Exciting New Footage In These Latest TV Spots For STAR TREK BEYOND; Alternate Timeline Officially Named

The first of these Star Trek Beyond TV spots features quite a bit of new footage and dialogue from the movie, while the others are basically just shorter versions of the previous trailers - though they do also contain some previous unseen shots here and there.

In addition, it's now been confirmed that the alternate timeline introduced in J.J. Abrams' 2009 reboot will be known as the Kelvin Timeline after the starship that was destroyed by Nero (Eric Bana) in the opening scene of the film. James Kirk's father (Chris Hemsworth) was killed that day, which ultimately led to his rebellious son joining Starfleet to see if he could live up to his legacy.

After stopping off at Starbase Earhart, a remote outpost on the fringes of Federation space, the USS Enterprise, halfway into their five-year mission, is destroyed by a powerful, unstoppable wave of unknown aliens. With the crew stranded on a unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy who has a well-earned hatred of the Federation and what it stands for.

Star Trek Beyond reunites Jon Cho, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoë Saldana, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin, with Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, Lydia Wilson, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Joe Taslim joining the cast.

The movie hits theaters on 22nd July, 2016.

I saw the latest trailer before ID42. The shot of Scotty on the cliff is still awful but the tone seems like it could be alright. I couldn't stand Into Darkness so I'll probably like the levity this one is bringing.

IIRC "Kelvin" is the name of JJ Abrams' uncle, and JJ always inserts his name into his movies for tradition. In Star Trek it was Kirk Sr.'s ship. In Super 8 it was the name of a convenience store attacked by the monster. In Force Awakens it's a geographical location: Rey tells BB-8 to head in the direction of Kelvin ridge.

So JJ has one lucky Uncle.

Anyone reckon that at the end of the movie they will be in the Enterprise-A?

I honestly hope the next Star Trek movie doesn't pull a "Blues Brothers 2000" with Anton Yelchin by killing off Chekov.

For those who don't know John Belushi and Cab Calloway were both in Blue Brothers, but passed away before the sequel. So their solution... KILL OFF THEIR CHARACTERS!!! I'm depressed that these guys are gone, I don't want their characters I love to be gone too.

That's what I don't want them to do with Star Trek.
