Bill Murray All For Female GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot: "I Would Watch It!"

Ghostbusters star Bill Murray has never been enthusiastic to return to the beloved franchise, but he seems to be supportive of recent reports that Paul Feig will helm an all-female incarnation of the team.

Comedic great Bill Murray has been skeptical to make another film in the Ghostbusters series, with his lack of enthusasim being one of the reasons a third movie has been stuck in development hell for years. Well, while the 63-year-old seems unlikely to repise his role of Dr. Peter Venkman, he has now voiced his support of a reported all-female Ghostbusters team. "It sounds great to me," he told Scott Mantz of Access Hollywood. "It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor! No, it’s a grand idea, I don't know who they're talking about, but it's a good idea, I would watch it! I mean, I love Robert Palmer's videos, so why wouldn't I love the female Ghostbusters?" Are you in favour of a female-centric line-up for a third Ghostbusters? Sound off below.

I dunno, ghostbusters had their time to shine anyways, so I'd say just move on, not everything has to be rebooted

I wouldn't be excited for a Ghostbusters movie without the original cast and with Ramis' passing, I feel the studio should just let it go now.

I don't hate Bill Murray he's a really cool guy and i loved him in Zombieland. Although it was disappointing for Murray to decline to appear in a third Ghostbusters film.

I'm fine with an all female Ghostbusters film as long as it will be good.

I think screen writers don't know how to approach Ghostbusters. They certainly didn't with Ghostbusters 2. It wasn't so much a sequel to Ghostbusters, but more a live action version of Real Ghostbusters.

1st you create a serious plotline with some real tension. Then you add some comedy, just like you would to an action film. Comedy matters more during tense moments than it does during silly moments. You don't try to create a funny plotline then add more comedy.

The female Ghostbusters idea would make money but it would'nt be in the same vein as Ghostbusters. It would be an all out farce like 21 Jump Street, Hangover and any Seth Rogan or Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell farce-films.

And if you notice, those movies make money but lose appeal very quickly. They don't quite become classics that will be loved for decades.

They are what I call disposable movies.

I agree with @MenDeth.

The best recent comedies have been essentially situational dramas with absurd comedy thrown in. the seth rogen, dave franco stuff is a bunch of friends goofing off.

alternately, the stuff that group and others have done has included real pathos, broken up by comedy.

That being said, the real reason ghostbusters was so good is because it had bill murray. Simple as that. the films are okay otherwise. they have some great characters, a fun interesting plotline with osme sci fi and action involved, but really, when it comes down to it, its all murray. And the fact that they gave him the spotlight and made the others have occasional scenes is what gave the movie a cohesive tone.

We don't really have a comedic genius of his calibur and style right now. We've seen brief moments. I would possibly cast louis CK as a ghostbuster for instance and let him set the tone. once thats in place, get people like chris pratt and kristen wiig who both can set their own tone, and are distinct characters from the lead.

This is confusing. I read that this all-female Ghostbusters movie will be a reboot of the original franchise. It will actually have no connection to GB3.

I think it would be more practical to make this movie into a spin-off of GB3 instead of doing it as a straight-up reboot.

For an all female Ghostbusters Cast Rebel Wilson,Sandra Bullock, Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Lawrence and maybe Christina Applegate or Kristen Wiig or Maya Rudolph because we need some SNL people in there because the first one was about some SNL people doing their thing in a movie
