Watch COMMUNITY's Dean-Tastic Homage To CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

After their latest paintball episode featured Jim Rash's Dean Pelton paying a pretty solid homage to the famous elevator scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Without Community, there's a pretty decent chance the Russo Brothers may have never gotten the opportunity to direct the near-masterpiece that is Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which would have had serious ramifications on the the future of the MCU. However, fortunately for fans everywhere, none of that happened and the Russos are currently in the midst of shooting Captain America: Civil War and will helm Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 & 2 in late 2017.

Community's latest paintball episode, which went live on Yahoo! Screen yesterday, featured a fantastic homage to modern espionage films such as the Russo-directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and it looks like episode director Rob Schrab had his old friends on the mind as he recreated the famous elevator scene from The Winter Soldier, with
Dean Craig Pelton, played by Academy Award-winner Jim Rash, taking on the role of Captain America.

Check out the funny scene below:

In case you wanted to compare, relive the original scene below:

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier features:
Directors Anthony and Joe Russo

It's pretty obvious, "A Fistful of Paintballs" and "For A Few Paintballs More" helped land the Russo brothers the Winter Soldier gig.

It's a shame neither of the Russo brothers were available to direct this one, but Schrab did a damn fine job in their absence.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this the first time they used Daybreak this season?? If not the first time they've used it since Harmon's return??

LOL this was awesome! Community is one of my favorite shows, and the paintball episodes are definitely the best of the series. I haven't gotten to see the new season on Yahoo though. The stupid thing apparently isn't available for me. So... yeah.

There's SO MANY great easter eggs and jokes:

This is one of, if not, my favorite.

Beetlejuice and Daybreak are up there too.

This scene had me in stitches, but I feel like I'm falling out of love with the show. I haven't enjoyed this season, and that paintball episode didn't match up to any of the others. Maybe I'm missing Troy/Shirley/Pierce, maybe it's Yahoo, I just can't seem to get behind this season. Something's Chang'd.

@ImKennyPowers - I think it popped up once earlier this season. I can't remember where, but me and my housemates have made a game out of spotting that song. It's so addictive :)

Also, for anyone not watching this show, you need to! I've seen seasons 1-3 about 5 times. I've seen 4, 5 and am caught up on 6. This may be the greatest show of all time. And if you haven't seen any paintball episodes, YOU NEED TO

@brainiac13 I think they were the ones that really cemented who modern cap is in The Winter Soldier but the Cap we see in AOU is definitely an extension of that and absolutely no joke. Dude led a team consisting of the three most killable Avengers (himself, hawkeye, and widow) to go toe to toe with Ultron knowing full well it was probably a suicide mission and even managed to distract the big guy and hold him off for a few minutes.

GUYS!!

I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet, but they used Batman actor code names!!!

Abed is Bale
Jeff is Keaton
Annie is West
Elroy is Kilmer
Britta is Clooney
Dean Pelton is Voice of Diedrich Bader

Britta is the worst, Clooney was the worst Batman. It's too great. Thought y'all would enjoy that if you hadn't caught it yet.
