Like it or not, a new Ghostbusters movie is on the way, and we have four character posters to prove it. An unofficial plot synopsis for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters claims that Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig then reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world. Ghostbusters is set to be released on July 22nd, 2016. As well as those listed above, the cast also includes Chris Hemsworth (as the team’s secretary), Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, and Neil Casey as the lead villain.

These look great!

Oh and instead of coming on here and complaining about how it's going to ruin your childhood (clearly it won't and if it does you really need to reevaluate your life) remember this...

Its just a movie. Don't like that they're making...don't watch it. But I digress.

Critics will give it at least decent reviews no matter what, because it advances a narrative. Whether it is actually good or not will have to be seen. is it 'necessary'? No. But movies rarely are...

Why is everyone so damn negative all the time? It is just posters, relax. Also, I liked Ghostbusters 2. I thought it was great!

Well, I for one am glad that they didnt blatantly try to sell this movie on any type of sex appeal. Kudos! Given the cast that was an obvious trap in which to fall. /s

Could be great. Melissa McCarthy is what'll make or break this. Hope they don't reduce her character to a series of banal fat jokes. Spy has made me optimistic.

@monkeyballs

Have you played the game? It's really good. All the actors return to voice the game and it's canon with the original movie. If you haven't played it, I strongly recommend it. One of the good licensed games.

As for this movie, all I gotta say is...

@MOSucksAss Did you see the original in the theater or on video/dvd/tv years later? The Video game with all the guys was pretty good and effectively GB 3. I liked the story better than GB 2.

@RetroFit The original had a magic that the sequel didnt capture despite having the same actors, writers and director. Someone expressing doubts about this isn't hating.

The original was written by the lead actors. This isn't. It was their original concept. This isn't.

I would be perfectly fine with a new cast/female cast had they at least connected it to or kept it in the same universe as the previous 2 films. Rebooting it is so unnecessary, especially given that all the original actors are cameoing in this…but as different characters.

This movie just screams laziness.

I don't know about this movie, at all.

This movie makes me understand all the pain and anger Fantastic Four fans had with Fant4stic.

I still don't understand why this should have been a reboot.

Make one of the females Egon's daughter, you give Ramis respect for that and you can carry on the franchise while having the old films as canon.

This film will be a shit movie.

Would look way cooler with a giant red Ghostbusters logo smack dab in the center.

I like the posters and I think Feig will do a good job.

Yea it was pretty funny. You basically play as a new recruit for the GB that takes place after 2.

@MOSucksAss

Ok. So bc it failed in Tron legacy; Mad Max, Rocky, and Star Wars should have been rebooted and not kept the franchises going?

As a true lover of the Ghostbusters films, cast, story and mythos. I can agree that I now understand the frustration Fantastic Four fans have with the new film.

I truly feel as though Paul Feig gave a big "[frick] you" to everything that made the original what it was, as well as the fans that supported it.

I hope this film crashes and burns and is left behind, as it should be because it could not have been more poorly handled.
