I have to say this movie looks like a fun movie.

It seems kinda corny and Chatwin's acting is bad...but hey, I'll watch this movie in theatres anyway. Thanks for the clip SGA! It really makes me wanna see this movie more!

I really don't care anything about this movie... but not because I didn't like Dragonballs when I was a kid.

I just hope a sequel DOES come from it. Why? Saiyans, that's why. Raditz followed by Napa and Vegeta!!! That is a DBZ movie I'd shell out $8 to see.

Chatwins acting is crap, its like hayden christensen all over again, just ruining something we love with a cardboard performance, i will still go to see this movie but as my user name suggests i will be so high i'll just picture a bad episode of the cartoon.

This kid has way too much time on his hands. This is like a documentary for the Oscars. He probably likes DBZ Funimation style rather than the true version. He misses the point of what fans want. There will NEVER be and exact movie made from any concept of comic or anime, but it is nice to keep as close to the original as you can. The Goku speech is horrible. Bad script, acting and directing. Fights and special effects look better on a HUGE screen and I am not saying I may not see it (matinee only), but it could have been so much better. Reco, your a real fan and I give you that... But so many more people or fans would have paid 4 or 5 times to see it if it was made better. The idea is to make money. When Funimation got the rights to the cartoon they chopped it with bad scripts and bad voices. They wanted 5 year old kids and forgot the amount of real fans who eat this up. They even admit it at shows. It is not that people are haters, they are just disappointed.

At No. 4, Fox’s “Dragonball Evolution” premiered in eight Asian markets before its April 8 domestic opening. Director James Wong’s live-action adaptation of the famous Japanese cartoon series created by Akira Toriyama co-stars Justin Chatwin and Chow Yun-fat and drew $10.1 million from 2,110 screens.


Following heavy prerelease promotion in the region, it premiered at No. 1 in China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore. The China opening tally, $3.4 million from 855 locales, was Fox’s fourth-highest weekend opening in the market. “Dragonball’s” No. 2 Japan bow produced $3.3 million from 540 screens.

People fight over sports teams. I see and hear it all the time. I often wonder if the teams pay people to defend them. Fans are insulted that's all. SGA I give you the fact that Goku isn't asian, he is a saya-jin and until Goku no one knew about them. But it is funny that Funimation reps at many of the shows I have been to have agreed it was bad or could have been better. They learned and made better on their other anime titles. Their words not mine. If you watch the subs and watch the first DBZ, the lines were close. Not Funimation's version. They said it was made more for younger kids. Money... You know, dvds, toys, towels and such. Most people know this from tv and me from fan subs on VHS. That is what they relate it to. Many movies are released and hit big the first weekend especially when it is what people have wanted to see. Then they die if they are bad. So we have to watch. Funny though, I emailed the writer and he admitted it was bad and but said it is about money and work. I am not trying to knock this. I am just saying that it is a fast poor made project. If the idea is to make big money, wouldn't it be better to do it close to story. Again, no one will ever make it exact. I excepted many movies with many differences. But it still had most of the integrity or well thought out differences. No one seems to look at both sides. People don't know or care, but loyal fans do. Even in the Toyami interview he never said it was great. Just another version we should except. I can't be a hater if I said I would see it. But I will see it smart at a matinee. I hope it does well.

well, animeex, I agree with you there. You're one of the few people who discuss this movie without cussing and rating about how awful the movie is directing their anger at the last person who posted a positive comment. I respect you for that. (even though I admit that i've done the same towards 'haters'...and I'm trying to improve on that :P)

But I see what you're saying...gotta look at both sides of the story.

Thx. I admit to never reading the mangas so you have me there. To me this is my favorite anime and what started me off (next to old school, but then that gives my age away). I just hope they would have taken it a little more serious and got some points of views from fans or others. I was into comics big time and heard that a letter was finally answered... They said the movies are for people and not fans. One even said in Spiderman that it would be too smart for Peter Parker to make a web shooter. So they made it come from him. But he understood Nano Technology?? One at a show said why doesn't it come from his bit then?? LOL. People don't know the real story anyway and Hollywood should try it once and see if there is any difference. I will go see it. I have a 61 inch screen, but there is nothing like a theater sized screen. Haters don't have to see it and defenders like Reco (please no offense here) shouldn't say they are going to see it 5 times without seeing it yet. Hey off as it was... I saw Mortal Combat back in the day 4 times and Spiderman 3. Thx SGA... I have enlightened someone. :)

and I saw Mortal Kombat about 7 times in theaters...but then again, I was only 6 years old :P

The series had some great fights. I got it at a convention on DVD. I think it's like 26 episodes. I had some DBZ games like ps2 and saturn. I was never that good at them. The controls were bad. Although I made a profit on Final Bout.
