EXCITING NEWS EVERYONE!!!!

Reports online are circulating that in celebration towards DragonBall Z's 20th birthday... Toei will renew the series!

What does this mean?

1: DragonBall Z (renewed version) will be re-aired starting on April 5th (Toriyama's birthday) in Japan.
2: It will be re-made using new techniques.
3: It will be widescreen (16:9).. This doesn't mean they'll cut it, but they're gonna extend it by drawing extra!
4: The complete Japanese cast of Seiyuu's will come back together for this (except the Seiyuu's that have passed away such as Hirotaka Suzuoki (Tenshinhan)).
5: New sound-effects
6: The OP and ED will be re-made
7: 291 episodes will be made into 100 (no fillers..?)

source: http://daizex.com/

Predictions and questions:

1: The animation, etc... will be AT LEAST as good as it was throughout DBGT, if not better
2: It will probably start being worked on again in the US, especially if the movie does well
3: Music: This is an interesting one. Will the US just re-use the Faulconer score? Will they recycle the music but re-do it with actual musicians rather than a synthesizer? Will they just use the Japanese music? Will they try to have an American version of the Japanese Music? Will they use music based on the movie?

because GT sucked? Toriyama was barely even involved in GT and the radical change in Goku's personality while in SSJ4 was...gut wrenching. (Goku: I...I...better just give up now...no use fighting anymore) Not at all the Goku we all knew and loved. In Toriyama's own words he said himself that he does not consider GT to be canon and he himself ignores that it ever happened while doing future projects such as Dragonball Online.

That being said the idea of Toriyama ignoring GT and doing a sequel does sound nice...although they were getting a little too powerful for that to be interesting.

291 eps into 100? Does this mean I'll be able to sit through DBZ without having to bear entire episodes of: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGG!!!!" "UUGH!!!!" "WHAT!" "MY POWER LEVEL IS GETTING STRONGER!!!!!" "NOOOOOO!!!" "AAAARG!!"

I think I'm gonna like this...

cool. =] really loved DBZ as a kid, th eonly tihng that relaly annoyed me was the annoyingly long fighting scenes/epsidoes. I hope with a shorter episode legnth they will shorten the fight scenes rather than the epsidoes that move basic plot along;; (I'm not so sure which you would call filler.s but heck we don't need one fight scene to draw out in like 20 epsidoes man!!)

Awesome! I used to come home from school when I was little and watch DBZ on Toonami everyday at 5! It was the best show ever back in the day! Then I bought the season with Freeza in it last year and it sucked! It was completely different than how I remembered it. They fought Freeza for 10 episodes and then he'd change forms and they'd fight him for another ten, while they reused clips from past episodes. Shortened episodes with better quality and sound will be awesome. The show can go back to being how I remembered it!

DBZ was awesome and the fight scenes were phenomenal. I too used to watch DBZ on Toonami at 5pm. That block was awesome. My favorite character of all time no matter what happened/happens to him is and always will be Vegeta. He's just the epitome of a badass. I don't care how many times he got his ass handed to him, how many times he died, whether he gave up really being a bad guy and settled down with Bulma and had kids, he's still THE number 1 badass. Yea, badass.

young gohan was my favorite character, killing cell and all, now that was badass

awesome, now the five minutes till Namek blows up wont be 8 episodes long, that was the worst part about filler being in every episode of DBZ

OK, sortis, i get what you're saying about GT not being canon, but i'm not talking about canonity. I'm talking about animation QUALITY. GT by far had the best quality in production compared to most of DBZ.

hopefully the animation will be as good as the new special that came out a month or two ago.

This is AWESOME! I hope they re-do the whole story... I loved Dragonball Z, but the story could have been more developed and the world was very inconsistant. Trimming it down is gonna make it better, too. I definitely wouldn't miss any episodes of Goku and Picolo learning to drive... or the saiyaman saga... some new villains would be cool too, as long as they're original.

Hmm... didn't expect this one. Not at all. This has the potential to be awesome. Cutting out the filler will be great, though the original content will always be great to. Still, I remember sitting through the Sayian Saga watching Gohan talk to robots and sail down a river while Goku was outsmarting ogres thinking, "When the hell are they going to fight Vegeta! Get one with it!" In retrospect those episodes were entetaining, but lets face it: Just about everyone watches DBZ for the amazing fight scenes, and each time a filler episode came on I was dissapointed I would have to wait another day to get to the action ;)

I just hope they don't screw it up. If the animation is like GT then it's gonna suck. But hopefully the story is better.

Same here, ELBEASTER. I remember getting mad when I had to miss an episode, but I also getting mad when an episode ends right when you get to the edge of your seat, then sometimes the next episode wouldn't progress(maybe a flashback sequence or a subplot) just so the next episode would end basically where the one prior to that one did.

By the way, I hated it when DBZ seemingly did away with Faulconer's score and used something else. Other than Disturbed and other rock music being instituted in the movies, I didn't like the music used in the movies. Reuse Faulconer's music!

5:00 Dragonball Z
5:30 G Gundam
6:00 Yu Yu Hakusho
6:30 Ruroni Kenshion

Best line-up ever!

I know Toonami had other great shows like Zoids, but this was when it was the best.

Alot of the training/power-up fillers were a little necessary... Art the beginning of Z Goku was about as strong as Ryu(from Street Fighter) and by the end he's stronger than Superman. Pretty much the same for all the characters. Gotta show the transistion or it makes no sense. Though, I'm sure they're gonna keep the same formula. Badguys lay the smackdown, heroes train, heroes win... Hell, if it ain't broke... lol

Actually, most of the "filler" you're referring to was in the manga, therefore it is canon and not actually filler.

@ sga -

The sure as hell are not in the manga...have you ever even read the manga...you probably only watch the american dubbed dragon ball z too...

@ fullmetalgamer

yes i've read the manga, in fact, i have every single one.

just because it showed the training period more and in more detail doesn't mean that it's all filler.

and just so you know, i don't give a [frick] what you think of me or the movie. you're not going to change my mind.

end of story.
