Japanese Dragonball: Evolution Spot Shows Shenron

Man why do the Japanese get all the good trailer? Well i guess maybe because they're getting the movie before us makes a difference haha

Believe me i like Dargonball but the fight sences and pryotechincs with Shenron reminded me of the power rangers movies.

GOOD GOD! Seriously. What did you guys expect a live-action Dragonball movie to look like? It costs soooo much more to do what there doing than do the animation we're all used to. Give them a break! Besides, the effects don't look THAT bad, and it's not going to be as terrible as the new Street Fighter movie. I GUARANTEE that if you guys go into the movie with this "It's gonna suck" attitude, you're going to think it sucks. If you go in thinking "cool, a movie BASED off of Dragonball. Let's enjoy it for what it is", you guys are going to have a MUCH better time.

Well, the same could be said for the new street fighter movie. DBE really didn't deliver anything "BETTER" to hope for than the street fighter trailer did. Both movies "might" be entertaining but won't be "good". Which pretty much makes them rentals for me.

Yes it is loosely based on the monkey king, but it strayed far from it's origin.

Has anyone seen Outlander? that movie was made with less than half the budget of DBE and has better/similar effects than what we have seen so far, maybe they are saving the best for the movie (but then how are they going to get people excited to see it if the trailers all have the worst shots, although the Shenron one wasn't that bad), as I have said many times before, I do want to see a DB movie, but if they are going to slap the DB on some movie that is as cliched as possible, I'll skip it. As for the details... the problem it seems, is that they are minding all the small details and not seeing the whole concept of the movie (story and characters).

I don't mind certain changes as long as they remain true to the concepts, I understand the hair is quite hard to do so lose it (although I have seen some really cool fan made wigs), a talking turtle will look ridiculous? definitely, a talking pig and something that resembles a cat that can transform into anything, ridiculous too, but having the dragon balls made by 7 human mystics, Roshi using TaiChi as his fightingh style (did they ever see him fight in any of the martial arts tournament episodes?), Chichi as the popular hip girl who has a secret desire to fight, Goku complaining about not being strong enough to fight.... well that's just the start of what I feel destroys the DB concept both storywise and characterwise. From what I have seen it just seems like a generic Hollywood production which slaps the DB title to attract all the fans (and they add some details to appease the fans). It has happened many times before, remember Godzilla? remember Lost in Space? remember Wing Commander? remember Double Dragon? remember Catwoman? remember the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? remember Matrix Revolutions?

As for the movie having a bigger budget than the animation we are used to, Paris Hilton has a huge budget and she is still trash; a lot of money doesn't necesarily mean it will be better or even good.

I don't like the casting choices of some characters, I don't like the special FX I have seen, but I would let it slide if there was some feeling of respect for the movie, but what has leaked out and officially shown... well doesn't show much respect for anything. I sure hope it's not as bad as Mario Bros, but I also hope it bombs big time, I don't want to see what they do to the other characters and storylines.

And just because SF may be worse than DB, shouldn't make anyone give them a break. If a movie is bad, it will be bad regardless of there being worse movies.
