Stephen Chow is a actor, comedian, screen writer, director and film producer, hailing from Hong Kong (beautiful place, people should definitely visit the country). If you don't Know who he is, then you might have heard of his film such as Shaolin Soccer and his best movie to date Kung Fu Hustle, a movie which was nominated for Golden Globe awards and BAFTA. If you have never seen any of these movies then shame on you (go check it out now, especially Kung Fu Hustle). Both the movies are a blend of comedy and kung fu, now I know that mix isn't new but both these movies bring some thing fresh to the table. Chow knows how to pull of the comedy(sometimes over the top) and action together to make a great fun movie.
What I like about his movies (especially Kung Fu Hustle), is that he took a bunch of flawed characters who come off as very distasteful at the beginning but by the end of the movie you really root for the character especially the protagonist (played by Chow) he starts the movie off by making some very amoral choices(sound familiar). By the end, the character learns a great deal about himself. the action is again over the top, but the movie is meant to be like that, its not afraid to poke fun at overly exaggerated kung fu fight scenes(Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Chow was also set to direct and Star as Kato in Green Hornet, until the old "creative difference" made him drop out as director but he was on board to star as Kato, but "schedule conflict" came in the way and he eventually left the project. Makes me wonder what the movie would have been under his direction.(not saying it will be bad, sort of looking forward to it but anyways).
I have seen a lot of names thrown around for IM3, so i thought i would throw in a very left field choice. I would also like to highlight that there are a lot of great directors in the far east who hollywood should give a chance. I believe Stephen Chow would be good choice for Iron Man 3(by the way he's done a lot more movies, but the two I have stated are the most recognisable)
