IGN Movies have released the following video interview with Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson from last week's San Diego Comic-Con. Perhaps the most interesting details here come from Jeremy Renner, who confirms earlier reports that Hawkeye will indeed have a much larger role in the sequel and that we'll get an "awesome" explanation about where his character has been since the events of 2012's The Avengers. We also get each of the actor's thoughts on Ultron, the relationship between the team, their multi-picture deals, and much more.

I hope Hawkeye gets more development, don't want him to be killed off before he gets his time to shine. I know Renner is too big for it, but I wished there was a Hawkeye show planned for Netflix. Would help add to his character a backstory quite a bit.

Don't really give a shit about Black Widow, Maria Hill, nick Fury and to an extent Hawkeye. Just give me a movie about the characters that actually matter.

Saw this yesterday. I'd take whatever is revealed here with a grain of salt. Renner clearly didn't want to be there, and it didn't appear to be any more than an off the cuff comment to generate enthusiasm for the film. Here's hoping, though.

"Oh you're suggesting that I get my own movie? Well I can't tell you that I die... " ::sips coffee awkwardly::

I personally think that he'd be one of the easiest characters to kill off. Send Hulk to space? Maybe. Kill Jane? Pepper? Maybe. If Hawkeye is utilized in this it will be for his send off. The comics are great but Marvel isn't going to make a Hawkeye movie. I agree with whoever said that his own Netflix series would've been a practical outlet in order to serve justice to the character. Whatever, people are going to die and he's on the top of my list.

Enough with this hawekeyes gonna die in avengers 2 crap alright sure his character was underutilized but that doesn't mean you gotta start tricking rioting about him dying imean the guy is gonna have a major role in this movie and more likely in future MCU films alright so lets just chill and enjoy the character for who he is

They should give Hawkeye a Winter Soldier paint ball mask with some enhancements. He could spot Black Widows CT from three blocks away and nail it. You know, with his "arrow." I think he has spent the last few movies in Canada, getting cheap full contact lap dances from damaged women that refer to themselves as North Americans. No one wants to be called Canadian, Tom Green is nuts.

Yeah, Hawkeye dies in a paint ball mask. You sad about it?

Seriously, in a Canadian meatball mask. It's called speculation. Who really gives a sh*t in the end? They won't give us Ultron and leave the team intact. Therefore I believe that he will be killed off. That would be my half ass theory based on the air pockets in my brain that you can now purchase as "hot pockets." The Canadian kind, like bacon.

I want a Hawkeye movie SO MUCH!

Likely not to happen. I can almost accept that.

I honestly can't see them killing the character off in the movies. If they did, we'd see another 'Coulson Lives' campaign only it would be 'Hawkeye Lives'.

If nothing else, he may pop up in other Marvel movies. If Black Widow gets her own movie, I would expect him to be a big part of that. I can't see how they wouldn't include him.

Either way it goes, I'm very happy that Hawkeye has a big role in this one.

I agree, Hawkeye with a mask would look badass, but what would be the reason for it, they'd have to create a reason. A modernized version of his classic mask would be awesome though.
thekabsin
thekabsin - 8/3/2014, 7:37 PM
The reason would be to enhance his vision after his eye sight was damaged from *insert gay porn scenario here. If Black Widow gets enhancements he should as well. I'd like to see him in a mask, they would have to justify it some how.
homodrome
homodrome - 8/3/2014, 7:48 PM
It'd be nice for Hawkeye to have the Black Widow role to Natasha's Captain America in her solo film. A complex female lead with a snarky hot supporting male hero.
homodrome
homodrome - 8/3/2014, 7:50 PM
I feel like the mask would be awesome but they don't wanna make him look too much like Arrow so they won't, ya know? Like hardcore fans would be super happy but branding wise the execs would poopoo it.
thekabsin
thekabsin - 8/3/2014, 7:52 PM
She isn't going to get a solo film. Didn't they combine the shield movie, together with her movie and Captains to create The Winter Soldier? Captain Marvel will be the first full length film based on a female character. Just what I think tho, don't yell at me for thinking online. I don't eat bacon anymore
thekabsin
thekabsin - 8/3/2014, 7:54 PM
They could pull off a mask, Stark could make him something sweet. I know that well never see him in a domino mask.
