In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Here's an interview I found with Nick Jones, who's long been rumored to star in Green Lantern as John Stewart, where he talks a bit about his involvement with Green Lantern. He also touches on Ryan Reynolds, the CGI costume, and possible GL sequels.

Shawn S. Lealos: We're you a Green Lantern fan in specific?

Nick Jones: Not a Green Lantern fan in specific. I wasn't really introduced to Green Lantern until the JLU cartoon came out on Cartoon Network so I was a Justice League fan and knew about John Stewart. I didn't know too much about Hal Jordan until the movie went into pre-production. That's when I started reading about the mythology of that. I kind of grew up on the Marvel side.

Shawn S. Lealos: Does John Stewart become a Lantern in the movie.

Nick Jones: No.

Shawn S. Lealos: Is it kind of like Iron Man, where you say ‘here is Rhodey and he is going to become War Machine down the line.' Have you signed on for the sequels?

Nick Jones: We are all open for sequels but no one has signed on yet. I think they are waiting to see how big the first one does. As far as me being like Rhodey in Iron Man, I can only say if you have read Secret Origins, you kind of know where we are going.

Green Lantern hits theaters June 17th.

@ironknight - Yes. Asgard was awesome. Earth was a bore. I was totally disappointed with Thor, yet still had a decent movie experience.

I personally think John is a better lantern. Stewart is VETERAN U.S.Marine and done things Hal never has. We all know Marines are no pushovers. It takes a lot of fearlessness and will power to be a soldier and for him to use that as a Green Lantern makes him just too badass. Because he is also an architect, his lantern constructs are stronger than Hals and more solid. Best flyer in the Corps btw.
(From Wikipedia) In Green Lantern (vol. 4) #26, it was shown that John's willpower exceeds the limit of his ring (when he tried to recreate a planet from scratch), a feat that had not been depicted before this point.
John is a discharged member of the USMC with full combat training. In addition, he is an expert sniper.
When he temporarily used Indigo-1's ring as a member of the Indigo Tribe, John was capable of accessing the powers of all Lantern Corps rings in his vicinity, even managing to harness the power of the Black Lantern Corps by drawing on the residual Black Lantern energy around Mogo's core. Plus, Hal hides behind a mask. Stewart doesn't and says BRING IT ON!!!!!

In the 2011 live action Green Lantern film, John Stewart, played by Nick Jones, might have a cameo in a bar fight with Hal Jordan, played by Ryan Reynolds, about Marine versus Air Force.[33] ( Wikipedia)

Can he act? Its a simple question, if yes cool, I'd be willing to see him be given a bigger chance at the role, but I'm hearing the guy has never acted b4 so quite frankly I'd prefer his 'cameo' 2 b cut

Didn't know you had to "act" for a cameo, especially a bar fight.
HaroldOfGalactus

He doesn't have to act, per say...

He basically just told us that he is going to be a marine that gets into a bar fight with Hal, or something very similar to it.

@NextHero08 Well Hal has done some pretty amazing things that John never has or could do. Hal Jordan is also a soldier. Hell, testpilots are pretty fearless. And just being a pilot in the airforce is pretty damn tough and badass.
I don't think Johns constructs are necessary stronger than Hal's, they are more detailed while Hal's are all about precision, according to Rebirth. He even tapped into the Guardians willpower and recreated Coast City and went through every Green Lantern to Oa in what is the most outlandish and dumb Green Lantern comicbook happning ever. Damn I hated that Hal, completely against his personality.
Anyway, John and Hal are pretty different characters. It's all about taste but only one is the true and original Green Lantern for me and that's Hal Jordan. And he is the greatest Green Lantern, next to Sinestro probably. I hope Stewart will be featured in the movies but don't introduce them all. Too big characters and too little time per movie.
(Yeah I'm biased. Airforce represent! Lol)

Nick Jones is a young actor trying to make it. He could be a bad actor or he could be a good actor. He looks the part and is a marine, so he has that going for him. Let's not forget Christopher Reeve had only one film under his credit before Superman.

Jones playing a lead role as an FBI agent in the new movie Weather Wars and here is a decent interview where he talks about Battle: Los Angeles, GL and Weather Wars.

you folks saying Hal is the embodiment and his constructs re better are mistaken.

John Stewrt was an architect before and after the marines. His constructs aree way more intricate and comlex than any other GL
