same here, i've been watching this movie grow since it was just a rumor going around about 8 years ago, so i kinda feel as if its my responsibility to go see it after all this time. I just think its gonna be a flop though, as far as i know Dragon Ball Z hasn't been shown on TV in a long time, I know Dragon Ball hasn't.

I guess no one can say shit about this movie until it comes out in theaters.

PS. If i'm not mistaken, Italian television (Italia 1) still transmits the DB series so it'll be quite a big hit there - wont be surprised if German Channels also show them...they transmit quite a lot of anime

They could've found somebody who could've played Krillin! Obviously they don't care if the person looks the part i mean look at Roshi. I don't mean to be so negative, Im going to see this movie no matter what, I just wish there was some things they could've done better.

Goku trained with Krillin, if my memory serves me right they found each other before meeting with Roshi and they competed for a training spot with him (Krillin only stayed because he brought Roshi a bundle of dirty magazines).

As for Yamcha...seriously I don't see it, I have squinted my eyes, I have put the monitor upside down, I have done everything and I don't see it, maybe I have to get glasses.

I dont think it will suck cuz of its changes from the show. i just feel that its a hard universe to bring to the big sceen. if they pull it off, great. if not, all well i didnt expect much anyway...

well, both of the piccolos are kind of combined in this character.

it saves Fox money (which we all know they're all about)

It saves screen time for telling the story,

It also would give the animators something more to work on w/ King Piccolo spitting out an egg, something that i don't think would fit well w/ the tone of this movie.

all in all, whatever you beef is w/ this movie...eat it. it's JUST a movie *as much as i love dragon ball* it's not the end of the world.

Since the movie is called Dragonball Evolution and not Dragonball(Z or GT) Its safe to say that the movie isn't directly based on any of the series. So, it won't match with any of the original stories. I am a HUGE Dragonball fan but I know that if they stick too close to the manga/anime, it would make a pretty crappy movie. One reason is because its a cartoon. Cartoons are 2D, they can get away with a lot more than 3D media. Alot of things like hairstyles and costumes from comics/cartoons just don't work in the real world(i.e. Wolverine's mask) in fact most of them would look rediculous. Another big reason is that Dragonball is a series, over 500 episodes in fact. There's no way you're fitting that much continuity in a 2hr flick and it make any sense. Not even with flashbacks. We are fanboys/fangirls. I've seen every episode of the Dragonball series at least 10 times. They could jump right into any saga in this flick and we wouldn't be lost, but the rest of the world would be, and the movie would bomb. Then, no more Dragonball flicks. So they have to compromise to make the story realatable for everyone. As much as I want to see Krillin and Vegeta, if they have to sit out a movie so we get a good and solid start to a Dragonball franchise, I understand.


P.S. I'm a little glad its not same story as the manga/anime, who wants to see the same story over again? Like the Star Wars prequals, it sucks when you know exactly whats gonna happen.

yeah...so are they planning to go for another Dragon Ball movie after this or are they just jumping into DBZ? I'm assuming since they're just jumping to Piccolo they're planning on heading into the Saiyan story.

Oh I have a question and im not trying to complain. If Goku doesn't have his tail how does he transform?

the star wars prequels sucked because the CGI characters acted better than the human actors.

As for the movie... I see way too many holes, the trailer says 7 mystics created the dragon balls (they show them as humans)... that would mean they aren't specific to powerful Namekuseins, thinking about possible sequels the saiyan saga could be made, but the freezer saga couldn't be made (at least in a respectful manner), also since there is no RR army no Android-Cell saga would be plausible either, that also cuts out future Trunks but since there is no Krillin it doesn't matter, just like the tail-less transformation (although he could grow one... I guess) nothing matters, that is why there is no Krillin, why Oozaru doesn't kill grandpa Gohan, why Roshi fights with Tai Chi, etc, etc. If they had had to cut a character, wouldn't it make more sense to cut Yamcha than to cut Krillin? some people will say that Krillin was dead at the time as if they were following the story, and we all know they aren't.

And why does no one believe me that showing Goku as a highschool nerd, even if it is for 20 seconds destroys everything the character is? I do want a DB movie (hell I'd love for six), and I understand they have to adapt it somehow but this just seems like manufacturing crap.

10 things i've noticed after seeing the 1st US trailer

1.7 "mystics" didn't create the Dragon Balls, Kami did

2.Where the [frick] is Krillin?

3.Where the [frick] is the tail?

4.Goku's grandfather is supposed to be dead

5.Roshi doesn't look like [frick]ing Roshi

6.Goku should be a little boy not some stupid teenage pretty boy.

7.What the hell is up with "Evolutions"? Not only is it one of the most over used subtitles in movies but it is usually used for sequels. It just makes the movie sound stupid.

8.Piccolo wasn't considered a "God From the Sky" he was the Demon King. Kami would be the "God From the Sky" if anything, but apparently he doesn't exist since the Dragon Balls we created by 7 "Mystics"

9.Once again where the [frick] is Krillin (honestly he was a very important part in the Dragon Ball series so why are you leaving him out!!!)

HaHa! Thats great, Crazy! And Jinx, you have a good point. If they cam make 6 or 7 Harry Potters, they can do the same for Dragonball. They have about the same amount of fans. One movie for each saga would be pretty cool... So far, the previews make the movie look not that bad(or that good) I've been waiting for a Dragonball movie since the first time I saw DBZ, so I'm gonna just try to keep an open mind. Besides, I know I'm gonna see it no matter what. Apparently this movie is based on the characters alone and none of the story. So, Im sure they're gonna work more characters in, in their own way, it just won't be anything like the series, unfortunately. Just hope they at least get the action good...
