"Ghostbusters: Day" turned out to be a bit of a let-down, with no new trailer for the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife or a first look at the returning cast of the classic films. Some new stills were released during IGN's coverage, however.

Along with a new shot of the iconic Ecto-1, we get a first look at Celeste O'Connor's character Lucky, and Logan Kim as Podcast. Plus, the new spooky location (a haunted mansion, appropriately) was unveiled as the action moves away from New York City and into a more rural setting.

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts have all been confirmed to reprise their roles from the original movies, and they'll be joined by Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Carrie Coon (Fargo), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel).

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is currently set to blast into theaters on November 11, 2021.

Let's hope this is good, while I defended the reboot before it came out (didn't mind the gender-bending as much as others did) but the movie ended up genuinely bad.

I'm still surprised how hard Sony fought against reviving the franchises and insisted on a reboot in another universe.

I just have no interest in this. I'm really not into the idea of kids taking over the roles.

@CorndogBurglar - it's the Stranger Things principle, how to get nostalgic 30+ people AND children into seats? Cast children as the leads.

@JermareCBM - Was it though? There aren't adult actors they could have had take over the new Ghostbusters mantle that would be around long enough to make a trilogy? I think we both know that isn't true at all, considering all the film trilogies out there with adult actors.

@CorndogBurglar - it's a good thing that the creators of Back to the Future said no to a reboot and remake to their trilogy, they don't want to fall in that category.

@CorndogBurglar - Yes, because the film revolves around Spengler's descendants uncovering his life, which is the best way to honor Harold Ramis, and it makes more sense for it to be his grandchildren than his children. The innocence of youth adds to the mystery and wonder and makes the previous films feel more important to this film.

I believe this will eliminate the stench of the Kristen Wigg, Melissa McCarthy 2016 movie, and I happen to like those two actors. But their version of Ghostbusters was just bad. This at least looks to be more in line with the original and not just a bad reboot.

Everybody's looking at Stranger Things and Ghostbusters influence. But this is going to be Jumanji with ghosts and demons.
