Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quest To Become The Next 007 Gets Ringing Endorsements From Two Former BOND Actors

Though it's still a little too early to say he officially has the role, George Lazenby and Pierce Brosnan have already endorsed Aaron Taylor-Johnson for James Bond.

In contrast to earlier rumors, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has not yet officially been cast as James Bond.

He appears to be in serious negotiations for the role though, and is very likely the front-runner.

TMZ caught up with Lazenby, who stated, "[Aaron] can handle the stunts, and all the ladies who love a man in a tux." He went on to share that the Kraven actor should, "be true to himself and reinvent the role to fit him."

Another former 007, Pierce Brosnan, also gave Aaron his seal of approval.

I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so...So yes, I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond, so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow.”,” Brosnan said when he recently appeared on The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1.

As far was what advice he would give him, Brosnan stated something very similar to what Lazenby advised, "Be bold. Go out there, have a great time. Just love it. Just go for it."

It should be mentioned that Johnson and Brosnan previously collaborated on a movie, having costarred in The Greatest (2009), which Brosnan also produced. That shared experience seems to have impressed Brosnan no end.

Last year, Johnson commented on the possibility of suiting up as the next 007, stating, "It’s flattering. You can have something really positive [written about you], but you can also have something really negative that can circulate."

"You just want to stay in your lane, stay grounded, stay around the people that you love and love you back, and stay in that world. Because the moment you start believing the sh*t people say about you, you’ve lost your f***ing mind. You’ve lost it."

The last James Bond film was 2021's No Time to Die, which marked Daniel Craig's final performance as Her Majesty's premiere Secret Service agent. It was Craig's 5th Bond film after debuting in the role in 2006's Casino Royale

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who are leading development on the Bond IP, have previously stated that they similarly want the next Bond actor to portray the character for nearly as long as Craig did.

This has ruled out some popular choices for the role including Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, and Michael Fassbender as they are all a little too old to portray the character for as long as Broccoli and Wilson desire.

Currently, Johnson is the odds-on favorite with sportsbettingdime.com, with +150 odds.

@dragon316 - I beleive she was Storm before she was Catwoman. So all the movies that featured her afterwards kind of required her to be in them.

I think he still acts but I haven’t seen much of his work outside of Bond

Fun fact: he was Jor El in the Superboy show and King in Batman Beyond

Idk why some people are so against this.
The dude has the looks, and can be quite charismatic if given a good script and good direction. Plus he’s actually British.

He may not be a proven box office draw but neither was Craig when he started.
It’s more so about the IP.

@MisterDoctor217 - Taylor Johnson won’t make a great bond instead he will make a great Bond villain. The casting of Taylor Johnson is cliched. Lacks inspiration. The producers settled for him because he ticks the basic boxes nothing more.

@TheMetaMan -

Idk I mean yeah it may be cliched, but what’s wrong with being traditional ?

I mean there’s been more than 20 Bond movies, an out of left field casting won’t be so welcomed methinks.

Me either. I could absolutely see him playing 007. He's still young enough, has the physical appeal and the range to give us Bond in all of his license to kill glory. If Kraven bombs, (which it most likely will) this would be his golden opportunity to shine in a better more established franchise.

Yeah definitely ! I agree, he has the chops to be a good James Bond, just needs a good script and director.

I’m actually excited for Kraven lol that movie looks cool to me, from what we see in the trailer.

Honestly the more I think about him in the role , the more I like it…

He can actually be goofy & comedic if they go the Moore route which I don’t think they will or the more serious , cold yet still suave & confident side like Craig or Connery (maybe even a mix one of both like Brosnan) so the guy has range.

The only drawbacks for me are his soft voice and that he might look a bit too young for the part.

Anyway , doubt it happens but I would give him a shot if it does!!.

While stilted to an extent , I always thought Lazenby did decent in the role (especially since it was his first acting job ever) and OHMSS remains one of the stronger older Bond films.

Also i liked Brosnan as Bond but man , he deserved better films for the most part (Goldeneye remains by far his best one).

The actor playing JB is fine but if the plot is bad then there isn’t much that can be done. The Craig movies had some excellent conflict. Gotta keep it up.

I actually quite liked Bullet Train and wasn't aware he was a legit Brit until then.

They [frick]ed up when they didn't get Idris Elba about 10-12 years ago and took forever to put out the evermore pussified Daniel Craig version.

@L0RDbuckethead - The movie should have a scene near the beginning showing ATJ' character summoned to M's office. Upon entering he sees the previous "Bonds" all sitting around (Lazenby, Dalton, Brosnan, Craig) as he is presented with his new moniker, 007 & receiving his Walther...!
Just a thought...!☮️🤷‍♂️
