Michael Caine Talks Batman 3 Villain/More From Stanley Tucci On Captain America!

Two brief pieces of news for you here. First off, Michael Caine reveals who exactly knows the identity of the villain in Batman 3. And secondly, Stanley Tucci talks a little more about working with Marvel Studios...

Earlier this morning while speaking to Chris Moyles on BBC Radio 1, the veteran British actor was quizzed about when filming will start on the upcoming sequel to which he replied that it, "probably starts in May," and he "assumes I’m in it but you never know in this business."

When he was pushed on who exactly the villain will be in Batman 3, Sir Michael Caine would reveal nothing, and responded by telling the radio host that: "no one apart from Chris Nolan and his brother Jonah Nolan, know who the baddie is yet."

Batman 3 will be released in cinemas on July 20, 2012!

Stanley Tucci, who plays Professor Abraham Erskine in Captain America: The First Avenger, was asked about working on the upcoming movie and while he revealed nothing new about what we can expect to see from his character he clearly likes both Marvel and the money the role has brought him as you can see from his answer below.

"I was really happy to do it, because you make more money with it than with other films. I loved the script and loved the role. Those guys at Marvel are just fantastic."

Captain America: The First Avenger currently filming in the UK and is set to be released on July 22, 2011!

Riddler is definately going to be the villain, with te way that Nolan is making these films it would only make sense. In the first the main villain was a psychotic dude, then in the second it was another pschotic dude, so in the third it would only make sense to have another psychotic dude.

As for the villain, Javier Bardem as Bane, no other villain, except maybe Talia Al Ghul. Batman needs someone who challenges him physically this time.

Nope. He is well known only because of the old Tv show which showcase3d him as a formidable villain. He has very rarely been a top adversary for batman in the comics because most writers are rightly aware that he sucks ass!

Anyway, nice one Josh. I was hoping he would say something about Batman 3 on Moyles! Michael Caine is the Daddy, and is now on Twitter by the way!

The problem with the Riddler is that Heath Joker made a similar character, it was like a combination on both villains........so The Gangster is done, the Joker a Riddler is done so whats next???? probably Bane but i don't see Nolan going into mush Science Fiction

@Intruder - I know what your saying regarding agility and what not, but I have never, ever, been concerned about Catwoman killing, or even maiming Batman. That's what I'm really looking for in Bane. Make Batman the physical underdog.

Yeah he's smart, he sends Batman riddles and get him all a tizzy!...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I'm not sure which comics your reading, but if you can name me one iconic batman story or arc which focuses on The Riddler as the bad guy(aside from Hush which gives him the ultimate limelight specifically BECAUSE Batman would never suspect him due to his uselessness) you win a Cassidy prize!:)

I'm sure Nolan could make The Riddler more interesting, but my argument has always been, why bother when there are other, better villains that he would't have to update/alter to be successful?

Bane doesn't have to be that sci-fi but I don't think he just needs to be some hired goon either.

With regard the the venom steroid, you can either drop it completely and just have him as a perfect physical specimen, or you can include it without the hoses running into his brain and relate the chemical to the fear toxin. No giant physical change, just increased strength.

Everybody for gets Bane is supposed to be highly intelligent. He's the evil Doc Savage. He should come to Gotham specifically because Batman is there, for the challenge in expanding his empire.

Besides all that just imagine Javier Bardem and Christian Bale, in their civilian cloths, both suspecting the others secret identity, facing off. The quality of acting alone could create so much tension that the film could literally rip in half.

Well Ra´s Al Ghul is not a psycho. He is just a man with a mission!:)

Talia Al Ghul (Marion Cotillard or Aishwarya Rai), Bane (Javier Bardem), Two-Face (Aaron Eckhart), Hugo Strange (John Malkovich) and Rupert Thorne (Anthony Hopkins) are my choices

But if the villain is Riddler! Tom Hardy or Johnny Depp should play him

Firefly aka Garfield Lynns (Jackie Earle Haley) would be good villain too

@MassEx - Hmmmm...I still think he is a loon. Remember he does want to wipeout ALL homosapiens and just have a world only populated or run by mutants.

Nah not into Black Mask either really. Although if they went with Catwoman, they could us elements of their violent history in the comics. I would like Catwoman ideally. I think she makes a great physical/emotional villain and also serves as a love inter4est of sorts. But there would probably need to be someone else more ruthless too. Penguin..meh. Bane could work, but they would never go with the Venom stuff and some fans would riot(not that i'd care really). Deadshot would be good, but maybe not well known enough.

I dunno. I'm sure whoever Nolan goes with, the film will be great, I just really don't want to see The Riddler on screen again, in any incarnation. Jim Carrey still gives me nightmares.

Does everybody think that The Dark Knight was so reality based that we can't go back to at least the level of sci-fi elements in Batman Begins? A super steroid is not that big of a deal in my opinion.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you how a Bane film would provide the perfect ending to the trilogy.

Batman dismantles Bane's criminal empire, but never takes down the man himself. He discovers that Bane is fleeing back to South America, tries to stop his plane, goes through a huge fight with a ton of Bane's minions, but Bane ultimately gets away.

Exhausted, Batman goes back to the Batcave to regroup. It turns out Bane faked leaving the country and he ambushes Batman in the Batcave. Huge fight. Batman is getting clobbered. Bane raises him up to break his back, and DOES IT. Throws Batman down in disgust. Is just about to deliver the killing blow by stomping on his neck or something. Suddenly Bane is riddled by bullets by either Alfred or Gordon, who then rushes to Batman's side. Slow zoom out from Batman's body as shown from above. Roll credits.

Fantastic, isn't it? I ought to turn this into a full fledged fan fic.

I have to agree that Bane would be a great villain to do. He's extremely intelligent; his will can only be matched by Batman hence how he survived the Venom process. With the Venom, Bane is Batman's superior in physical ability, and the world he came from left him with no remorse or sympathy leaving a monster who’s capable of anything.

This makes him a formidable opponent to Batman in almost every way. They could very easily modify the Venom back-story to coincide with the fear toxin in Batman Begins, make increased adrenaline a side effect of the toxin. Have the formula modified to focus on increased adrenaline which would give him the increased strength without having to go super fantastic on the body modification, but still keep it as a pumped serum that is injected through an apparatus, which could keep the original look but modifying it to look more realistic. This would also give Batman an edge because if he can disable the device then it will diminish his strength, leveling the playing field.

I personally think that Bane is an excellent adversary for Batman in the film world and believe that it could be done extremely well, in the right hands, and could be a great final chapter in the Nolanverse.

Well from what I understand of Nolan's Bat-universe the whole story revolves around Gotham and it's association with organised crime.

Batman is basically trying to save Gothams soul, so to speak.

So expect a villain(s) who can easily become a part of organised crime, corruption and the underworld.

If I was a betting man (and luckily for me I'm not) I think Nolan might just plump for both The Penguin and The Riddler. Obvious I know BUT they're both inkeeping with the story.

I can easily see The Pengiun being a mob style boss or even a corrupt politician (though Burton did that) destroying Gothams rotten core.

As for The Riddler - well Batman is now a fugitive, remember - so I can see The Riddler as a corrupt lawman or politician leading the investigation to track him down. And then Gordon and Batman have to 'uncover' his corruption and bring him down through their own investigation.

Just my thoughts anyway...

As for Batman 3 villains, I'd like to see what Chris Nolan would do with the Riddler, but would be much more interested in finally seeing Batman take on someone who completely overpowers him like Bane or Killer Croc! Like most DC heroes, Batman doesnt really have that brilliant a rogues gallery (in my opinion anyway) but I have faith that whoever they choose will be handled excellently by Nolan - just look at the great stuff he did with the Joker and Two-Face for example!

@MarsAmbassador - I've mentioned this before, but the only really great Riddler plot I can think of is one where the Riddler's face is hidden and there are a whole bunch of great actors (Depp, Decaprio, Pearce)cast in the film as people suspected as the Riddler and they don't reveal who it really is until the end. That could be fantastic. Also, expensive. Multiple ending would have to be filmed, of course, to keep everyone in the dark.

@Intruder - I figure breaking him would create some finality, but still leave it open for sequels. He can recover.

Heck, wasn't there talk of Batman dying in the third one? That may have just been from board postings.

I think Riddler would fit very well if he was a cyber terrorist mixed with a little Jigsaw from the Saw movies. He can hack into computers to steal money and leave his victims in a trap with a riddle on the screen. The cops or batman has to type in the answer if it's right the victims are free, if not then the trap kills them. either way he buys enough time to be far away and lessen his chance to get caught.

I can totally see them doing exactly what you describe. I just think my ideas are...better. Um, which I guess means I have an ego the size of the internet. Well, the first step is recognizing that I have a problem, I suppose.

NO RIDDLER. Horrible villain. Why do people want him??? And "almost on par with the Joker"? WTF? Like I've said before, Harley and Ivy :D :D :D(and it could totally work in the nolanverse)
