According to The Hollywood Reporter, the returning cast members for Paramount's Star Trek 3 or Star Trek Beyond, have scored huge raises.  When the cast first signed up for 2009's Star Trek, they did so with an option for two sequels.  THR further reports that for the most part, Pine, Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin and John Cho did not recieve a  substantial raise from their initial contract for Star Trek Into Darkness, despite the usual Hollywood trend that stars recieve a big pay-raise if a film does well-enough to garner a sequel. In terms of salaray specifics, Chris Pine reportedly recieved $600,000 for the 2009 Star Trek film and $1.5 million for Into Darkness. For Star Trek Beyond, Pine is reportedly set to make a whoping $6 million dollars!

There's no specific intel on the pay raises for the other cast members but it's thought they also recieved hefty pay increases.

Personally, I think it's good paying them more to return. The past two films did really well at the box office, and the cast deserves it. Here's hoping we'll get to see more screen time for Chekov, Sulu, and Scotty....

Damn it Chris, you were supposed to join the Marvelverse. We no longer have 4Chris.

Hopefully BEYOND is better than THE WRATH OF KHAN INTO DARKNESS. Less Lindelof, Orci and Kurtzman helps.

I loved Into Darkness! Great to hear that number 4 is already in the pipeline. And with Pegg writing 3/Beyond (The title hasn't been confirmed, sp subject to change.) is just [frick]ing fantastic!

Transporter that work across the galaxy.
Two federation ships fight it out over the klingon home world and no one on the planet notices.
Magic death curing blood.
Dying of radiation poisoning and not even getting a sun tan.
The most secret black ops in starfleet history has ZERO security and scotty easily joins the convoy of shuttle craft even though he came from the opposite direction.
Kirk is fired in the morning. Pike is incapacitated/ dead by midday and kirk is back to being captain by the afternoon (again)
Hand held communicators reach accross the galaxy but the ships' communication array needs the ship to realign so they can get a signal to new vulcan. Wha?

If any universe needs a shared universe set up with spin-offs and what not, it's Star Trek for sure. The world needs more Star Trek right now.

Terminator Genisys has a 14% on RT based on 8 reviews so far.

So much for a restart to the franchise.

@hailhydra?

Are you serious?

Star trek is the original shared universe.

@JorL5150,

Of course I know that. I'm just saying that Star Trek needs to get with the recent trend of shared cinematic universes. Believe me, I know they had tons of crossover on TV. I've seen every series. But as far as movies are concerned, they've basically just had three separate franchises, with just a little bit of overlap in ST: Generations. If transformers is getting spinoff movies then Star Trek needs some spinoff movies. 4 years between Star Trek movies is way way too long when there isnt a current series on TV

I'm just one of those people who loves Into Darkness. It's gotta be one of my favorite films from recent history. Call me untrue to trek all you want but I watched the originals and some TV series. Into Darkness is the new era trek.
Simply can't wait for "Beyond"...

The cast was never the problem with these new Trek movies. Hopefully the removal of Orci, Kurtzman, and, yes, JJ Abrams means the third movie will actually be great.

I'm still hesitant because Abrams isn't directing. The man hasn't made a bad movie yet.

@Starfox I'm with you. I love Into Darkness. My favorite of all the Star Trek films. My favorite film of that summer in fact. I look at the good critic's scores and viewer's scores for that movie and then I see some the hate around here and it confuses me.

grif - 6/26/2015, 10:11 AM
i wish the movie was about them encountering Q. and at the end he sets thing back to the way they should be. then the 5th movie would be in the next gen era.

i am really tired of this cast.

Starfox - 6/26/2015, 10:17 AM
@DallasAvenger

Same here. I was so confused by all the hate the film was receiving that I had to actually look into why a select majority were against it. I still don't completely understand lol.

@Starfox @DallasAvenger

If you guys are up for a bit of reading and don't mind ALL CAPS, I strongly recommend reading (or at least bookmarking it to read later) Film Crit Hulk's piece about Into Darkness. He uses the movie to talk about a larger issue with film, so it's not like he's reviewing the movie or anything. But it's a fantastic read that pretty much spells out why so many people had problems with the movie, and it's pretty eye-opening too.

@SauronsBANE

Thanks! I'll check this out. I needed to hear a good breakdown about the film. Most of the one's i've come accross seem to focus on silly things like Lens Flares and physics lol.
SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 6/26/2015, 10:39 AM
@Starfox Haha yeah, a lot of people like to focus on the absolute dumbest stuff instead of talking about the actual problems in a movie. Trust me, this article isn't anything like that. It goes crazy in-depth and uses the core flaws in Into Darkness to make a point about most movies today. Most of the stuff he talks about here actually can apply to so many other ones, too. I can't recommend it enough!
