Captain America Casting (Not Yet Discussed)

"Southland" star as the Captain?

Benjamin McKenzie actually has the acting chops for this role, and would be interested in playing the role as well. Playing a cop on the hit show, Southland, on NBC, he is used to taking down bad guys and he is physically fit as well, packing on a few pounds will be easy. He is a likely candidate, or at least he should be. He's just perfect for the role.

Many of you keep talking about Jensen Ackles playing the role, I like Jensen, but this is not his role. It's obvious that he likes the horror genre. Captain America is nowhere near the horror Genre. And as for Sam Worthington, he just isn't the Cap.

I'm a fan of the Cap as much as the next guy, but haven't any of you thought that they might choose an unknown actor as Captain America? Like they did with Superman? Most of these actors don't have the whole package. Some of these actors have a nice chiseled chin like the Cap, but they dont have the acting chops. Some of these actors wouldnt even work on a movie like this cuz its not their kind of genre that theyre used to. Sn some are to old to play him too. Its kind of obvious that an unkown actor will play him, so we believe him to be Captain America, not some actor that we've seen in other movies. Same goes for Wonder Woman...

An overall, McKenzie wouldn't look silly wearing the suit, and even though not many people will recognize him from other shows, he'll be a likable character that people will believe.

Not someone I would have come up with, but not a bad choice. I'd take him over some other suggestions I think.

I thought this guy was already cast as Cap at one point because of what The Incredible Hulk's director said, and the fact that Benjamin McKenzie was at The Incredible Hulk premiere

Does anyone know how tall this guy is? He loooks kind of short. He would definitely need to put some muscle on if he were to get the part

I could see him pull it off.

@ Spideysweb, height is hardly ever an issue in movies, with camera angels and effects.

Just because you draw a cap mask on him doesn't make him the right choice. He's not that great of an actor. i mean for gods sake his show got canceled. he is not the right choice i have been voting for Lewis but Shit i would rather have Ackles than this little B*tch.

Incase you guys arent sure who he is, he's played in 88 minutes next to al pacino, also he was the main charcter in the OC. But in that he was the kid from the wrong side of the tracks and kicked peoples ass all the time. I think he would make a good cap.

No need to get pissed off. As i said before, Ackles is more into the horror genre, so he probably won't get the part...

@spideysweb
Height wont really be a problem. In all the X-Men movies they used camera angles to make Hugh Jackman, Wolverine, appear shorter. An hes like 6 foot somethin

Benjamin McKenzie is only 5'9" tall. Man, ppl's suggestions for Cap America are getting shorter and shorter! He's a very good actor but Cap is 6'2" tall!

CaptainAmerica - 8/26/2009, 12:49 AM
yea, my wife said hes too short :(

mounted88 - 8/26/2009, 2:53 PM
DDD@ good point but like someone else pointed out hugh jackman is like 6'3 but with the camera angles it made him look shorter for wolverine so im sure they can do the oppisite to make him look taller lol im just saying, i cant spell
MovieMisfit
MovieMisfit - 8/26/2009, 8:13 PM
He's a bit too short but I like him as an actor. Besides his height and the need to gain more weight and muscles...he fits the part. I wouldn't mind if he were chosen.

DDD - 8/28/2009, 2:57 AM
You're right @Tony, RDJ is only 5'9" and he's Iron-man. It's amazing what they can do with lifts but I don't think they should go too tall with Cap America 'cause you want all the Avengers to look smaller than the 6'3" Chris Hemsworth playing Thor.
