New Details About X-Men: First Class' Script!

From an old X-Men: First Class' draft comes new informations about Matthew Vaughn's prequel: Cyclops, a love triangle...And McCoy's mutation! Check it out!

From The Playlist comes new information about X-Men: First Class' movie. The info comes from an old draft of the movie, surely written by Jamie Moss; we already know the script has been retooled several times, including a recent one by frequent Vaughn collaborator Jane Goldman.

The info are:
- Magneto (then known as Eric Lensherr, played by Michael Fassbender) and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) travel around trying to save mutants. As more news about their existence leaks out, more goverment led operations are endangering mutants' lives.
- Like the comics, they go and build a school for mutants.
- There is a love triangle between Eric, Charles and Emma Frost (played by Alice Eve). Our source didn't want to say too much, but we presume this is one of the factors that tears Charles and Eric apart.
- One of their rifts is apparently also because of their differing ways on how to train and teach their students.
- The script features Cyclops (there's been some speculation out there that some key mutants may be missing in certain drafts).
- We see the transformation of Hank McCoy, how he goes from the regular Beast (Nicholas Hoult) to the blue furry one played by Kelsey Grammer in "X-Men: The Last Stand."
- Apparently some shooting has already taken place, but it might just be test footage.

The film also stars Kevin Bacon as the film's main villain, Jennifer Lawrence ("Winter's Bone") as Mystique, Lucas Till as Havoc and Caleb Landry Jones (NBC's "Friday Night Lights") as Banshee. There have been reports that some of the casting details may have been purposeful disinformation, we'll see, but it is interesting that names like Cyclops, Angel, Ice-Man and Jean Grey haven't been announced yet.

The film comes out on June 3, 2011!

A love triangle between Eric, Charles and Emma Frost? weird Emma on that would be younger then Charles and Eric. Would be better having Moira in that triangle, but anyway I liked how the rest sounds like. Nice to see that we having Hank transformation!
Lets see if First Class will be good, waiting for june 2011!

Beast's mutation being shown in stages would be sweet!

In Bryan Singer's X3 Treatment, Emma Frost was Proffesor X's old flame so it seems Singer is is trying to resurrect that idea just incase he makes X4

For some reason I feel worried about this movie. But I still want to see it. I don't like the idea of the whole Eric/Charles/Emma love triangle. That just seems kinda...strange, and different. I feel like this is going to be a reboot of some kind, since it's not following X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Not that I mind, since I didn't like that movie anyways, but sadly it's still part of the series if we like it or not. Just ignoring what happened at the ending of that movie is going to confuse the audience. Plus, it also seems that they might ignore what happened in the original trilogy. A reboot for Spidey is understandable, and a reboot for Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and Hulk are understandable. But a reboot for X-Men? I know the last two weren't that great, but c'mon the first two were still the best. Jeez, I just don't get it. But oh well...

Still no word on if it's a prequel or a reboot, huh?

"There is a love triangle between Eric, Charles and Emma Frost (played by Alice Eve)."

How the HELL are they going to pull that off? Emma was already established to be in her teens/early 20's in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' when (Sir) Patrick Stwart's Xavier rescued her at the end of the film. NOW they're saying she's gonna' have a three-way with the good Prof. and Magneto? WTF people??!! Is Singer thumbing his nose at the story-arch he helped create? SCREW THIS - kick Singer to the curb and REBOOT (before any more damage is done)!

Just to make sure: Are we certain this can't be from the Josh Schwartz draft that got chucked when Singer came on board?

They [frick]ed up their continuity huh ?

Ok, for one thing:

Wolverine's girlfriend's sister was never named in the actual film, and could easily be retconned into being a total nobody.

Second of all... didn't most of you HATE the Wolverine movie? Would it REALLY be such a bad thing in your eyes if they ignored certain parts of that movie?

loganoneil - 7/22/2010, 1:11 PM
MaxJaybo - It was understood that Silverfox's sister WAS Emma Frost. As for hating 'Origins', I hated the entire series, so I would have NO problem if they rebooted EVERYTHING and did it RIGHT this time!
Curmudgeon
Curmudgeon - 7/22/2010, 1:28 PM
"It was understood" is not the same as "it was stated unequivocally".

Again, it's something that can easily be retconned IF they wanted to.

@loganoneil

I completely agree with you bro....on all counts.

Love triangle with Emma Frost!?!

Why???

I don't understand the NEED (from Fox) to keep p!ssing on the FANS! It would've been incredibly easy to make the love triange involve Moira McTaggert and keep some semblance of continuity. Then, she could chose neither, especially with Banshee already being announced.

They are starting from the beginning.....WHY NOT just start over?

Are they going to ignore the friendship between Iceman and Beast? Those two made me laugh SO MUCH as a kid...

This is so disappointing....sign me up for the torrent...

MaxJaybo - Tahyna Tozzi (the actress in question) was CREDITED in the film as playing 'Emma Frost'! Face it, no matter which way you slice it, Fox and Singer are screwing the pooch on this one!

Talontd - Thank you my friend, it's good to see that I wasn't the only one who didn't drink the Kool-Aid on this one! I agree, why not have the love triangle be between Xavier, Magneto and Moira? If Singer is trying to maintain continuity on this cluster-@#$! of a story, Moira has already been established (think back to X-3... remember?). Why not 'fill-in-the-blanks' and show how they know each other. It's a HELLUVA lot more plausible than this pedophile-crap they're trying to shove out now! Or better yet... REBOOT for @$#!'s sake!

From an outside point of view, this all sounds ok. From a comic book fans take though, it sounds like a load of shit!!! I [frick]ing hate Fox... ;(

Fox are just making a mess of these films. They've already said they're rebooting Deadpool after his appearence in Wolverine and now it looks like they're doing the same with the younger characters too! Why the hell dont they have the brains to link them all up rather than making mistake after mistake leading to reboot after reboot!?!

In all honesty though, who cares about this movie when Captain America and Thor are coming out in the same year! I'll go watch it but my sights are already set VERY low.

Its sounds strange. I assume they will be saying that Frost and Xavier hooked up when he rescue the mutants at the end of Origins. They CGI sucked, but maybe Stewart was supposed to be late twenties/early thirties, and FRost early twenties. They are new actors, but I'm not sure how they [frick]ed up the continuity?

@ cyke89 cheers for the info, the love triangle sounds a bit weird.that would make emma frost the same age as professor x & magneto.
it has got to feature the original five as well.
also the beast tranformation sounds intresting.
i wouldn't mind seeing like in the original x-men comics iceman in his tranformation from snowman looking to his ice form that we all know & love.

hmmm sounds good but I am still on the fence for X Men films just because of its history in the movie industry. We'll see how it turns out this time. However given that Thor and GL will be around that time period I might pass on this.
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 7/22/2010, 2:17 PM
Why were Silver Fox and Emma Frost sisters in origins? They don't even have the same last name or nationality. Whatever, I'll end up watching no matter what, I just don't see Vaughn making a bad movie.

So far this sounds like it's going to be a reboot, hopefully we will find out by the end of Comic-con.

And who are these people that call for boycotts on EVERYTHING? Even if you get your 3 friends to not go it wont help your cause much.

Ror - It's been established that Xavier and Magneto are close in age (with Xavier being a bit younger). Eric was a survivor of the World War II Nazi concentration camps. That would put him in his fifties when the Three Mile Island accident occured (1979). Even if Xavier was 10 years younger, he'd still be in his forties. What teenage/twenty-something hottie would be romatically interested in EITHER of them? They're screwing with continuity here, plain and simple! They NEED to go with Moira!

Fox doesn't care about continuity or things making sense. Isn't that obvious?

X-O: Wolverine already screwed things up.

Stryker had a vat of adamantium in X2. He could have made all the adamantium bullets he needed to take down Wolverine easy.

X-Men 1-3, X-Men: First Class, X-O: Wolverine/Wolverine 2

They can't connect because their hack writers don't bother. How much can Vaughn polish a pile of crap?

Here's a thought people, what if Singer is only planning to run on the lore HE created? That means no 'X-Men: The Last Stand', no 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'. As far as I can see, this is the ONLY way Singer and company can do this without having it backfire in their faces. Fox has already announced a 'reboot' for Deadpool - does that mean 'Origins' (and possibly 'Last Stand') never happened? Something to think about....

That's it! Disney needs to buy back the rights to ALL of the Marvel properties NOW! It will be worth it in the long run! Believe it when I say - permanent damage is being done here!!!

The Avenger films are going to CRUCIFY this movie -- especially without Wolverine in them!! The execs at Fox are retarded! THIS is the movie they should have STARTED with! Uuuuuggghhh!!!

God they've never done xmen right—from script to production to respect for the material, each has been worse than the one before, and this looks like it's going to continue the trend.

i don't much care for reboots, but i pray FC is the last Fox movie we ever see. i hope deadpool falls apart somehow until marvel gets the rights back.
fanboiii
fanboiii - 7/22/2010, 2:50 PM
@loganoneil If that's the case, then they should just continue from X2, but they're already doing a Wolverine sequel so it doesn't look like they want us to forgot about Origins.

ThunderCougarFalconBird - 7/22/2010, 2:52 PM
This probably legit because it completely [frick]s over the continuity of the other movies which seems to be how FOX like to do things. Beast was very much human in appearance in X2! Plus the love triangle tearing Prof and Mags apart is the worst idea I've heard for a long time! It goes against each characters personality to allow something so trivial effect something of such importance!

Everyday a piece of me dies, and unluckily for FOX, each day that part of me harbours my last shreds of respect for their CBMs. They clawed a little back with Kevin Bacon joining but it's just one step forward, two steps back!
Talontd
Talontd - 7/22/2010, 2:56 PM
@Ror

Beast was human in X2...
Frost was a in her early teens in XO:W...
Xavier looked to be in his late 30's in XO:W...

I'm sure there are a sh!tload more, but it's just vexing me the more that i think about it. The problem isn't so much that they are messing up the "film" continuity, it's just that they are getting so far away from the comics! This isn't a TV show where liberties NEED to be taken to keep the story moving wk to wk......these movies are supposed to be adaptations, not re-imaginings.

@Josh

I'm sure i'm gonna get flamed to all hell for this, but i didn't really have THAT big a problem with BARAKAPOOL. Sure they went a bit overboard with the powers, but i don't really understand the need to "reboot" the character....

I'm not a Deadpool scholar or anything, but didn't he get experimented on in a similar fashion in the comics because of his cancer? A quick flashback to show his diagnosis, and then an explanation that his body rejected the abilities......and poof!.....isn't all right in the Deadpool world again?

The thought of Magneto and Professor X fighting over Emma Frost is too silly. Magneto has lived through the Holocaust and we're going to see him go emo over a Emma Frost. I bet Emma Frost dies LOL.

this has to be a reboot. none of this makes any sense. like Roland said, Beast was shown in X2 on a tv giving a press conference, and he didn't have blue fur. if they show him get blue fur in the beginning like this, then it goes against that.

also, like others have said, Emma is too young to be banging down X and Mags. at least if they're following Origins.

with all the other news, everything seems to point to a reboot. if not, then they seriously messed up their own continuity.

@ MTL

yeah, Xavier might have had the hots for Jean when she was a teen...back in the 60's when that came out.

If you think they'll show two older man having an affair with a teenager in a PG-13 movie about superheroes made by Fox, then you've lost it. no offense of course. its just a fact that you can't deny. :)
