Idris Elba Is Looking Forward To Going Head-To-Head With 'Spock' In STAR TREK BEYOND

After being linked to the role for months on end, Idris Elba has finally opened up a little about playing the villain in Justin Lin's Star Trek Beyond. Briefly touching on his love for the popular sci-fi franchise, Elba revealed which character he's most looking forward to sharing scenes with.

It turns out Idris Elba is a big Star Trek fan. "Almost everyone was a Trekkie, really, weren't they?" Elba asked British newspaper Metro, before adding, "I wouldn't say I was a hardcore one but I definitely watched that show a million times." The talented Brit was recently confirmed to be playing the villain in Justin Lin's upcoming threequel - officially titled Star Trek Beyond.

Speaking openly about his inclusion for the first time, Elba refrained from dropping any major story details regarding his enigmatic role. However, he did reveal that his villain would be sharing scenes with the franchise's most iconic character.
"Spock was probably my favourite character," the actor claimed, "And in this one I have some scenes with Zachary Quinto."

Having briefly appeared in a small role in JJ Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, many fans believe that the Klingons will have a villainous part to play in next year's sequel. However, the movie's co-writer Simon Pegg has since claimed that the Luther star will not be playing a Klingon. You know, just like how Benedict Cumberbatch was not playing Khan in Into Darkness... Regardless of which character he's portraying, it's exciting to see an actor of Elba's caliber on board the project.

Star Trek Beyond will hit theatres 8 July, 2016 - just in time to commemorate the beloved sci-fi franchise's 50th Anniversary.

Here's another actor that Marvel wishes they did use on a throw away role. Don't get me wrong, Heimdal is pretty BA, but there has to be a better role for him somewhere in the MCU.

I really hope he ends up playing Jon in the future. That would be hella cool if Pine and Elba both continued to work together in Green Lantern......well I can dream can't I?

FOR REAL STOP F-ING AROUND AND MAKE IDRIS ELBA THE NEW BLADE!!
Make Garrett Hedlund the new Ghost Rider… Also can add DD and Punisher to make a full on assault team
and lets get a full on Night Stalkers going.
Bring in Nightmare, Morbius, and a good Blackheart for them to battle.

I've been a fan of the previous two Star Trek movies and thought the villains were all oustanding - Bana, Cumerbatch, Harris - Adding Elba to the list only makes me happier.

I wasn't very happy with the last one and would not have been troubled at all if I never saw another Star Trek movie...but with the changes of directors and writers for this new one I can honestly say I'm really excited to see Star Trek Beyond...especially with the inclusion of a great actor like Idris Elba I am so there.

@slickrickdesigns None of those are Actors that played 2 different characters in the Marvel Studios Universe.Ralph Garman said it's in the contract, once your a character you're that character or you're out Chris Evens doesn't count that was Fox.

Love that whether u loved or hated STID no one here can remember that Peter Weller's Admiral Marcus was the villain and Khan was just misunderstood... Or a psychopath... It wasn't clear in the story because it was written by monkeys.
