Jennifer Lawrence Reassures That She'll Be Blue In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Comic book fans were scratching their collective heads at seeing a very human looking Raven Darkholme in the first X-Men: Apocalypse trailer. However, Jennifer Lawrence says she does have scenes wearing Raven's traditional blue skin make-up.

Judging by the first X-Men: Apocalypse trailer, the only thing blue about Mystique is her blue-and-yellow X-Men uniform (Am I the only one still having trouble with the concept of Mystique as a member of the X-Men?).  However, Jennifer Lawrence recently confirmed that she does get into the traditional blue-skin makeup for a few scenes.  "I am blue in it, a little bit. I put my foot down as much as I could. [But] they were very, very nice to me."

Lawrence has made it no secret that she's not a fan of the tedious process that's necessary to craft the blue-skin of Mystique's natural appearance.  In the four years since X-Men: First Class, Lawrence's meteoric rise to stardom has also given her the ability to "put her foot down" and tell producer's to limit how much screen-time she has in the blue make-up.

Surely, Lawrence is probably contractually obligated for a certain amount of screen-time in blue-skin but with Lawrence's X-Men contract up after Apocalypse, the producer's are likely trying to appease her requests so that she's more likely to sign up for more films.

Is this her last X-Men movie?

If so, I'd like Marvel to try and see if she'd be interest in starring in Captain Marvel?

A hollywood starlet complaining about having to look like a character she signed on to play. This is why X-Men sucks.

I'd let her blue me.

Her contract is up after Apocalypse and she's hinted that she's ready to move on but it could just be a negotiation ploy for more money.

I bet she tried her hardest to phone in this performance like she did in the Mockingjay Pt 2. I think she'll stay away from big franchises and stick to oscar-bait for a while.

"I put my foot down as much as I could."

I'm sorry but she sounds like a real bitch here. You signed on to play a character who's blue, so play that.

Tell me why you couldn't be blue here when just your face and neck would be blue and not your entire body?

Or here when it's just your head, hands, neck, and perhaps waist?

Just have Mystique wear some clothes if you don't want to be fully blue. I mean shit we've seen Beast wear clothes.

Doesn't feel like valid reason for her not to be blue.

(Am I the only one still having trouble with the concept of Mystique as an X-Men?)

Hehe @MarkJulian not lie I got a story about that. Now I didn't really start reading comics on a regular basis until late 2011. I mean I grew up with the cartoons, movies, games, and other stuff but I just didn't have any comic book stores by me or stores that sold comics. Only time I got comics was when I would visit my Uncle in NY because the grocery stores by him sold them. Would get numerous Ultimate Spidey, Batman, Superman/Batman, Superman, and more comics.

Anyway I remember watching First Class in theaters. One reason I didn't really like it was basically I was like "wait a second, you're telling me Raven is Xavier's step-sister which has never been talked about or discussed prior to film"? It was just funny because I never even the comics and could tell when stuff from the films was complete bullshit. I mean nowhere in the OT Singer films was this talked about and it's not like it's a small detail.

KNEW IT! KNEW IT! F*CKING KNEW IT! Called this sh*t as soon as the trailer was released.

Don't sign on to play a character if you don't want to look like that character. Ugh. I am so done with her as Mystique.
This bullsh*t completely undermines First Class. Ridiculous

@Kyos THANK YOU! Her sh*tty attitude undermines that message too, along with FC. UGH.

@Kyos spot on! This Mystique is not mutant and proud. I really dislike this MystLawrence.

Still getting used to MystLawrence leading the xmen and Storm being a Horseman.

Mystique was terrified of Apocalypse, and unwilling aided him a lot due to that fear.

I don't see Nicolas Hoult complaining about playing Beast.
Wasn't JLaw the one complaining about sexism or something?

She might be right, but not in the way she's thinking.

Jenn is a beautiful person both inside and out but you can easily tell that she's so done with this franchise. Like, this woman said she would return back only if Fox wanted her too since she prefers for them to ask her instead of her them? Whatever, look I get it that the blue makeup is hard and all but I think motion capture would easily help no? Look at Zoe Saldana in Avatar or Josh Brolin as Thanos?

I know it's such a small thing to harp on but really, the character is known for her shapeshifting abilities and blue skin.
ACTORS SHOULD NOT DEFINE THE CHARACTER!

If you aren't willing to invest what it takes to be the character onscreen, be it makeup, a stupid mocap suit, or whatever else, you shouldn't sign up to be that character. You are doing everyone a disservice, including yourself.

I have defended the Fox movies a lot. I'm a comics fan in general, I've never cared for inter-company wars or whatever else. But this sh*t really REALLY makes me mad. Stop catering to people like this.
