With the season of Legend of Korra just ending recently with such an incredible ending, it was a no-brainer for creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko to appear at Comic Con's 2012 SDCC panels to discuss the new season of the show. Little did fans know that they would be in for more surprises: Nickeloden has ordered two additional seasons of the Legend of Korra in addition to the two already ordered. That makes the grand total 4 books over 52 episodes.

For those of you that don't know, The Legend of Korra is Nickelodeon's highest rated show, pulling in a 3.8 on average per episode and frequently out-scoring Mad Men in the ratings. Everyone wants to know what this animated sequel-series to Avatar: The Last Airbender has up it's sleeve. For a 12 episode first season, called “Book One: Air,” Korra dealt with many real world issues from socialism to terrorism to murder and suicide all within a Saturday morning cartoon show.

It is easily one of the best series on television despite it being a cartoon and doesn't get enough appreciation around here, in my opinion.

Following the slideshow, attendents were treated to some preliminary animatics showcasing what Team Avatar's been up to in the last six months. As described by the creators, Mako is now a Repuclic City policeman, Asami has taken over her father's Future Industries and Bolin is struggling to find himself (assembling what looks like a new pro-bending team). Check out a youtube users video of the animatics show during the panel of the new season below...

The Legend of Korra has just been picked up for 26 additional episodes, which brings the series tally to 52 episodes spread across four books total. It was also revealed that Book Two will be called Spirits and picks up six months after the end of Season 1.

Among the SDCC panelists were creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko; stars Janet Varney (Korra), P.J. Byrne (Bolin), David Faustino (Mako) and Seychelle Gabriel (Asami); as well as voice director Andrea Romano. We all know here from her many voice directing positions but specifically the DC universe fandom.

Korra's family will have a more prominent role this season, including her father, mother, uncle and cousins. I'm speculating here, but this will probably tie in to the Southern Water Tribe visit.

Here are some stills of new and old characters set in season 2 of LoK:

This show is fantastic!!! This is what bothers me about the new SPIDEY series and the cancellation of AVENGERS:EMH. There is an admittedly narrow middle ground between children & adult entertainment where BOTH groups can be satisfied. LEGEND OF KORRA & EMH walked that line perfectly!

The new SPIDEY show treats children as idiots with weak storylines and crass jokes. If AVENGERS assemble is in the vein of that show, it'll suck too. I really hope it will simply be an upgrade of animation and dialog....

...only time will tell.

KORRA fcuking rocked tho!!!

@WENEED

How many eps of EMH did you watch? That show is in the same vein as Justice League. Lots of arcs were 3-4eps if not longer. It didn't start that way, that's why I asked.....the stories did get AWESOME....

This is the only good show Nickelodeon has on the air. Do you remember when Nick wasn't desperately trying to be Disney channel? Those were the days.

Yeah I kinda agree with @weneedrevelation
the animation style is very important. I found myself distracted by the simple animation. it took me out of the experience... But overall, EMH was a very good show

YES!!! But I agree with @SetGecko I wish there were more episodes in season one to focus more on the Amon and equalists movement, it had a great buildup with the last episodes though, but a little bit to rushed. Anyway, I can't wait! If it keeps going at this rate, its gonna be better than the Last Airbender.

If only Sham Sham didn't jack up The Last Airbender movie!

We could also find ourselves probably expecting this to be turned into a live action movie too at some point, only to join the previous run finishing up about now...

Oh well.

This is good news though!

Yea, the art/animation does leave much to be desired, but if you can bare with it, the stories got really good...

They say that villains define heroes, well Amon was an AWESOME villain!!! Being able to take away bending powers was scary for all benders. I wish that the series ended on more of a cliff hanger and then we had to wonder if powers would ever return but the later episodes were definitely the best of the season.

That last pic of 'old friends' is badass. Loved ALL those characters but Sokka was my favourite. Funny guy!
