Joss Whedon Reveals What 'Loki''s Scene In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Consisted Of

Joss Whedon talks in detail here about his fight to get Tom Hiddleston's Loki into Avengers: Age of Ultron, and even goes on to reveal what the scene would have consisted of and where in the sequel it would have appeared. It contained a pretty interesting tie to Thor: The Dark World...

Talking on the Avengers: Age of Ultron Empire Spoiler Podcast, Joss Whedon has revealed what exactly Loki's cut scene from the sequel involved. When he revealed that Tom Hiddleston's cameo had been cut from the movie, it sounded a lot like a decision made by Marvel, and Whedon's plan was for the God of Mischief to show up in the second part of the hallucination caused by Wanda.

"He’s so important to the mythos, and they’re like, 'We can’t get Tom. We can’t make a deal," Whedon said of his initial struggles to get Hiddleston into Avengers: Age of Ultron. "You can have Idris!' I was like, 'Oh, I love Idris! This is great!' And then I talked to Tom, saying, 'Just so you know, I feel bad not telling you, and I would never pressure you, but I really feel like it would be great if you could do this...' And they’re like, 'But we already have Idris!' And again, I had no problem there. Everybody’s in!" It doesn't sound like the studio were that keen on having to pay Hiddleston to reprise the role, but they gave in to Whedon in the end, and the scene sounds great!

"We even had a little reference to the fact that he’s taken the throne, which was Tom doing his Anthony Hopkins impression when Thor says, 'Oh, what would father say?' Then Tom does his Hopkins impression, and Thor’s like, 'That is uncanny!' It’s sort of like his subconscious is telling him that Loki was imitating his father. But he would never make that connection." That sounds very interesting, and you have to wonder why it was ever cut. After his surprise return at the end of Thor: The Dark World, perhaps Marvel would just prefer to keep fans guessing until Thor: Ragnarok? Either way, here's hoping this ends up as a deleted scene on the Blu-ray. Thoughts?

Little things are dripping out that perhaps Joss did not know what movie he wanted to make. I enjoyed Age of Ultron but there was a bit too much going on.

It's a real shame that so many scenes got cut. The movie really had some pacing problems. It was all over the place.

Hopefully the bluray version will deliver the actual movie, as it was intended to be.

He said that he didn't want anything to with captain marvel because she was too super powered and now says he wanted her in aou. I call BS on that.

They need to give us that director's cut. They can't hide behind the bullshit of the movie "being too long" on the home release.

Read between the lines.

With each interview it's showing Joss was not happy with Marvel's decision on what he could and could not do in this movie.

What's going to be more interesting, is the interviews he give after he fully away from the MCU.

I hope they release a directors cut on digital download so we can see a 4 hour avengers movie. All the stuff that they cut sound amazing!

I thought I read somewhere that Anthony Hopkins doesn't want to return to Thor, I think he was even quoted saying that he was done with the franchise.

Joss Whedon's twitter account has been deleted guys.

He's been getting a lot of hate from rabid fans and sjw's and i guess he thinks it's not worth the trouble.

From what I've gathered, it's been Disney Execs stonewalling him. Other than Kevin Feige, who makes creative decisions at Marvel Studios? And it doesn't look like Feige and Whedon had a falling out, I don't think we're getting the whole story. I could be wrong, though.

@Brainiac13

Even Favreau said Marvel butt in with IM2 and thats why it wasn't the full potential he wanted it to be. Micky Rourke hates Marvel because they cut a lot of his lines and acting from IM2. Nortan and Marvel don't play well. You have to be crazy if you don't think all directors get annoyed with studios over what they can and can't do.
Happens in all genres of film. But Marvel studios has their plan and they hire people to execute it their way. So now that Joss is no long part of the plan he doesn't refer to Marvel and him as "we" its now "they".
He did great and Im sure he's happy with the outcome of his movies.

My favorite moment from seeing this in the theater was when it went to black at the end and some guy up front, in a nasally whine, yelled "F*ck you Whedon!" All because Cap didn't say assemble. LOL!

Man some of these haters are pathetic I tell you. Poor Joss.

So now saying Whedon hates Marvel is a thing?
He has said million times almost everything in Ultron is what he wanted to do since before Avengers 1 and now because some scenes were cut, suddenly Marvel is again the evil company that doesn't let his directors do nothing.

Some of you are just lame
