The sci-fi showdown actioner "Alien vs. Predator" sold about 1.85 million combined DVD and VHS units Tuesday, its first day on store shelves, according to executives at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

While that figure doesn't set any home video industry records, it does mean that "AVP," starring Sanaa Lathan and Lance Henriksen, nearly matched its opening-weekend domestic boxoffice take of $38.3 million during its first 24 hours on retail shelves, according to industry sources.
