What if they rebooted this TV series? How could they do the original justice?

Some people say that even the thought of rebooting Star Trek:The Next Generation is blasphemy. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest science fiction series of all time. Most of today's younger generation grew up watching it live, or in syndication, and it has become just as nostalgic to them as the original Star Trek was for the generations before.
In my opinion, if a good reboot can be done with anything, it can be done with this. Quite like 2009 theatrical reboot of the original series, this could turn out to be a success if handled correctly. Here is my idea on how to make it work, along with a fan-cast for the younger crew..

First off I think the first few episodes they should bring back the original cast, except for the deceased ones in the series, like Data, and Tasha.
The Federation has fallen to dark times. After the destruction of The Borg Queen by Voyager, the collective retreated, and increased their numbers. After which They acquired a new queen, and mounted a full scale assault on the Federation.
At the start of the series The Borg has been able to assimilate most of the federations planets, and Earth is soon to fall.
On top of this Admiral Picard has died of old age. Q once again appears to Picard in the afterlife offering to him another chance relive the events of his life, this time to stop the Borg...

This time Picard decides to take the offer...

Fan-Cast

James Marsters as Jean-Luc Picard

Zachary Levi as William T. Riker

Matthew Macfadyen as Data

Edi Gathegi as Geordi La Forge

Wood Harris as Worf

Elisha Cuthbert as Tasha Yar

Rebecca Hazlewood as Deanna Troi

Julianne Moore as Beverly Crusher

Chris O'Dowd as Miles O'Brien

Callan McAuliffe as Wesley Crusher

Christopher Heyerdahl as Q

That's it, Thanks for reading..

Wood Harris is an excellent choice! He played Jimi Hendrix a while back too...

Harris and Hazlewood are perfect. Marsters has the voice to do a great Picard. Real good.
@Autobot-No one can top JJ abhrams cast. But it would be nice to see another version of the classics

Even though he's an AMERICAN JAMES MARSTERS
does a badass British accent but he's too
young to play PICARD, although he would
kill at the part. Even if Q brought back
PICARD he should be the age of the PICARD at
the beginning of "THE NEXT GENERATION".

ZACHARY LEVI has the same problem playing
RYKER, too young for the part.

The rest of the cast is great, especially
ELISHA CUTHBERT!

@DDD thanks man..I do agree that Zachary Levi years too young for Riker. But he does look a lot like a young Jonathan Frakes, even without the beard. James Marsters on the other hand, is the exact same age that Patrick Stewart was in the first season of Next Generation. He is 49, although he doesn't look it.

Why not make it the next generation to the alternate reality of the 2009 Trek film...

certainly the alterations of Kirk's Enterprise years would ripple throughout time. There for you can have a new Next Gen without trampling all over the original

Or do a Next Next Generation 75 years after the original Next Generation Series'

@Autobot, they did its going to be in movie form... maybe after they do 3 or 4 New Trek movies they will do a show based on that crew with different actors because I;m sure budgeting won't work with what some of those movie actors will want
