Marvel Studios Now Rumored To Be Developing YOUNG AVENGERS As A Movie

Despite previous reports indicating that Marvel Studios was planning a Young Avengers Disney+ series, a new rumor claims that the project is now being developed for the big screen.

Though nothing has been officially announced, The Marvels pretty much confirmed that Marvel Studios is planning some sort of Young Avengers project. Previous rumors have pointed to a Disney+ series, but we're now hearing that the Jr. roster of Earth's Mightiest Heroes will actually assemble on the big screen.

Right at the end of the recent Captain Marvel sequel, after helping Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau defeat Dar-Benn and prevent a catastrophic Multiversal event, Kamala Khan uses Nick Fury's S.W.O.R.D. tech iPad to track down Hawkeye's Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) and tells her she's putting a team together.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel is indeed developing Young Avengers, but as a movie. It sounds like a series was the original plan, but it's said that, going forward, Kevin Feige would rather "showcase significant events in theatrical settings."

We're not sure how well a Young Avengers movie would be received by general audiences when even established heroes (Marvel and DC) are struggling in the current box office climate, but Marvel/Disney will likely be hoping that things will have turned a corner by the time this project is ready to enter production.

Kamala mentions Cassie Lang, aka Stature, in The Marvels scene, but who else will be on the team? It's probably going to be a while before we find out for sure, but Ms. Marvel actress Iman Vellani was asked about her "Nick Fury moment" during a recent interview, and she revealed which characters she'd most like to recruit.

"People really love these Young Avengers, but I don’t even know if they actually read those comics—not that they’re bad. The chemistry between Kamala, Miles [Morales], and Sam [Alexander], it’s too good. I would love to see that trio in the MCU. Neither of those characters exist yet in live action, but I’m praying for it. Yeah. I love Sam Alexander. One of their first interactions that they had. Also when Sam tried to reveal his identity and Kamala was like, 'Get away from me.' I love it."

We're sure we will see Miles and Sam/Nova in the MCU at some point, but they probably won't be part of this first iteration of the Young Avengers.

Would you have any interest in a Young Avengers movie? If so, which characters - aside from Kamala, Kate and Cassie - would you most like to see on the team? Drop us a comment down below.

Have they learned nothing in the past 4 years ? NO ONE CARES ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS. How much more $$$ do they need to lose to realize this ?

@Th3Batman - I am of the opinion that any movie with a good enough script can make you care about a character that you didn´t like before. They just need to ACTUALLY develop each of its characters. Give them real character flaws that they can overcome, goals that they want to achieve and needs that they don't realize that they have until the midpoint / climax of the movie. It's not that hard!

@DiegoMD - The problem is that these characters are nothing more than sidekicks. They're basically C and D level characters. Even with a good script (which Marvel is struggling to produce nowadays), that won't change that fact that people would rather see the real Avengers. Why is Marvel so hellbent on pushing their A list characters into the background in favor of these nobodies ?

@Th3Batman - I disagree. I think a lot of people enjoyed Captain Marvel 1 and what the 1st film was setting up. Problem is The Marvels strayed away from that and became a product placement for D+ shows that were subpar to shit. Ms Marvel, WandaVision, and Secret Invasion were not good or interesting enough to bleed into film canon.

They should've followed up with "Capt Marvel 2" instead of "The Marvels". Marvel Studios are idiots to not push Captain Marvel to be as big if not bigger than Wonder Woman as her 1st global film debut made 1 billion USD.

@Th3Batman - 3 and 4 were bad, but Young Justice season 1 and 2 were about sidekicks teaming up and it worked! The Guardians were D level characters. I seem to miss your points there. I however agree with the fact that they're producing bad scripts, but all it takes for a character to become an A lister is a good movie!

Young Avengers is the dumbest thing Kevin Feige will ever do in his career.

@MadThanos - Eternals, Inhumans

@MadThanos - I doubt he's really involved. If anything he's just gonna force it upon the D+ tv showrunners and convert it into a limited series. No way are they going to make a Young Avengers "movie" especially with such low tv viewership numbers because they will never make the money back......unless the lead is Tom Holland's Spiderman.

@LiteraryJoe - Inhumans wasn't him and Eternals was bad execution, not bad idea. Young Avengers is a bad idea. No one cares about Cassie Lang, Iron Heart and America Chavez, the 3 of them are arguably the worst things on their respective movies. Kate Bishop is by far the best one but still nothing that special, and Mrs. Marvel is ok on small doses. Some people have brought names like Kid Loki or Patriot, both which had barely any screen time so far and no reason to join the group. It's just a waste of money and time.

Bad. Idea.

With the MCU at an all time low in the eyes of the GA, trying to get audiences to love more new characters and newish characters who haven’t resonated is a terrible idea. We are talking Marvels level of bomb. The GA is also not smart enough to know the comics or have any appreciation for this group. They will just see it as a weird departure from the Avengers they love.

I’d rather we see a young avengers proto team in Thunderbolts than getting their own movie.

I don't really see it happening this Saga anymore, but I think it could be a solid capper for Phase 7 if they develop the characters a little bit further. Same goes for Midnight Sons.

@bkmeijer1 - If they do it after Secret Wars then the Young Avengers should be Tony Stark/Iron Man, Steve Rogers/Captain America, Hank Pym/Ant-Man, Janet Van Dyne/Wasp, etc.
LiteraryJoe
LiteraryJoe - 12/20/2023, 3:01 PM
@ObserverIO - So young skinny Steve and a drunk Tony with no suits lol? Even young Pym didn’t have particles yet.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 12/20/2023, 3:12 PM
@LiteraryJoe - No younger versions of them as the heroes. New universe. New actors.

Avengers 1 again.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 12/20/2023, 4:51 PM
@ObserverIO - They still wouldn't be young Avengers, just new Avengers which with all new actors is no more likely to work and be well recieved than a new Avengers team with established actors in their respective roles.

That prior cast in those prior roles gaining love does not auto mean the GA would embrace and support anyone else in those roles as all their collective history is wiped clean, film doesn't work the same way as comics.

What is KEY is a well written story that looks good and well directed, which characters isn't as important to the GA as it oft if for us nerds.
LiteraryJoe
LiteraryJoe - 12/20/2023, 5:10 PM
@ObserverIO - I understood that, I mean those characters don’t work as younger versions it takes away their entire structure and character details.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 12/20/2023, 5:11 PM
@ObserverIO - I gotta agree with @Apophis71 on this one. The first two movies worked to well not because of Cap, Tony and Thor the characters, but their very distinct personalities and the tension that brought.

And that's a problem now. There is no tension between characters. A reboot wouldn't fix that. Unless it's a reboot of the writers team.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 12/21/2023, 4:25 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I don't disagree. But it's the easiest thing in the world to say 'They just need to be better'.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 12/21/2023, 9:07 AM
@ObserverIO - true, that's why I point out what exactly they need to do better. Distinctive characters clashing is just really something that is missing. Nothing feels like an obstacle anymore.
