My favorite to least favorite superhero movies of 2013

So, Man of Steel that had no story and had very bad CGI was best movie? Meh, how video game movie is better than movies with better stories and no cgi?

Nice list! I almost totally agree. The only think i'd change is i'd switch Thor:tdw and Iron Man 3. Great call putting flashpoint paradox first. As crazy as it sounds, yes, the best superhero film this year was animated.

Whether its MoS or Thor 2, if your favorite character just being on screen is enough make a movie epicly awesome, then good for you for getting your jollies so easily. All of these movies have their strong and weak points that will affect people differently. No need no jump on everyone that doesn't feel the same as you about a movie.

My honest opinion, Thor: TDW is the worst cbm of the year. I'm sorry, worst isn't the right word, because there are very few stratight up "bad" parts. Its the most disappointing movie this year because it didn't even try to be great. Marvel is a lot more daring with the Iron Man franchise because its a guaranteed success. But its like they are so affraid that thor will fail that they don't take risks with the character and his first 2 movies have come off as bland and apologetic. That said, MoS and IM3 had more "bad" parts than Thor 2, but since they at least tried to be great, the have more memorable parts too. The saddest part is that Thor has the potential to be the greatest CBMs ever. They definitely have the best cast of the Marvel solo films, IMHO. This movie could have been LOTR epic...

Well, I honestly didn't read the comics - Geoff Johns kind of killed that for me. I usually watch the movies, then if I like it enough, I'll buy the trade(s) they're based off of.
Flashpoint didn't make a whole lot of sense to me - not the actual plot, but the direction. Why would Wonder Woman kill Mera? Why is Arthur into sleeping around with Diana? There's some seriously DRASTIC changes that aren't in any way explained here. I've been told there's some explanation (though not a whole lot) in the actual book, but that's irrelevant here. I find it difficult to wrap my head around the alternate universe's Aquaman and Wonder Woman. It seems like a lot of it is just there to show violence and brutality.

Man of Steel was cool. I'm not worried about Superman killing Zod, though sure, I do agree with some sentiment that he could have maybe done that BEFORE leveling half of Metropolis. I found myself appreciating most of the battles though... well, all of them really. Everything with Faora was gold. I was a little distracted with Krypton because I'm an idiot and wanted the AI to be Brainiac. That's me. But yeah, Metropolis - I honestly felt grateful to be seeing a live-action Justice League (tv) style beat-down. I figured with any other director, probably wouldn't happen. I agree that Lois was underdeveloped, and Superman needs to be more charismatic and not just good-looking.

Thor: The Dark World was alright. I'm a little let down by the climax - though I get it. No one wants to admit it, but the costumes and make-up got in the way. How much can Christopher Eccleston actually MOVE in that gear? I like the humor - in fact one of my favorite parts is where Darcy has Ian bent over in a kiss during the PORTAL KOMBAT.

I liked the game of wits with Loki. I thought Frigga's death was emotional. I just wish we had more focus on each character. There were a lot of character to balance in 2 hours, and I don't think the movie really managed it successfully, though Alan Taylor's cut would have been longer - we may never know.

The Wolverine was cool. I wish it had subtitles though. I can't wait for the Blu-Ray. It was difficult to make out what everyone is saying in English. I loved how Clint Eastwood Wolverine has become, and I really liked him being vulnerable. Could have done without some of the super stereotypical Japanese tropes, but there's less in the movie than in the comics, so I guess we should be grateful. The Shingen fight was FREAKING AMAZING, probably one of the best CBM fights ever made. I really didn't like the ending battle with the Silver Samurai and how somehow he can drain the healing factor and incorporate it into his system instantaneously. Ah well.

Iron Man 3 was fun. I didn't have the biggest expectations, and I don't like the Mandarin in the comics, so I don't care about the big twist half-way through. Actually, I thought Trevor was funny, and I quote his "panicked" line all the time at work. Could have done with less of the panic attacks, though. Would have liked to have gotten a bit more invested in Killian. Thought Brandt was especially menacing, but Savin was kind of a bore. It was nice to see the Silver Centurian armor in the final battle.

Decent.

@FreedomFreeLife I don't know how dumb you have to be to not realize that MOS was number 2 on the list. Second, this is a list based on opinions, so why criticize? People stay with their opinions unless someone intelligent could change their opinion. Just leave people alone.

That's the whole point of Flashpoint it's not suppose to be joyful and happy go lucky, it's a nightmare reality thus the movie reflectedd that tone. Also the reason Aquaman and Wonderwoman go to war is because they feel in love and both ended up betraying each other, Mera finds out about the affair Arthur and Diana had and things spin out of control from there. Everything that can go wrong goes wrong. Yes it's violent but there is a method to the madness, plus it's good to see american animation like Flashpoint, The Dark Knight Returns and Under The Red Hood step outside of the sandbox and give us something less disney more mature in nature.


As for Thor I honestly I hated the two interns, that Darcy chick was extremely annoying her voice and just everytime she was on screen I wanted her to disappear for good. She served no other purpose than slapstick comic relief ,she took up too much screentime that could have otherwise been used to develop the villain so he didn't feel like a plot device and more like a character.

Ironman 3- Again it did nothing for me. I see no reason not to do a great dramatic Ironman story, instead they gave us more of what I hated in Ironman 2. It's a filmakers job to make people understand characters, The Mandarin could have been done great on film instead they gave us an overload of bad humor a weak villain and a piss poor conclusion and main character that is unchanged. I did not find it fun nor enjoyable. If they wanted to make a action/comedy then they should have advertised it that way.

The action is also lack luster, the blowing up of the house is the only time I felt like it was intense and had me on the edge of my seat. Then again almost right after that the movie goes back into slapstick humor mode, I don't feel the need to care anymore.
