It Seems Aldis Hodge Wouldn't Mind Trading In HAWKMAN's Wings For A GREEN LANTERN Ring

While Aldis Hodge's time in the DCEU was cut short as Black Adam failed to deliver a box office hit for WB, Hodge is open to suiting up as another superhero in the DCU.

When one door closes, another one opens...potentially.

While Aldis Hodge delivered a solid performance as Carter Hall / Hawkman in 2022's Black Adam, there was no saving that film from being a box office flop due to its weak script and cliche action.

The film garnered a 38% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and earned a meager $393.5 million worldwide from a roughly estimated production budget of $200 million.

Still, Hodge isn't looking to distance himself from the role and should DC Studios co-chair James Gunn come knocking on his door, looking for him to continue portraying the Nth metal-wielding hero, he'll answer.

Speaking to Comic Book, Hodge stated, "I don't know if that's in the cards for me. I mean, look, if it is, obviously I love the character. I would love to continue the character. Definitely had plans to continue the character before some changes were made. But yeah, I couldn't tell you. You're going to have to ask James."

Hodge seemed a little more enthusiastic when it came to Green Lantern John Stewart, who is set to lead an upcoming Max television sci-fi drama alongside Hal Jordan in a project that's been described as 'True Detective in space.'

Hodge told the site, "I would love to live out the rest of the legacy of Hawkman because we had some amazing plans for him. But also, with John Stewart in sort of a live action capacity. I mean, I've voiced John Stewart in the animated space for years now...Few years... Phil LaMarr passed the baton. Shout out to Phil because I'm a big fan of his work. But if that became a film adaptation, absolutely. I mean, that was one of my dreams growing up was to be John Stewart in live-action. So yeah."

For those unaware, Hodge voices John Stewart in the direct-to-video animated films Green Lantern: Beware My Power and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One.

However, it seems voicing the characters in the animated DC film space doesn't provide any edge when it comes to Gunn's casting decisions as the role of Supergirl came down to Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly. Alcock was selected for the part, even though Donnelly previously voiced Supergirl in Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One and Part Two.

Hodge will also have to contend with Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Sterling K. Brown, who also recently let it be known that he wants to portray John Stewart in the DCU.

As we await word from the Hollywood trades and Gunn on casting for Lanterns, we'll have to see if Hodge or Brown end up on the shortlist.

Let us know in the comment section below if you think Hodge would make a great Lantern or if you think he should be played by someone a little more mature, like Brown.

Not sure hes perfect for Stewart but Ive always liked him in everything, and he deserves better than the one and done hawkman role he got (although his and brosnans history was the best written part of the movie)

I would be down for that…

He did well voicing the character in Beware My Power which was decent imo (haven’t seen COIE PT 1).

However , I feel they might go for a younger John & older Hal dynamic in Lanterns going by the concept art we got…

Anyway we’ll see , that show has me intrigued.

@TheVisionary25 - You cant relay just on movie concepts, those are not the end game, cause if that would be true,we wouldn've had: Cris Pratt in Sonic, and Jason Momoa in Guardians of the Galaxy. If you think about it.🤔

Now that would be a damn good choice, think he'd be good for Bronze Tiger as well if Gunn cast the role.

I was thinking Black Manta, and even though he doesn't have the wisened vibe I like for John Stewart, that doesn't mean he'd be a bad choice.

Him or Trevante Rhodes would be my top choices.

Him and Brosnan as Fate were two of the bright shining spots in Black Adam. Too bad the rest of the nonsense (Mostly Dwayne playing “The Rock”…Again) dragged the whole thing down.

@vegetaray - I got some enjoyment out of it honestly , even Dwayne as BA

It was just overstuffed imo which was it’s biggest problem.

Would give it a C+

Is it really too hard to put a picture of the actor the articles is about?

I could see it work. Gunn wants the same people across different media, so Hodge making the jump from animation to live-action would make sense imo

Boom I just said this in that other article about him!

He should go from Hawkman to Nighthawk at Marvel, in an adaptation of JMS' Supreme Power graphic novel.
