Mark Ruffalo's most recent dismissal of a Planet Hulk movie has prompted HitFix's Drew McWeeny to reveal what happens to the character in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and speculate on what Marvel Studios has in store for him before the inevitable Avengers 3. McWeeny  suggests first that we should believe Ruffalo, Joss Whedon, and any other Marvel reps who have debunked the year-old Planet Hulk rumor, however, the journalist thinks fans of the Planet Hulk storyline will be happy with Marvel's "Phase Three" plans. Why? Here is where the spoilers begin; you've been warned!

"Bruce Banner continues to play a key role in things in [Avengers: Age of Ultron], and when the final war with Ultron spills onto the battlefield and out of the virtual realm, he has a major part to play. Unfortunately, that ends with him onboard a Quinjet on his way off the planet, with no way to immediately turn things around. He's going to have to ride out the trip. It's pre-programmed and he can't stop it." Drew McWeeny goes on to speculate that the Quinjet is likely headed to wherever the Guardians of the Galaxy are. Basically, the HitFix reporter thinks that the potential sequel to James Gunn's upcoming space epic will incorporate the Incredible Hulk.
"I suspect we'll see some sequences that very much feel like they're part of Planet Hulk story," McWeeny writes, "but the larger story will be about the Guardians finding a way to get Banner home, only to end up going with them." This would somehow bring Thanos to earth and boom; Avengers 3 begins. This route likely hinges on Guardians' success, but what do you think?

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Cobie Smulders Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, with Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, and James Spader. The film is set for release on May 1, 2015.

To be honest, I think this is a great way to got the Planet Hulk route. Combining him with the GOTG is a fantastic idea, and will likely be what brings them to Earth in Avengers 3. I would however like to see him stay and do stuff on Earth, but whatever,

I don't like the Planet Hulk storyline, so I hope they don't do this. To me, the appeal of Hulk has always been the Banner/Hulk struggle. That's where the focus should always be with his character. Shoving him into a Guardians film would really suck...

so they apparently are doing planet hulk, or just something similar, not a fan

Why Hulk, Groot is basically the GotG big bad (but friendly) giant.

I would rather see Iron Man in space for a brief moment, in the space armor. That would be amazing.

@AlexanderLykins Gahh, it doesn't make any sense for Banner/Hulk to be out and about on a space adventure.

Tony Stark makes alot more sense for him as a billionaire super genius inventor to make a natural progression into space.

2015: Ant Man

May 2016: Captain America 3

July 2016: Dr. Strange

May 2017: Thor 3

July 2017: Black Panther

Christmas 2017: Hulk/GOTG Crossover

May 2018: Avengers 3

Something like this, if he is right, would be amazing.

It's NOT a Planet Hulk storyline, if you read the original article. It would be Hulk and GOTG teaming up.

That sounds awesome! That's the only way I'd watch a 'Planet HULK' movie.

Why would the Quin Jet be pre-programmed to travel into space?

I get that they want to into space to bring the guardians in Avenvers 3/Phase 3. I would rather have seen Tony build his space armor.

I don't think this information is accurate. Wardell has not mentioned this at all, and his Tweets have already been validated for 90% with all the recent set photos leaking.

His scenario leaves the Avengers divided between east and westcoast with Tony leading the east coast avengers with Thor and Hulk in his team.

Cap is WC w/ falcon/rhodey/bw/hawkeye etc which also makes sense considering Cap3 is basically going to be Cap's team (west coast avengers) vs. masters of evil.

Of course, things could have changed. If Hulk is in GotG then he's basically taking Groot's spot.

Hmm, I'm pretty indifferent on this. I wouldn't care for a Planet Hulk-esque storyline, but the idea of seeing Banner teaming up with the Quill and co. is pretty enticing. I don't trust the source all too well either.

Wait, so did everyone already know about the whole virtual realm plot point?

I haven't been reading any of the spoilers (until now, of course) so if you're answer contains spoilers, do not respond.
