Yes, this movie really is still happening folks...whether you like it or not. After plans for another Ghostbusters sequel featuring the original team (Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, the late Harold Ramis) were scrapped and original director Ivan Reitman walked, Bridesmaids' Paul Feig came aboard and plans were altered to make it a full reboot, which would feature an all-female team. Feig was also working on the script, and now THR report that he's enlisted the help of his The Heat scribe Katie Dippold to give him a hand. No casting news or even rumors have popped up online yet, but that's only a matter of time. Dippold is currently working on a sequel to The Heat and has previously worked on NBC’s Parks and Recreation and MadTV.

I kid, I'm all for a female ghostbusters as long as it's not, well, sexualized for frustrated teens

Im fine with a female team as long as its a sequel/exists in the same universe as the first 2 films.

I'm not entirely on board with this idea, I was really gunning for the originally planed one....but if this reboot ends up being really good, I'll back it one-hundred percent. So c'mon Feig, impress me, I'm waiting. Let's see what ya got

Maaaaan that sucks. My gripe with this is that it screams of a movie that's mostly relatable to women like bridesmaids. It makes much more sense to go with a gender balanced team. Also, the original already has a formula that works why try to fix greatness. It seems feig is just trying to reuse a formula that worked for him in the past, but one size doesn't fit all

"Bridesmaids" was funny. Maybe this will work.

'Hilarious women?'

Its going to have either Melissa McCarthy or Rebel Wilson in it and its going to suck monkey balls

Calling it now, they are going to cast Melissa McCarthy as the lead, and she's going to play the exact same character she played in Bridesmaids, and the Heat, and Identity Thief, and Tammy, and Mike & Molly, and the Heat 2, and....

I would say its a 100% lock Melissa McCarthy will be taking over the Bill Murray role.

Also, I'm tired of people calling Melissa McCarthy "hilarious".

Women shitting in sinks is not funny.
Women acting like drunk truckers is not funny.
Women acting like men is not funny.

Am I the only one who notices this?

I've only ever enjoyed Bridesmaids with my girlfriend. I always skip past it when alone.

As long as there's the original cast in it in some capacity, like perhaps recruiting these new girls for the team, I'll be interested.

An all girl team sounds worse then doing the movie with out Bill Murray. This sounds like charlies angels with proton packs! I hope someone petitions the hell out of this movie or at least give the people at sony time to let the cocain ware off so they can realize how terrible this could be!

@spidey1994 I completely agree with you on that. With him gone no Ghostbusters movie will capture the essence of the original

I wanted a sequel with the old team handing the reigns to a new team, NOT a REBOOT and an all woman team? Meh
