Wolverine 2 Already in the Works?

Wolverine 2 Already in the Works?

The first Wolverine film has yet to hit theaters but alas there are rumblings of a second Wolverine film already underway.

A scooper at AICN has sent in the following:

"I'm currently working at the bradford international film festival in the UK, and tonight we had Simon Beaufoy, screenwriter of Slumdog Millionaire doing a screentalk. Anyway, he dropped a bit of a scoop, he's been employed to write the script for "wolverine 2. He commented that while he was apprehensive about the project (claiming to not even know what a Wolverine was!) his agent pursuaded him to take it on. He clarified that working on a film thats successor has yet to be finished was a strange experience, and one that he wasn't sure he was comfortable with. Anyway, I read your site everyday and figured Id send this interesting little tidbit over -- Adam

Ain't It Cool does not say if they've had prior dealings with this scooper or why they give the note enough credence to run with a story, so consider this an unsubstantiated rumor at this point.

I don't see why they would need a second Origin movie? Leave it at the first one, quit going back in time in the X-men story, go forward, lets see some Apocolypse, and Grif...as much as you want it, it's never going to happen buddy

what would you prefer grif? yellow spandex?

as much as i want to see apocalypse on screen,
i'm afraid of what they might do to the character..

@Grif,Go [frick] yourself in your crusty vagina.
@Loganoneil, did you even watch the Oscars??? Hugh was funny as hell!!!!
@Davidzuck, look up what happens with Wolverine when he visits Japan. Thats what they would use for the sequel and its a good ass story line.

@loganoneil, that is excellent, i laughted my arse off, thats almost as good as the x men last standing ovation

@captainamercia, i could not agree more, but i think ill wait for woverine 1 before i make a real opinion.

japan would be good, probally the only way, mabye even do somthing with alpha flight or at least shaman.

@davidzuck i know what mean, i do not want to be in 60s when x men 4 comes out, gets these origins done, out the way and get x 4 going, i mean you dont even need woverine and storm, they could make a perfectly good x men with out them, it not as if there is a lack charators to choose from

1st of all, they shouldnt rush with a Wolverine sequel, they should atleast c reactions of fans after the film. like they r doing bout Transformers 3, the 2nd one aint out yet but they r discusing the 3rd part already?hold ur horses man
2nd, Simon Beaufoy dosent know nottin bout Wolverine, shouldnt a screenplay be done by someone who knows the character well?
3rd, a wolverine sequel by my opinion should take place after the X-Men, who wants to watch a sequel taking place before the X-Men again?
and last, i have to agree with davidzuck, i dont c Wolverine in a costume in any sequels

Logan, lol, why? The Oscars were funny as hell.

As an X-fanatic, I say hell yeah, bring it on. In the interest of seeing the future of the X-Men, rather than their past, I also just wish they'd put this effort into X4.

For Wolverine 2, Japan is the only real option that would be of great interest. I always liked Cyber, the only man Logan fears. A story involving him as the antagonist would be good also.

well they all were in some kind of costume in X1-X3...did that not satisfy?

Id much rather X-Men 4 comes out than another origin of Wolverine. Jeeze he has been the main character in all the movies, give someone else a break.

grif: that was from x1, where logan asks if they
actually go out in these.. you know what, nevermind..

FOX do seem a little wolverine-happy don't they?

I think that he should have a costume with a mask I mean that is a part of him.It could even be like the ones in the x-men series but throw a little color in it because the black costumes are getting old real fast. What I think that it would be amazing to see wolverine in full gear on the big screen.

Another thing why would you get someone who knows nothing about Wolverine but let him write the next movie? I would say that it could be Crap in the making but only time will tell.
CrookedJaw
CrookedJaw - 3/26/2009, 12:10 PM
nah Kevin...no Iceman or Cable...I even hate the idea of X-men: First Class. Like I said earlier, move forward in the storyline, new villains, new mutants, they have a huge universe to choose from, use it!

@Keven: While a Magneto origin isn't very appealing to me, how about "X-Men Origins: Xavier and Magneto" That would be much more worthwhile. Spend about the first 20 minutes with some origin time before they meet and become friends. Then you go from there. Some nice character placement like Moira MacTaggart, actually Moira Kinross at the time, and her romance with Charles before an Oxford Professor(Sinister in disguise) breaks them up and he begins traveling where he meets Magneto for the first time, as well as a woman named Gabrielle Haller in Israel. We would get to see the first time the 2 of them reveal to each other what they are. Shadow King could be there along with a young Storm. Amelia Voight could be there, introducing her before she can become one of Magneto's Acolytes in a future X-movie. Show how the alien Lucifer paralyzed Xavier. Show Magneto's early love with Magda and the destruction of an entire village at his hands when she is killed. Showing these romances opens many doors, like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, as well as Legion, Charles and Gabrielle's son, which could allude to an "Age of Apocalypse" story eventually allowing characters like Bishop and Cable a chance onscreen.

I know that's a lot, but it would be substantially better than a Magneto Origin.

As for an Iceman or Cable Movie, I hope not. Gambit and Deadpool deserve there own solo efforts before them, and I would rather see an X4, despite how much I like Gambit.

possibilitys for Wolverine 2:

1. Wolverine/Japan/The Hand

All you folks are so worried about the spandex and the villains... what about the fact that, IF this is true... The guy doesn't know a flipping thing about Wolverine!?!? Just because he wrote an oscar winning script doesn't mean he has any business writing a comic book movie, especially when he's [frick]ing clueless about it.

I seen the trailer for the up coming Wolverine looks pretty good dont know how well their going to tell the story.I guess we'll find out in the next month or so....and personally I dont think Wolverine needs a costume its not like he has a secret idenity. As fas as villians go for Wolverine and the X-Men I'd like to see Omega Red,Super Skrull or the Gladitor. Last but not least I sure hope they dont hand over Wolverine to someone who doesnt know or care JACK about the character.

I think Jackman will deffo want to go with the Japan story if they make a sequel..but i agree one origin movie is enough, i would rather see a movie set after the events of X3

Has anyone been reading the Old Man Logan arc in Wolverine? Its shit cool! Its like Wolvies Dark Knight Returns!
Osiris
Osiris - 3/26/2009, 7:28 PM
if this guy doesn't know anything about Wolverine and they let him write the 2nd one they better get a director that knows his stuff and can set him strait, since they can make whatever changes they want hell he could make him redo the whole script if he wanted too as long as the producers don't but their fat heads in and screw crap up like they did to Raimi on SM3.

Also this is FOX we are talking about they are not the smartest cookies in the bunch, I have said it b4 and I'll say it again FOX needs to give their X-men licenses back to marvel and let them make the movies the way they should have been made in the first place, granted I do like the first 2 and 3 was ok but they are lacking.

oh and i am against a Magneto movie, i think it would be boring and a wast of time, plus 3 movies of Magneto was enough, move on to a better villain, Magneto is not their greatest foe, just the first and longest running, plus Magneto plots are lame.

okay, i have been at work all day but i have been dying on commenting about this, wolverine is my only comic character. first off, rorschach, yes, i am reading old man logan, and yes, it is a great book. x force is the only other one that i am reading really.
wolverine is in the front of all the movies because of one thing. he is the greatest comic book character ever. i have known this since the first comic i have seen with him and the greats at wizard put him as the greatest of all time too. there will be a second movie, and a third. why make more x men movies when all you need to do is make wolverine movies. i don't think they did that good with the x men movies. magneto was the only villain really in all movies. apac is my favorite and i would love him in a movie. as for wolverine 2, japan is the only way they are going to go, and that is where they are going to go. put the hand in there. they can write it right, and fox has the right to the hand because elektra was on fox. plus who why have a few bad guys when you can give him a room full. imagine jackman going through about 100 ninjas on the roof tops of japan. i think that they should have cyber as the villain put tyger tyger in there to have a woman he has the hots for with his attitude and mariko for the balance. and then have sabertooth come kill them both or one of them. you gotta bring sabe back to show that he balances wolvie out. they are bounded. the second movie is always the greatest. alien, terminator, xmen, spiderman, so on and so on. shit, godfather 2 was the best one. this movie will kick ass and the second one will be better. cyber, or more of sabertooth. that is the only way to go. but for the 3rd, you have to have omega red. and i think it would be sweet to have a wolverine, sabertooth, wendigo fight in the woods. animals going at it. as for more x men movies, i believe that they are going to do with the movies what they did with the cartoon.

x23

they have to have that wolverine in the movies, and that is the solution to the problem. and for everyone saying a cable movie would suck i feel the complete opposite. a movie set in the far future, on some mad max, escape for new york shit, him fighting sentinels, other mutants and apocalypse. and then through a old wolverine in there for a cameo, and get him killed!!!!!
as for this poll head that is said to write this, not a chance. they wouldn't do that. the guy writing it now, i forgot his name, has been quoted.... he got into movie writing hoping one day he could write a wolverine movie. that is his dream, once he kills this movie, they will sign him to another. damn, i think i have said enough.

loelife you gotta take it a little easy here. You are generalizing a little bit don't you think. Yes there are some good second movies but there are also some really terrible ones too. I think the problem here is that the first one hasn't come out yet...if it sucks then what? We're going to have a Fantastic 4 problem where the first one sucks and the second one is worse (sorry to those who liked those movies). I hope this movie is dope, and if so maybe talk seconds...for now lets see how this ones turns out.

Also logan, great pic

Wolverine is one of the greatest characters of all time. So he can make as many movies as he please. I'm happy Comic book movies are finally getting the perfect actors of the roles. Blade, Spiderman, Wolverine, The Punisher [war zone], Batman, and Ironman.

Every damn post with the tank top and jeans! Im strting to think you have a trucker fetish or something!

loganaspatch its just a sort of "What if" story..like Age of Apocalypse. But yeah it doesnt pull any punches! Logan is a broken man in the story..he hasnt popped his claws in 50 years and wont even answer to Wolverine. The reason is just mind blowing so i wont say in case you ever read it.

I have to say Hugh Jackman is a very versitile Actor weather it's taking Sabertooth down in X-men, Killing Count Dracula in Van Helsing, Throwing it down with Lady Deathstrike in X-2, Stopping Jean Gray in X-3, or Riding through Austraillia with Nicole Kidman, he's a rare hot Commodity in Hollywood over the next few years he will be a big name for a while longer (possibly till he gets a Oscar.)
