Ed Norton Wants A Villainous Role In Batman 3!

Ed Norton Wants A Villainous Role In Batman 3!

In a recent interview, the actor has once again shared his feelings on leaving behind the role of Bruce Banner and said that he'd love to be in Christopher Nolan's next Batman movie...possibly as the Riddler!

"I think I said everything I want to say in the one thing I put out about that" he explained to IGN Movies when asked about how he feels about stepping down from the role of Bruce Banner in The Avengers and future Hulk movies.

"It was a great privilege to do it, and I couldn't be more appreciative of everybody's support and positivity towards that because I love those films too. And I hate it when they miss. I hate it when they miss on one - it seems like such a wasted opportunity. But the truth is I'm probably more naturally interested in doing something that I haven't done. I have only good thoughts towards that though."

Most interesting though was what the actor then went on to reveal that it's Chris Nolan who he thinks is currently making the best superhero movies, and that he'd love to work alongside him: "Chris Nolan's making the best ones out there by far. "I'd do one with him. He's set a new bar for sure, and I think he's done a great, great job."

When he was then asked about whether he'd be up for playing a villain in Batman 3 he said, "That would be fun, I would not say no to that. And when Norton was then quizzed whether a character like the Riddler would be someone he'd like to portray: "Your guys can put their votes in on that."

@ Superguy

Surely you mean Black Mask?

No, he must have meant Blue Beetle.

Norton...Nigma. Nigma...Norton. E. Norton...E. Nigma.
I don't see it. lol

It could work. It could also melt down into of control freak liquid magma. Neither Nolan nor Norton are known for being...um...flexible. Norton wants to rewrite most of his roles and Nolan thinks the script is chiseled in stone... might be a bad combination. Might be Oscar gold, who the hell knows.

He would actually make I great Riddler!

I'm just not sure if The Riddler is the best bad guy for Bats 3.

Maybe Black Mask played possibly by Guy Pearce? Anyone?

NERO - 9/25/2010, 3:17 AM
I agree with MrMurdock and maybe SuperGuy (if this is indeed what he was talking about) Black Mask is still my pick just because I really don't want a rehashed Batman villain. This is Nolan's last hurrah. Throw us a curve man. Let's see someone we haven't seen before.

I agree with MrMurdock too! He would make a great Riddler, but just dont know is The Riddler right villain for the third movie.
I would vote Talia Al Ghul, Two-Face and Bane(The realistic version)

Yes, he'd make an awesome Riddler but there is no way that Chris Nolan would allow an egomaniac like Norton come on board and start demanding the sort of creative control he had in The Incredible Hulk! I'm still hoping that the DiCaprio/Levitt/Hardy as Riddler rumour ends up panning out!

LEE: Lol, are you talking about the picture I added or the change in headline? :P

And does anyone else think that saying Nolan is making the best superhero movies (more than likely true) is a swipe at Marvel? That or he's just ass kissing for a new job now he's list out on that Avengers paycheck! :D

If the villain is Riddler? My choice is Tom Hardy! That guy f*cking rules!:D

JOSH @ Both lol! : D

Gotta admit tho dude, he would be a gr8 RIDDLER, just saddens me we wont see him in THE AVENGERS!

Real shame.

AlexDeLarge666 @ HARDY would be cool but prefer him for DEADSHOT!

Damn DEADSHOT's perfect for BATMAN 3 with BATMAN on the run an all!

The only reason I would love to see the RIDDLER is to show Batman using his brain!

HE IS THE WORLDS GREATEST DETECTIVE AFTER ALL.

That hasnt been portrayed yet in batman films.
FrankGarret
FrankGarret - 9/25/2010, 4:13 AM
More speaking the truth, really. Iron Man was brilliant, but everything since is just groundwork for The Avengers. I have high hopes for Captain America, though.

I'd like two villains, one familiar and one new. Hugo Strange and Catwoman, maybe.

I mean how many movies are out there with a female antagonist presenting a viable threat? Nolan could do it, and it'd be a fresh direction for Batfilms, films in general and Nolan himself.

Superguy @ Res Skull lol!

Hey I've done it too dude, I put Deadpool instead of Deadshot a while ago heh heh! ; D

MrMurdock @ Hellz yes for PEARCE as BLACK MASK man!

Wont happen tho, us fans never get what we want! : (

Ed Norton would make an excellent Riddler...I can really see him in the role. But it saddens me that we won't be seeing him as Bruce Banner anymore, allthough I think Mark Ruffallo is going to do a damn good job...maybe more so!

Wow that's funny i never thought of Norton in Nolans Batman, but he does seem to have the character sense to fit in Nolans Universe as the Riddler. Of course we still don't know who Nolan's villain is, but Norton would be an excellent villain.
Hawksblueyes

Good stuff Josh!

Norton would make an excellent Riddler. Having said that, I doubt Nolan would allow all the changes to the script required to bring it up to Ed's crystalline standards. =D

Catwoman could be fun.

For some reason i've always liked the "Mistletoe" scene where they realize who they are, from Returns.

But i would really like to see their dynamic as it is now in th comics. and that would take atleast 2 films. sigh

Norton would be a good Riddler, but I'd prefer to see him play Hush

Josh@ I agree with you..Norton is once again begging for a part. He needs to get over himself and face reality. People aren't going to want to work with you if you think you are bigger than the actual film and others you work with. Yeah..."Mr. Classy" made a dig at Marvel. I doubt they have lost any sleep after they have moved on from him.

Norton isn't going to get broke no matter how much haters rub their hands over it. Sorry, bitchy opinions don't reach as far as you think. He just did a film coming out with De Niro, lol fails.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt should play the Joker. His similarity to his friend Heath Ledger is a great opportunity for the filmmakers and one they shouldn't miss.

@joshw

"no way that Chris Nolan would allow an egomaniac like Norton come on board"

you mean like christian bale? it's pretty clear that nolan respects people with passion. norton would fit in.

"he's just ass kissing for a new job now he's list out on that Avengers paycheck"

you mean the cheap paycheck marvel was offering? he could do more movies and earn more in the same timeframe.
