Still No Studio Greenlight For Batman 3

Still No Studio Greenlight For Batman 3

Chris Nolan confirms he is working on a follow up to The Dark Knight, but apparently WB have yet to put the "official" stamp on the proceedings..

Apparently this news originated at Variety during an interview about a possible Inception video game(as reported on in Ed's article below) but there seems to be no trace of it now. I picked up the story at Bleeding Cool who report..

Yes, he’s writing another Batman, which is still to be officially greenlit (of course). Nolan even made a joke on the matter:

They haven’t told me they don’t want to do it, so I’m hopeful.

I wouldn't take this as a sign of ill omen for another movie. Its not unusual for a studio to hold of on this type of official info. Look at The Avengers! Marvel still haven't issued any kind of press release confirming Joss Whedon as director, he had to reveal it himself at Comic Con.

Anyway, aside from the film's expected release date of July 20th 2012, we have had no other official announcements regarding Nolan's third Batman flick. Nolan has also said that Mr Freeze definitely won't be the villain! Thanks for that Chris, I'm sure you eased many a fan's mind there. Short of that there have been rumors of Joseph Gordon Levitt in talks to play The Riddler, and talk of either Catwoman or Talia Al Ghul being female villain/love interest.

Great Find Ror!

yeah, this doesn't make much sense! seeing how money hungry studios are i am very surprised this wasn't greelit before TDK even came out. I mean like Shaman Said, the GL sequals have been greenlit and they haven't even released the first one! WTF nut!!!

GREATEST NAME EVER!!!

He's not bringing Two-Face back. I agree it would be cool, but it ain't happening. He's said this several times.

I would be happy to eat those words in summer 2012 though.

Superdog@ True, no doubt it will get made we are just surprised it is moving slowly. but to be honest with something as coveted as Nolans batman universe, i prefer it to move slow rather than quick and be shite!

@Shaman, GL2 was probably greenlit so quickly because they're well aware Marvel ERRRR Fox's interest in having Reynolds film a role for a company theyre in competition with.

I can't explain how excited I am for this film, while Ive never been a supporter of DC I will blindly and faithfully walk into anything with Nolan's stamp on it. Im also excited to see how he incorporates hiss recurring cast of actors into his final stint in the world of Gotham.

My not biased? What? Ill blindly and faithfully walk into anything by someone who has a proven track record of releasing great films. Just like how Ill have the biggest nerdgasm ever once Daniel Day-Lewis, Javier Bardem (sp) and Lio DiCaprio star in a film by Nolan. Your horse is dead already, find something else to beat on

Simply because one draws inspiration fro something doesnt mean they repackaged previously released work. The genesis for any idea is ones own, we use other people as inspiration as a guideline for how to properly use our idea. Speaking in your terms, David Lynch Im sure ripped someone off before him, and again someone before that.

wb is doing this right fox could learn a lot from them. wb has waited for chris nolan patiently because they know he can make a great story, and fox just tries to throw out film after film while their franchise will slowly fall apart, and wb will just rise and rise as long as they take there time focus on story, and not just throw out crap.marvel needs the rights to x-men.

lmao, is that a problem? Why put faith in someone that has never let you down, thats just madness!!

Yeah [frick] you Nolan for consistently making great movies that defy all expectations. How DARE you try to bring a bit of artistic merit into the mainstream block buster again and again while getting nothing short of great performances from you cast .. again, consistently, and attempting to make average joe audiences think along with their explosions.

What a prick!

Oh and Intruder, I'm a massive David Lynch fan and short of the fact that they both make dark, at times cryptic movies, your gonna have to explain that comparison to me dude.

Is there really complaining about a lack of no "Official Greenlight"? They set the release date and does anyone really believe that the WB won't greenlight it! I know its the internet but use some common sense!

Nolan is nothing like David Lynch. LOL

Does David Lynch do blockbuster action movies? David Lynch does dreamy, artsy movies. Nolan's Inception was hardly dreamy. In fact, some people criticize that his dream world was too structured, completely opposite of Lynch. The only thing they have in common is nonlinear narratives, but many other directors have done that as well.

I was thinking Batwoman should be introduced to Batman 3 for the villainesses Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy teaming up with The Joker and Mr. Freeze what do everyone think ?

If he's looking to make this a trilogy...Batman 3 would be the "end". Which means it would need to be MORE epic, meaning the villain(s)
need to be the culimation of all Batman in the Nolanverse has gone thru.

So...

- Beginnings
- Scarecrow
- Becoming a public enemy
- Joker
- Two-Face
- Death of Rachel

Hmm....what villain could trump all of that epicness?
:-/ It's quite a dilemma.

I vote Riddler, Maybe Deathstroke (fat chance), or maybe return of Joker. But I say they leave Joker alone, and let him be TDK exclusive.
Maybe Nolan could slip some fantasy in there, and the big epic finale could be Killer Croc! Or Clayface!
