In an interview with http://ifonlyuk.com/ actor Daniel Twiss (real name Daniel James), who plays one of the engineers in the film speaks out about one of the most mysterious scenes in the Prometheus trailer:

IfOnly: We have seen the virals, the teasers and the trailers. We have seen the alien life
forms and the spacecraft from Scott’s Alien. What information can you give us on
your character as the ‘Space Engineer’?

"Twiss: In the original Alien, the crew encounter the ‘Space Jockey’, now known as an ‘Engineer’
(the name for the alien race) however, as this is a semi-prequel, the ‘Engineers’
have a much bigger part to play. My character is that of a fairly young ‘Engineer’
who ritualistically sacrifices himself in the opening scene. This sacrifice is very different to
any others as I have to drink an ancient mix which causes my body to literally disintegrate
into the water around me. This then provides the first building blocks for new life to form
on the alien planet. There are two other ‘Engineers’ who are in the rest of the film and have
fairly large parts, but you will have to wait for release to find out more."

This could indeed be a massive spoiler, we all thought that it was David (Michael Fassbender) at the beginning of the waterfall scene in the trailer that was changing and morphing with the black veins rooting throughout his body. So if this is a sacrifice, who are the Space Jockeys sacrificing themselves for? Do the space jockeys answer to a higher power? This interview seemed to have raised more questions than answers.

With about two weeks left to go, the hype for Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" is reaching a fever pitch with more TV spots, interviews and featurettes than you can shake a facehugger at. I can't wait for it, with the recently released TV spot showcasing a tentacled monster, along with this startling revelatory interview, I am ready to see this now!

Prometheus Cast: Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron), Captain Janek (Idris Elba), Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green), Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace), and David (Michael Fassbender). The film is directed by Ridley Scott, and will hit theaters on June 8th, 2012!

I bet the alien eggs in ALIEN were suppost to be tranported to earth to use humans as hosts, that kinda fits in with this story as obvi the alien ship crashes in this film, but there is alot I dont get, like this bit? sacrificing? and the dude in this scene looked human like,so are those just biomechanical suits they wear that we have seen? and we have seen a xenomorph on some cieling in some trailer,we have see tenticles,we have seen a face hugger lookalike thing and now we have space jockeys, what the [frick] is going on! im confused to hell but Im defo going to see it as Im intrigued to [frick] too

Ouch. Not good to release secrets when you aren't allowed to, especially when you're essentially an extra who doesn't get to even show his face. It sounds like someone will never act in a movie again.
