Jada Pinkett Smith is in negotiations to reprise the role of Niobe for The Matrix 4.

The Gotham actress did not appear in the first film, but joined the franchise as the tough-as-nails Captain of the Logos in The Matrix: Reloaded and Revolutions. Her character was the love interest of Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), who will reportedly be reintroduced with a younger actor (possibly Aquaman's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) in the role.

Pinkett Smith's deal has not been finalized, but we'll keep you guys updated on that front. 

Lana Wachowski, who co-wrote and co-helmed the original trilogy with her sister Lilly, will return to the director's chair, while Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will also be back as Neo and Trinity, respectively.

No release date has been announced for The Matrix 4 yet.

After the last 2 films, I just don't really care about the Matrix anymore but it'd be sweet if she returned. Niobe's badass.

I wonder if Will Smith will debut here somewhere. He's been talking a lot about how he regrets turning down the Matrix.

@TheRationalNerd - I was thinking the same thing. It'd be perfect if he played Jada's husband in the movie too lol but it probably wouldn't work because she's still into Morpheus.

Most overrated film trilogy ever. First movie was fine, but after that geese did the Wachowski's get full of themselves, with brainless plots that they tried to make sound deep with speeches that make no sense like this

Plus look at their movies post matrix, have they had any good ones. I guess you can say V For Vendetta, but that wasn't directed by them

I recently rewatched The Matrix, and man that movie is perfect. Those sequels are trash though. I hope the Wachowski sibling who is making this new movie gives us a film that’s more in keeping with the original movie, but man, I am not getting my hopes up.

One part of The Matrix that I really enjoyed was the Enter the Matrix game that featured Niobe and Ghost as the playable characters.

I actually hope that they make another Matrix game to tie into the new movie. A Matrix game with current game tech would be awesome.

@Necropolitan - I actually just looked up a video of it on YouTube and it looks terrible now lol! It was awesome at the time though but a Matrix game for current or next gen consoles would be awesome if done right.
