Fox To Reboot Alien

Fox To Reboot Alien

Why is Fox rebooting one of the most successful franchises in movie history? Because of money, and the need to return to the "single alien on a ship" plotline...

Fox feels that the idea of having a bunch of Aliens on screen does not work. So Fox is going back to the one "Alien on a ship" idea we all saw in the first installment Alien. This one Alien picked off the stubborn somewhat snobby crew until only Ripley was alive and available to kick that Alien's acid dripping jabroni jiving simple arse.

What? What did you say? It doesn't matter what you said! When heavy hitters like Michael Costigan, Ridley Scott and even Tony Scott are on board to produce and have asked Carl Rinsch to get above the camera and bring a new Ripley to the silver screen, it would seem that the powers that be have their minds made up on what direction this updated version of Alien will go. Its almost hard to call this a reboot, simply because we saw this idea in Alien. That's what the trades are calling it but I am way more comfortable with calling this a remake.

Wondering who Carl Rinsch is? Me too, I found out that he is commercial/music video director and does work for Scott Free Productions, who is also producing the remake.

Not sure how commercial and music videos relate to one of the most horrifying space story's of all time but hey, its all about who ya know in this business.

I guess the next question is "Who will make a good Ripley?"

THIS IS PATHETIC WHY IS EVERY MOVIE GOING TO BE A REBOOT - USELESS SEQUEL, BOARD GAME, OR JUST PLAN PIECE OF CRAP. ITS HONESTLY SICKENING TO ME. THE ALIEN MOVIES WERE SO GOOD MAKING THEM AGAIN WILL JUST BE ONE STEP DOWN LEAVE THEM THE HELL ALONE.

Mila Jovavich would be the closest replacement for Weaver if you ask me, but that is only if they want to stick with the same kind of Ripley

Jesus God no... You've got to be kidding me? I'm really tired of these unnecessary reboots/remakes/we're-to-lazy-to-actually-come-up-with-an-idea-so-we-capitalize-on-previous-successes-in-hopes-it-will-generate-the-same-box-office-smash-hit-and-give-us-more-money.

This regurgitation will most likely do well, God knows I'll still see it...sigh...We'll never win will we? Where's our NEW generation movies that impact our culture and inspire? Oh yeah, our new generation movies is old generation movies renewed with no soul.

You know, I might just start boycotting all remakes and just say f^&k it, and watch a bootleg.

Why dont they try remaking really bad movies first to see if they can get those right before they take great classics and ruin them?

Honeslty, what the [frick] does it change if they reboot something??? REALLY!!!!! Rebooting the movie doesn't mean they erase the originals from the face of this earth for [frick]'s sakes!!! Your old safety blanket will always be tucked in nicely in your dvd collection , no one's gonna take that away from you so why bitch??? Is Sigorney up for another all out attack on the species??? NO, she's too old!!! So either way, wether they continue or reboot, what does it change??? NOTHING!!!

There is no realy good replacement for Sigourney Weaver. I'm am so sick & tired of all this reboot/remake crap. I Am Legend - remade 4 times, Karate kid - why reboot it, Daredevil - don't need to see it again, etc. etc. etc.

Less reboots, more original material. it's not that much to ask.

THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 5/28/2009, 10:29 AM
Why? This is my favorite movie series, it doesn't nee a reboot. This is just an excuse for them to make a movie the easy way, just recycle the original idea.

Hey FUX Studios, here's a crazy idea. WHy not instead of rebooting make a sequel. How about a trip to the Alien homeworld. Or it's a large galaxy, how about someone besides Ripley finding them, I mean what is she the embodyment of Murphey's Law? Everywhere she goes a xeonomorph follows?

they reboot so they dont have to use their imagination and come up with new movies and stories.

ridiculous...

Shaman - 5/28/2009, 10:36 AM
You know, what's the difference between a sequel without ripley, a fresh new face, about one alien in a space ship...

and...

a reboot with ripley, but a fresh new face for the role, about one alien in a space ship...

Honestly??? Can someone explain where the sacrilege is??? No matter how they reboot it, it's gonna look like a "out of place" sequel. How can you be okay with the first idea but not the second, cause i hardly see the difference.

To me, Batman Begins is a reboot. It didn't destroy the Batman movie made in 1989 which i thoroughly enjoy even more than the reboot, but i ALSO like BB and TDK. I really don't see a problem here... at all!!!

Hell, they even rebooted The Hulk, and to this day it still looks more like a sequel than a reboot!

I loved when i saw the First alien! the Robot character became one of my all time heroes!!! I don't wanna see how Fox tries to fill his shoes. Ah crap this is gonna suck, and its gonna be PG and it will probably have a Saturday Morning cartoon spin off ;(
Stumblin
Stumblin - 5/28/2009, 11:38 AM
Shaman, my issue is, their is no more creativity left in these movies. It's just regurgitation of the same damn thing. I want to see something new, inspiring, something that isn't from the damn 80's. Look I'm an 80's baby, but damn.

Granted, you're right, this movie being made, wont overcast the originals, however, it's still just "Hey, you remember man that movie ruled, want to remake it because we have no ideas for anything new? Sweet."

To me it's bull shit. Now I'm for re imagining something like Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, because he's not trying to make it look similar to the original, he's making it his own. However, this movie will more than likely just try to follow the same formula, and over the top CGI to the point where it looks comical. Maybe I'm thinking too much about Alien vs Predator.

If they want to do a sequel, fine by me. I'm just sick of the same thing, Star Trek is different, they took it to a completely different level then the original movies while still praising homage to them. This I can't see doing that, I don't know, I could be wrong.

JUST GIVE ME SOMETHING NEW DAMN IT!
Shaman
Shaman - 5/28/2009, 11:38 AM
mounted88- AWARD WINNING!!! AWAAAAAAAARD WINNNNIIIIINNG!!! That's what that ass is!!!

Quagmire14- "at least give it to a director who has a VISION, not a mere technician who is nothing more than a competent hack."

Now that's a good argument, and FOX would do good to build on that!

shibazz- "it will probably have a Saturday Morning cartoon spin off ;("

Sadly, i'm sure that will happen.

Stumblin- YES, that is true, IF it was made "exactly" like the original, it would suck. BUT, Batman Begins was different, The Incredible Hulk was different, Star Trek was different, Punisher was different sooooooooo why wouldn't this one be???

Here is some of the short that director Carl Erik Rinsch has done. This is some cool stuff, but to go from little short to [frick]ing Aliens, I think thats a huge jump.

A REBOOT OF THE BEST HORROR MOVIE IS JUST PLAIN RETARDED! SET IT IN THE FUTURE, AFTER RIPLEY'S TIME, (AND GOD NO CLONES!) WITH SOME OTHER CHARACTERS, AND SOME KIND OF ORIGINAL PLOT AND STORYLINE.

WTF? ok Im 20 yrs old and the first time i watched Alien I was 7 That movie is still a classic to me and still feels new Yea im 20 yrs of age so that would seem new but. It still seems like new right? Mostly because its an original idea like star wars. Anyone get me on this? If someone remaid starwars everyone would flip a shit EVERYONE even trekie fans. And when i say remake I mean 4,5 and 6. O and five buck says Megan Fox is gonna be Ridley (let the rumors FLY). Id like to see Ellen Page personally shes a hottie. Dont ask : ] but she looks to young.

I have to agree completely with Shaman. This isn't that bad, lol. Like THEHAWK, this is one of my favorite films series of all time. As a kid, me and my friends played Alien as often as we did X-Men.(I personally always liked getting tangled with a facehugger so I could become an Alien and hunt my friendly Colonial Marines) While I would rather see a part 5 myself, I will gladly take this reboot, though I don't think it should be called a reboot, as that suggest's to me that the originals were a failure(clearly not the case) so lets call it a jumpstart to the franchise. So calm down friends, lets at least wait and see who they cast as Ripley, as this cast has to be PERFECT, then, if the cast is unacceptable, let the shit fly.

Beckinsale and Biel aren't bad ideas, not great either, but not bad.

@Quagmire League of Etrordianry Gentalmen is a Dc title and made by WB.

@Myth, I think birdboy is a little obsessed on this series lol. But a rebbot won't be too bad, as long as Megan Fox isn't cast, even though she probably will be.

Jman--"kick that Alien's acid dripping jabroni jiving simple arse."

Hahhahahah. You are baiting us with that one!

I consider Ripley in these alien movies as having an uncommon beauty. I think Biel and Beckensale are too "in your face" with their hottness(cant believe I said that). I think the reboot needs a "strange" beauty. I'll come back with a pic.

At least Ridley Scotts involved, after all he did make the 1st one. It does suck they are rebooting this movie, im a major alien fan. charlize theron, Kate Beckinsale, arent bad, Rhona mitra, ect. It will be a hard decision. I cant see replacing sigourney weaver.
Spock
Spock - 5/28/2009, 2:26 PM
@ Shaman:I would have to disagree on the point doing a REboot like this is totally unnecessary for something as good as the Alien series. Granted it may not change the story line for the older verison, but it would give it a new face & a fresh beginining where they would for sure change it completely.

Perfect example: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner & Guess WHO. Both good movies but still different!!!!!!!!!
