RUMOR: Official Synopsis For The Dark Knight Rises Revealed?

The guys over at Cosmic Book News have "reportedly" been handed the official synopsis for The Dark Knight Rises, some of it we already knew, but now it is complete.

It doesn't reveal a lot about the plot but Cosmic Book News have just been handed the full synopsis for The Dark Knight Rises... Now I will be honest - a lot of this we have already guessed, but now we have the official synopsis for the movie below.

Note: We would caution you to take this with a grain of salt due to a lack of source but it's so vague and generic that it's really nothing we haven't been able to deduce from the set images and videos we've been posting over the last few months.

Every hero has a journey. Every journey has an end. Christopher Nolan returns to complete the epic Gotham trilogy that launched with Batman Begins and reached the stratosphere with the billion-dollar blockbuster The Dark Knight.

Batman is now hunted by the law led by his friend Commisioner Gordon for taking the blame of Harvey Dent's murders and protecting his reputation. He must quickly deal with the arrival of new villain Bane who is bent on the destruction and chaos of Gotham City, face old wounds and get a handle on the enigmatic Selina Kyle before his city is lost for good.

Oscar Winner Christian Bale reprises his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman for the third time along with stars Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commisioner Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. Inception stars Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt join the cast as Wayne Enterprise board member Miranda Tate and Gotham Cop John Blake. Rounding out the cast are Anne Hathaway as the sleek Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as the powerful villain Bane.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy Production, a Christopher Nolan film, "The Dark Knight Rises." Nolan directed the film from a screenplay written by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan are the producers, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers. "The Dark Knight Rises" is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

Eh, not much but this practically matches up to how TDK's synopsis was.

"The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

But that's how its supposed to be, when it comes to these kinda things. I'll admit though, I wish it gave in to more details that can heighten people's anticipation.

it doesn't reveal much,but I guess it's ok for a synopsis.

"He must quickly deal with the arrival of new villain Bane who is bent on the destruction and chaos of Gotham City"

why every villain wants to see Gotham City burn? there's plenty of f*cked up cities out there :P

@ConnerKent: Don't even go there. No one wants to live through that again. Besides, unlike Spiderman, this Batman series has proven that multiple "villains" and supporting characters can be woven into the same story without tearing it apart. Both Batman Begins and TDK have proven this.

lol @CaptainDusty.

I'm going to watch this film, obviously. I just hope its not such a slow pace like TDK. If it weren't for Heath Ledger's legendary scenes as the Joker, I still think the film wouldn't have done anywhere near it has. I know I will most likely be called a troll for stating my opinion, but its true!

Hopefully it wouldn't be so damn long either.

I really can't see Bane as a leading villain. In comics, he's held his own relatively well. I just worry that that same presence won't be AS dominant as, say, Christopher Nolan's Joker, when it comes to the big screen.

I always said since TDK that catwoman would be in the third one. But with all this other stuff happening in gotham I can seem to grasp how she could be involved. Or why she'd be important.

Why does every Batman villain need to destroy Gotham City?

I get that it goes back to the first movie, but I was hoping Bane would just be some psycho that wanted to humiliate Batman.

Surely TDKR will be as good as Dark of the... I mean, Hopefully it'll be on the same level as Green Lan... I mean... It has to satisfy our need for a great trilogy, just like X-Me.... Well... At least it'll make a lot of money.
