NO TIME TO DIE: Will Latest JAMES BOND Movie Skip Theaters For Amazon? Producers Reveal Future Plans

It was confirmed yesterday that Amazon has acquired MGM, meaning the James Bond franchise will soon be part of the company's streaming platform. Does that mean No Time to Die is going to skip theaters?

Now Amazon has acquired MGM, the James Bond franchise will eventually arrive on Prime. While it's possible the company will look to expand 007's world on the small screen, it's Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson who ultimately call the shots with how the iconic Ian Fleming creation is portrayed.

That means they have the final say on everything from marketing and distribution plans to who plays the secret agent, and that's not going to change with Amazon as the new owners of MGM.

There were rumours last year that MGM was looking to offload No Time to Die to a streaming service for a whopping $600 million or more, but a joint statement from Broccoli and Wilson confirms that the movie is still heading to theaters. "We are committed to continuing to make James Bond films for the worldwide theatrical audience," they told Variety

It's unclear how long the theatrical window for No Time to Die and future James Bond movies will be before they arrive on Amazon Prime Video, and this chapter is slated for October 8 after a series of delays. How open the producers would be to expanding the franchise on television is also hard to say.

Either way, the James Bond movies are a huge addition to Amazon's slate and gives the streamer a foothold in theaters that opens a whole new revenue stream (no pun intended) for the company.

Details about future plans for 007 are unlikely to be revealed until this merger is complete.

@Waddles - if they do somehow drop it Prime exclusive that’s hilarious , 2 years of delays just for it to be a streaming exclusive

I for one want movies to come out on streaming services. Nothing beats watching these films on my couch in my underwear. I can stop the movie to go to the bathroom. I wont have annoying people talking and on their phones.

Yeah no way they're putting this on streaming right away. My hype might come from the delays alone, but I do wanna see it on the big screen.

As for 007 stories on the small screen, I wouldn't be surprised if Lynch's character is gonna get a show.

I’m sure there’s already existing distribution deals in place even after theatrical release like Showtime or whatever, I’d be amazed if it doesn’t end up on Prime Video eventually though

Watched the first trailer thinking the girl he was trying to save was his daughter, mainly because of her age. Then they started making out. Kind of a bummer.

James Bond should always stay first Theaters then on Streaming.

But Amazon could expend the universe with different other Agents 00x with TV Shows.. a bit like Marvel.

I wouldnt say no to that.

If i can see a Tom Clancy's universe... why not Bond too hehe

Quantum is a better movie than it gets credit for. It should be seen more as an epilogue to Casino. It’s a fast paced, action packed little movie with one of the best Bond girls. I prefer it over Spectre and a lot of Skyfall.
