Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Begins Filming; Possible Story Details Revealed
Right off the back of Spy, Paul Feig has taken to Twitter to announce the start of filming on his Ghostbusters reboot. Meanwhile, a new report has emerged featuring some new details about the film's story.
Sony's decision to reboot Ghostbusters with an all-female cast has received a very mixed response, but there's no denying that the movie's director Paul Feig is an interesting choice. Feig's most recent film, Spy, is currently earning rave reviews from critics, in addition to performing pretty nicely at the box office. It seems the in-demand director will have no time to celebrate this success though, as he's just taken to social media to announce the start of filming for his widely discussed next project:
The Ghostbusters reboot reunites Feig with his comedy muse Melissa McCarthy for the fourth time in as many movies. Joining McCarthy in the lead roles will be SNL alums Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, with Thor: The Dark World's Chris Hemsworth also on board as the team's secretary. While reporting on the shoot in Boston, The Boston Herald have seemingly revealed a few unconfirmed details about the film's plot, outlined in a brief synopsis below:
[Kristen] Wiig and [Melissa] McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. (Like the original, the story takes place in New York City, even though it’s being shot in Boston.) Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
