Sad news today as it's been revealed that David Hemblen, an English born actor who worked primarily in Canadian theatre, film and television has passed away aged 79. Hemblen had roles in La Femme Nikita and Earth: Final Conflict. He also appeared in Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future and TekWar: TekLords. His most memorable and recognisable role though amongst comic book fans was as voice of the villain Magneto in the popular X-Men: The Animated Series running from 1992 to 1997.
Hemblen and X-Men co-star John Colicos previously worked together on stage where Hemblen got his start in 1967. Colicos voiced the villain Apocalypse in the series.
Hemblen even was offered to reprise his role in live action in the first X-Men film directed by Bryan Singer before the role went to Ian McKellen. The film celebrates it's 20th anniversary this year.
While no formal announcement was made by his agency his family have confirmed his death on legacy.com an obituaries website.
