While she was was attending Saturn Awards, where she received the Producer's Showcase Award, Lauren Shuler Donner talked about the progress on the Constantine sequel. Even though we didn't hear a lot of news regarding the sequel she said that she hopes it will happen soon.

Here is what she had to say:

"We tried it, we always got there, and then we had a few bumps in the road. Keanu was involved with us, everybody was. We just had a few bumps in the road."

"We’re gonna try again...we heard a good take."

The 2005 comic book adaptation was directed by Francis Lawrence and many fans were left disappointed while other liked it a lot. I am one of those who really enjoyed the movie and I liked the direction of the film. Also Keanu Reeves did a good job as John Constantine in my opinion, and it still remains to see will he return or not.

The first film was a mediocre box office success, earning around $230 million dollars worldwide. So, what are your thoughts about a sequel? Would you like to see Keanu Reeves reprising his role of John Constantine or would you like to see someone else in that role?

That's good news. I really liked the first one though being based so loosely. At least it established that with the movie versions name is Constantine with a 'teen' but not 'tine'.

I loved Constantine. It had one of the best movie one liners ever. "Going down?" "Not if I can help it." hilarious.

The first movie was a pretty good adaptation of the book where Constantine was dying of lung cancer. I think that any sequel should be an adaptation of the one (can't remember the names) where a demon takes over the inhabitants of London (although it could be changed to NY) and turns it into a corner of hell. Alternatively, the story where Constantine is sent to prison (a US one funnily enough) and creates illusions so that the inmates tear it apart. Or any of the other dozens (that I know of) of stories that kick ass.

I actually dug the first movie, even with the americanization of Constantine. If Keanu isn't available, I'd aim to get Clive Owens on board. Or if James Bond continues to be stuck in limbo with MGM's bankruptcy issues, they could see if Daniel Craig was interested. Either of those two could be great for the role.

Seriously, I LOVE Constantine, I can re-watch it and still get caught up into it. I watched the movie before I bought the first 5 issues of volume one.

AHHHHHHHHH...that explains everything now...I thought the first movie looked good but then sucked hard when I actually watched it. It gave me the same feeling as FF2:Rise of that Surfer Dude...looked cool before it came out and then sucked the life literally from the pages of the comics themselves. Here I find out that our good friend; "Lauren Shuler Donner" was behind both of them...

awwwwwsommmmee....

This chick must go out of her way to screw everything up. It is a good day in CBM world when someone finally fires this chick. Maybe Constantine 2 is just the trick to do it...

"DOWN WITH DONNER" (The movement starts here)

I liked the first one. Keanu did good, but I think enough time has passed that if they did want to go with someone else, they probably could get away with it. No ideas on who tho.

It was a little dissapointing but Keanu Reeves did great as always and I'll give the sequel(if it happens) another shot. Hopefully they bring back Keanu Reeves back because he is the reason why I kept watching it.

I loved the 1st one, except for the scene where he's yelling at the girl to think about what her sister saw in the hospital. Besides that it was great, and I want Reeves back in the role

Truly hope this is indeed true. Despite it being very different from the comic, this is by far my favourite CBM. Seen it a thousand times and I still enjoy it like it was the first.

The depiction of Hell in this film is the best I've ever seen.
