Wizard Magazine says it's official: 20th Century Fox is moving forward with X-Men 3 without director Bryan Singer who helmed the first two. Singer is directing the widely anticipated revival of Warner Bros.' Superman film franchise.

"We can officially confirm that Bryan is off 'X3', and that the project is moving forward," a studio spokesperson told the magazine. A new director may be named soon.

Singer begins a year-long stint as writer of the Ultimate X-Men comic book beginning in mid-2005.

Meanwhile, former Superman director McG says he's hopeful for Singer's success with the Man of Steel. "I was really passionate about telling the genesis story of that character, and ultimately we decided we were going to part company [with Warner Bros.]," he told MTV. "Bryan, look what he did with 'X-Men.' He's a fantastic talent, and I'm sure it will be fantastic. And when the time is right, that picture is going to get made."
