct not only violates the law, it's just plain wrong. We filed these lawsuits today to protect our creative professionals and the intellectual property they spend years developing."

Fox, are you sure your upset about not being able to protect those creative professionals? Or are you upset that these guys blew the whistle on Wolverine, letting everyone know how bad in fact the movie was, before it's release? I would bet the latter. In the world of Twitter, the first day is going to make or break a movie anyway.

Don't let the below image happen to you!!!

I want the £17 I spent on the blu-ray back! I thought that watching the movie in HD for a second time might actually make it better...it was worse! The dodgy CGI, messy script, pointless cameos, Deadpool...

After all of the crappy CBM's Fox have made, maybe it serves them right to lose a little money! :P

On a serious note though, although I dont necessarily agree with piracy and the way in which it then effects the success of a movie, as someone who lives in the UK and has to wait for shows like Supernatural 6+ months after they air in the US I'm grateful to whoever uploads them online for me to watch, lol! :)

Most people who download movies and even people who put them up dont make money from it. When you record something from tv and give it to a friend to watch should you be fined? In the Borgins case it was a work print and did not have all the FX added yet and within the Pirate community they actually told people to go see it at the theater. Not the other way around. The movie did make a lot off money but the reason it did not make more then The Dark Knight is because it was crap. Sorry Fox you did not make a Dark Knight quality film even though thats the kind of money you were hoping for.

Oh and by the way the download community only makes up less 1% of the Population here in the US.

I have downloaded some in the past but I always go see it in the theater first and still buy my favorite movies on DVD.

"Fox is still upset that the leaked copy of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' put the shaft on the theatrical release."

It probably didn't help that the film sucked either.

Note to Fox: In addition to securing your movies from pirates, you should additionally focus on making the movies good. Just a suggestion.

I don't see anything wrong with downloading stuff as long as no money changes hands. This is honestly more true for music than movies, though.

And change origin's relationship's,power's look's..they don't take em seriously from that standpoint either because they have no idea or they never looked at a comic or it's just a hollywood thing. ..Why should we take em seriously for what they think? 2 words PeerGuardian..

X-Men Borigins: Whiney Wolverine sucked! I saw it in theaters & wished I hadn't spent $10 to watch a weak cgi & horrible story. Atleast with the bootleg they warned us.

@Bropous Hey we are all getting ripped off by them all the time. Just look at the price of popcorn and drinks when you go see a movie. Most downloaders will still go pay to see a movie at the theater and buy it on DVD if it a good quality film. Frick Hollywood Sorry Borgins was not worth $8-10 a ticket. Hey maybe theater's should charge differently for movies based on the reviews they get. Movies like The Dark Knight are worth $10 a ticket and movies like Wolverine should be .50 cents. Maybe then Hollywood will make better movies.

I watch tv shows off the net as well, here in South Africa shows air like a year later. With regards to Fox tough luck guys, i watched pirate copies of both Iron Man and Hulk because I missed the theatrical run and when they came out I bought both dvd's in steelbook cases, I watched TDK at the Cinema and bought the dvd. Unfortunately I watched Wolverine at the Cinema first because I didnt believe the negativity ....guess what's not ever going in my collection.

I'll admit that when I heard the movie was leaked I gave in and downloaded a copy. I also saw it in the theaters twice and bought the dvd at midnight when it came out. What Fox is really worried about is the fact that sales weren't what they expected so they are going after pirates. Sorry to say sales weren't as good as they expected because they made a terrible movie. It's a lesson for high powered movie executives to focus on the core of a movie and not try to make a cash cow.
