Latest TV Spots For The GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Feature New Footage Of Slimer &... Mrs. Slimer?

Back when the Ghostbusters reboot was still in pre-production, a rumor did the rounds that this movie's version of Slimer was going to be female. When we got our first glimpse of the fan-favorite green ghost it seemed clear that this was the same character from the original films, but it looks like there was some truth to the report after all.

In the first of the 2 new TV spots below, "The Slimers", the hungry little fella can be seen having a great ol' time behind the wheel of a car with a lady friend.

Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and Abby Yates (McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Gilbert reunites with Yates and others when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15.

@JFogg - do you say the same about minorities? We get it, losers who sit at a computer all day can be funny too.

@JFogg - Actually I used to think woman could be as funny as men, but after seeing the trailers and clip Fieg has convinced me otherwise.

@ChewyLewis - my point is this entire movie appears to be an exact remake with the original characters now are all women, which I'm fine with. It's whatever. But adding a female slimer just adds is a bit much. We get the whole thing is a vehicle for women to be in a guy franchise like ghostbusters.

Let's see how many people here are going to pay to see this. I'll be sure to watch this once it's on free-to-air tv.

@GrilledPopcorn - If you don't see this multiple times in the theaters then you hate women. /s

@antirock - why? Did anyone say that to you. Or, do you just pass your bigotry off as jokes? Why can't feig make a movie about females again? Does it bother you that there is a whole 54% of the population that might want to see this just because there is women in it. Grow up, a real man shows respect.

@antirock - I better watch it then. I also better watch all the movies ever made or else I'm a racist, homophobe, children-hater, animal-hater, European-hater, Asian-hater, African-hater etc.

@ChewyLewis - you are a tool. It's one thing to make a good female driven movie and it is a complete other thing to bastardize and twist a beloved franchise into a pandering cash grab.

@JonAwesome - comicbook movies in itself are a cash grab. They are capitalizing on a beloved franchise. Opinion on whether or not it is bastardizing or twisting is irrelevant. A director with a couple of successful movies in a row wanted to make this.

Telling me it is bad because of the trailers is fine and all but adding on all the stupid shit about women is just plain ignorance.

@ChewyLewis - @antirock had a valid sardonic response to a very real issue regarding the backlash of not liking a movie because it is in fact most likely garbage and being labeled a he-man woman hater just because the studio used a cheap ploy of casting women in the new roles. You prove my point with your very biased comments.

Yes I hate the fact that they cast all women for the ghostbusters because in the end I think it cheapens women's roles in movies as a whole and is just a gimmick. But that isn't the reason I don't want to see this movie. This movie looks to have stripped all the spirit out of the original franchise and is poised to spew out nothing less than the crap filled sentiment of a Saturday morning cartoon.
