RUMOR: Black Mask, Hugo Strange, Killer Croc And Talia Al Ghu All In The Dark Knight Rises?

Got a pinch of salt handy? Good. An "insider" is claiming that they've see the script and that all of the above villains will play a part! Hit the jump to read a pile of plot details and spoilers about all that and more...

We all know how unreliable these anonymous sources tend to be, but I know how desperate we all are for news on the third, and final, installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise so figured I'd let you guys be the judge of whether this is genuine or not. If nothing else, it makes for an interesting read as there are a lot of genuinely excellent sounding plot points and characters included in the outline. The only thing that makes me doubt it, is the fact that it sounds just TOO busy for one two and a half hour film! Anyway, enough talk. Read on...

"My buddy works at WB, he emailed me the script, I asked him if I can "spoil the news" he said sure go ahead but not many would believe me, so I said ok. In other words, I have the script, whether you believe me or not, is up to you, btw, we will be getting a press release in mid January - qoute me on that!

"Main villain of the film is Dr. Hugo Strange, and I believe Tom Hardy is playing Black Mask. This movie will indeed blow everyone to shreds! It's more violent and darker then TDK. The female lead is Talia al Ghul and Sarah Essen, Bullock is in the film. Dr. Hugo Strange is the main villain, Black Mask replaces Salvatore Ramoni recruits Killer Croc as the muscle to take down the Bat. Killer Croc is known to be a psychopathic killer with diseased reptile function skinned, who's an expert in hand to hand combat and extremely agile.

"I don't want to spoil the opening sequence, but they mention both [Harvey Dent & the Joker], and they give a Harlee Quinzel reference. Batman and Gordon are on good terms, but they keep a very low profile since Gordon is the one who's leading the task force, and Bullock hates Gordon.

"Bat chopper is in the film, there will be flashback scenes with Ras and a young Talia. Talia is the second villain, Black Mask is the side villain much like how Carmine Falcone and Salvatore Maroni was in the Batman Begins and TDK, they tie in Talia with Dr. Strange. There is no Robin. Batcave is back, Batman has a shit load of new weapons as well, some seem a bit unrealistic though. Bat plane much like a jet plane, no mentions of a new Batsuit just yet.

"We see a torture scene with the Scarecrow by Dr. Strange, apparently Scarecrow was truly working for Hugo in Batman Begins. It was Hugo Strange who supplied Scarecrow with the fear toxin, Scarecrow failed him, so Strange wanted to teach Scarecrow a lesson in "true meaning of fear." Strange and Talia are tied in due to the fear toxin, Killer Croc and Black Mask are thrown in. Batman is combating a lot of guys in the movie, there's a lot of action here, epic fight scene with Talia on the rooftop of Wayne enterprise, a superb action scene with Killer Croc in the Narrows, and an awesome Black Mask confrontation at Arkham. Also, Scarecrow gets killed by Dr. Strange in Arkham."

So, there you have it. A creative piece of fan fiction is the most likely answer to whether or not this is genuine (can you imagine how tight security must be around a script as hot as The Dark Knight Rises) but stranger things have been proven true before now! I think the most obvious way of deducting it's authenticity will be whether or not Warner Bros contact CBM and the other sites reporting this and ask for it to be removed. Stay tuned, and be sure to share your thoughts below!

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20, 2012!

"It was Hugo Strange who supplied Scarecrow with the fear toxin..."

Ummmm....I'm pretty sure it was Ras. Remeber that pretty blue rare flower Bruce had to bring to the top of the mountain? I was pretty iffy about this before I read it, but that just assures me this is BS!!

Still and interesting read. I would love to see all those villains in the next film!!!
oh, and yes @LEEE Deadshot, too. lol.

I call BS. No way nolan would make the Spidey 3 mistake of too many Villains. How many are there, 5? No, Nolan is not that stupid.

Even though I think this would be too many villians, I really like all these characters.

The guy mentions that it was 256 pages long (I think that's over 100 more than The Dark Knight) so if this is true, my guess is that he saw some sort of longer, unedited plot outline/script rather than the finished piece. Personally, I don't think it's true. It sounds bloody excellent though, so here's hoping that it is! :P

@Josh: Yeah, it's already posted by Edit Ninja in scoops...But all of this just doesn't sounds right, it's more likely that this story is for Arkham City video game. We already know Strange is in it so who knows, maybe the rest of this villains are also.

Even if this the 'too many villains' thing applies, that sounds good. But still...come on..seriously....I hope it didn't get leaked like that.

But here's to disappointment! I was seeing Tom Hardy as Doctor Strange. Black Mask, not so much.

yeah....I call BS on this. WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much going on here. The ONLY way this would work is having the film be really long (i.e. Lord of the rings). Though i do hope one of these villains make it in the film.

This sounds fantastic & I must say it does sound like it would top TDK believe it or not but I just don't see WB & Nolan allowing word to leak like this I would rather wait 4 it like I did TDK in 08 when I say Batman (Bale) & Joker (Ledger) it was excited because they gave us a sneak peak I would rather wait to see whats nxt when Nolan and WB/DC is ready for us 2 see it, I even waited for Batman Begins and it was worth the wait so I will do the same but I must say it sounds impressive & it could work but lets be patient & see ;)

@Ashdm: If there's one director in the world that will know how to use +3 villians in one movie, certainly is Cris Nolan.

@JoshW: Please get a confirmation. I suffer from High Blood Pressure. This rumor can give me a heart attack if I read it once again... which I'll do after posting this.

BTW, I hope it ended being true. Not most of the plot details since a auteur like Cris, won't make a simple mistake in the story like "Dr. Hugo Strange providing the toxin to Scarecrow". Strange providing the toxin to Ras sounds more credible.

If there is one thing I know for sure is that Nolan is keeping this movie very close to his chest.

I say that this would be really cool, I'd like to see Nolan's take on multiple villains he had like 3 or 4 in the last one. and 3 in the first one. This could be really cool! :-D

I would like a Hush movie though... he'd fit really well into Nolan's universe.

I can live without Black Mask. Give us Killer Croc so Bats can have somebody to go mano a mano. Obvioulsy, Nolan wants to bring in the villains who haven't been in the movies or live TV. I wouldn't mind Catwoman being in the movie though.

I've just seen the other version of this story in "Scoops" and can only assume it didnt make the main page because it neither had the full script overview (only about eight lines) and wasnt really that well put together as an article. I was just talking to Galactus about this story and he was ok with me posting it, but I'll double check with him when I get chance. Thanks for the heads up regardless.

Oh, and Bat-Chopper FTW! :D

I know that Nolan's version would be a million times less cheesy and far more realistic, but would he really include that in one of his movies!? I doubt it...

Complete and utter SHYTE!!! Not that i don't believe it, but if this is indeed true, this "synopsis" Shop-Vacs ASSES!!! Sorry, but that's just too much for me. Talia and Strange(Hardy) "OR" Black Mask(Hardy) as the only TWO main villains is PERFECT!!! Hardy is just too talented to be a mere side villain to me, and the addition of Killer Croc & Talia as freakin' THIRD TEAR characters REEKS to high heavens. Now the reason i say it "could be" true is because of Inception's fourth dream level, showing that Nolan is far away from being against pushing the enveloppe... nay, shoving it! And since there were plenty of side villains in TDK, i wouldn't be surprised if all this was true at all. If it is though, he better pull not merely a "rabbit trick" but a "crocodile from his ass" trick literally, and blow our minds to smitherines. But with all those details, that's a gargantuously tall order even for Nolan.

I think this could actually happen.

Cause really it's not that many villains. Black Mask & Killer Croc are both gangsters who had a big role on Nolans universe but aren't really villains. Talia is probably getting revenge for her father and falls in love with bruce and probably recruits or takes over killer croc and black mask business. While Hugo is the new head of Arkham, and along the way he get's obsessed over batman and helps gordon with capturing him while having his own sinister plans.
AC1
AC1 - 12/15/2010, 1:02 PM
This sounds more like SPIDERMAN 3 than Batman 3 (TDKR)... but if Croc wasn't in it, or was reimagined as an enforcer for Black Mask, it might work... so yeah basically what SuspenseSmith said... but I can't help but think Hugo AND Talia will make the film more psychologically challenging for Bats and not a lot physical threat, so maybe Croc should be in it...

MAYBE HUGO STRANGE GOT THE TOXIN FROM RAS WHO GAVE IT TO SCARECROW
TheManwithaPlan
TheManwithaPlan - 12/15/2010, 1:06 PM
The only thing I can think of that would link Hugo, Talia, and Scarecrow would be this - Hugo wants to take Ra's poison and make it better so he finds scarecrow, but scarecrow tells him the only one who knows how to perfect it would be an, Al Ghul. So, Hugo finds Talia and Talia joins Hugo because She thinks Batman caused the death of her father and she wants revenge.

BTW, 4 villains... really? must they make all 3rd franchise movies crammed with villains?

This sounds like a complete train wreck.
Ive been collecting Batman comics my entire life,
I actually inherited part of my father's collection.
Why dont you just throw Calendar Man in there to round out
the D-list rogues gallery?

Deadshot FFS!
And the Riddler as Saw-like manipulator, but you never see him in the movie.
Even Catwoman makes sense.
What happened to Oswald as an arms dealer?

These villains. with the exception of Croc (who would like mondo-retardo in a Nolan film) are all recent with no old school history.

George88 - 12/15/2010, 1:11 PM
I call bull. It sounds like this guy has just got all the villain rumours and stuffed it all together and claimed its the script. Doubt Nolan would include 4 villains seeming as the last two movie had two main villains with a side villain.
