Warner Bros. Plotting A Reboot Of THE MATRIX; BLACK PANTHER's Michael B. Jordan May Star

While the sequels were widely considered disappointments, The Matrix is still thought of as a sci-fi classic. Well, prepare for it to get the reboot treatment as The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that a reboot is in the very early stages of development at Warner Bros. It's not clear what form this will take, but Zak Penn (Ready Player One) is currently in talks to write a treatment for the project.

The Wachowskis aren't involved in any way as of right now, though it sounds like the studio is hoping to get their blessing (and likely give them a couple of producer credits in the process).

The trade adds that original trilogy producer Joel Silver came up with the idea to reboot the franchise, but it's unlikely that Warner Bros. will want him to heavily involved due to the fact that, "he not only has a reputation for
budget-control issues but apparently has a strained relationship with the Wachowskis." It's said that an idea for TV series set in the world of The Matrix has been scrapped.

Something which could help increase your excitement in this potential project is the fact that Michael B. Jordan is being eyed to star, but talks in that respect are unlikely to begin until the project starts taking shape. He'd certainly be a pretty great fit to star as a young Morpheus, don't you think?

The Matrix is always looping itself. Destroy and rebirth. A reboot seems like an everyday occurrence.

Matrix 4 > Matrix Reboot

Ughhhhh The Matrix is a perfect film, a reboot could never live up to it....only its sequels.

Why not make something better than the Matrix? It wouldn't be difficult.

Cool. I liked the first one, but I don't think it's some untouchable paragon of film making like Back to the Future.
