"Avengers: Age of Ultron" Mid-Credits Scene May be Misleading

A theory has surfaced about the mid-credits scene of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and it does make a lot of sense! The mid-credits scene seemed like a great way to lead up to future movies, but it may give more details than expected!

(SPOILERS)

After the credits roll and the screen turns to black, the usual mid-credits scene begins! A vault opens to reveal The Infinity Gauntlet! A hand reaches in, "Fine..." It is revealed to be Thanos, "I'll do it myself." Thanos now has The Infinity Gauntlet, or so we thought!

According to Kevin Feige there are TWO INFINITY GAUNTLETS! Thus, the one "Thanos" grabbed was not the real Infinity Gauntlet. Also, that might not really be Thanos. If you remember back to "Thor: The Dark World" Loki is still alive and has replaced Odin on the throne. Loki could easily walk into the vault and steal the fake gauntlet, but why would he be impersonating Thanos?

Thanos says "...I'll do it myself." So if it is Loki he could mean that since he is free to roam in Asgard he would just take The Gauntlet himself. "Thor: Ragnarök" could show Loki's return and with Thor searching for answers he could come upon Loki's return and stop him once and for all! The fake gauntlet would be retrived by Thor and he would have even more knowledge about the Gems and the real Infinity Gauntlet.

It's just a theory, but it makes a lot of sense and would explain a lot. With Loki on the loose and Thanos showing no sign of doing anything it would just make sense for Loki to have grabbed that Gauntlet. Although if it was Thanos, by saying he will do it himself, he could mean that by Loki and Ronan failing to retrieve the gems and deciding to take the Gauntlet himself. It could be seen either way, just a theory. We will just have to wait and see.

" According to Kevin Feige there are TWO INFINITY GAUNTLETS! Thus, the one "Thanos" grabbed was not the real Infinity Gauntlet."

Er, no. Feige saying that there are 2 Gauntlets doesn't mean there's 1 real one and 1 fake one...it means there's 1 Infinity Gauntlet for each hand. Because people have 2 hands. And so it makes sense to have 2 Gauntlets.

(plus he needed some way to explain the out-of-nowhere easter egg in Thor that showed a Gauntlet in Asgard)

I think the latter is what actually happened. Loki's whole life, he just wanted to sit on the throne of Asgard, so I doubt that he would suddenly abandon it, and go after the Gauntlet.

So your saying:

There is one fake one that Thanos has with all the gems

One with all the gems on Asgard

And all the gems are everywhere

@SauronsBANE

Although, doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of having two gauntlets if there's only six Infinity Stones for one? Or is this just a fashion statement and having two completes the package?

This isn't news. Get this to the FanFic section.

I think it's more believable that Thanos grabbed the actual left handed gauntlet from the comics than Loki or whoever "Thanos" is grabbed a fake one and the real gauntlet is the right handed one on Asgard that was likely there just for an Easter Egg. Are we suppose to believe that Asgard has an Infinity Stone, Gauntlet and the Eye of Agamotto in actual canon?

"A theory has surfaced..."

No.

I think the purpose of the second Gauntlet, aside from being a cop out, is a spare medium for all the stones to gather together.

@Kurban Haha you got a point there. Unless there's twice the amount of Infinity Stones than we've been previously led to believe (seriously doubt that), then I would guess that the Stones go in one Gauntlet and the other just completes the package, like you said.

But again, I think Feige's comment was just a way to explain away why we saw a Gauntlet in Asgard. I would've been 110% happy if they'd just ret-conned that away with zero explanation...or if they'd just run with that easter egg, went along with the Gauntlet somehow being in Asgard, and never showed the mid-credits scene in AoU with Thanos and the Gauntlet.

They tried to have their cake and eat it too, and now shit's just weird, yo.

There's nothing special about the Infinity Gauntlet. It's just a metal glove. There can be one, two, twenty of them. Without the stones/gems they're just gloves.

Maybe Thanos just built his own gauntlet?

The first could be the original, with replica stones in them, while the second could be made by Thanos.

More importantly, it just shows that until Avengers, Marvel didn't know which route they were going to take. Just as the scepter wasn't originally supposed to be that important.

What if this scene takes place during Thor Ragnorok or Infinity war part 1. Kind of like how iron man 2 post credit scene was in Thor.

What? How would that make any sense? It makes more sense for it to be Loki impersonating Thanos? Who..? Why..? What?

The mid credits scene should had quicksilver waking up and Tony Stark talking to him about his secret avengers team to set it up for Tonys team to go against caps
