The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the Terminator franchise is heading back to television (the last effort - The Sarah Connor Chronicles - concluded four years ago). The fifth instalment of the movie franchise is set to be released on July 1st, 2015 from Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor. Written by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, the TV series "will follow a critical moment from the first Terminator film (1984) and, where the film's story goes one way, the upcoming series will take the same moment in a completely different direction. As the rebooted film trilogy and the new TV series progress, the two narratives will intersect with each other in some surprising and dramatic ways." As for the movie, they add that "Schwarzenegger will reprise his famed role in the new trilogy that is described as a time-spanning story that sees him tasked to protect Sarah Connor as she grows up." How do you guys feel about this news?

They just need to continue Sarah Connor Chronicles. I'm done with the Terminator movies. T1, T2, and SCC is all there is in my headcanon.

Terminator SCC was very underrated and was canceled right in the middle of a HUGE cliffhanger I just want some closure even if its only for one episode:( It was of the best Sci-Fi shows of the decade, and deserves at least that.

Can we all just forget 3 and Salvation ever happened and leave the series alone?

Let this franchise die in peace! I don't want some old ass Arnie robot and tie in shows. They will never surpass T2.

Can't wait to see a rusty old robot fight off a T-5000 in a 45 minute climatic battle of Cgi, throwing out shitty old 80's lines.

The man is close to 70! He needs to give it up! You can tie salvation, which I actually liked a lot, into more movies by having Sam Worthington play the new terminator and he goes back to when Sara was a kid to protect her or just keep going with the war against the machines. I feel as if all this talk about the future in the movies yet it's never really shown!

@Monkey I always thought the movie was horrible since John Conner felt more like a cameo and Sam was the main focus. Atleast that movie did try to make a decent Terminator film.

Dumb. Let's reboot a classic scifi story and one of the best sequels ever. And then tell the story in a completely different way and also have a tv show which won't be related to the other good tv show that no one watched (I did).

Wait I got it. Let's just steal marvels idea of having tv shows and movies set in the same cinematic universe. No... Please. It's not even working all that well for marvel. I just hope this isn't how every movie/tv show/franchise is going to do it from now on....

First the MCU, then DCU. ok that's fine. Amazing Spider-Man...go ahead try. It probly won't work but you can try by infusing as many villains as you can into the rest of your movies. But then fox thinks they can do it with xmen/fantastic four. And now terminator???

I guess this is the new copycat league...

How the hell is Schwarzenegger going to reprise his role? Cyberdyne Systems model 101, OLD living tissue over metal endoskeleton.

@Moneyballs When that movie came out I always thought John Conner would be the main focus, so when I finally did see it I was pissed he was more of a secondary role. Not sure what made the movie worst but I defiantly did not care for sam and is arc in the film.

There's no charm with Arnold/The T-800 being another good/protector Terminator. The reason why it worked so damn well in the second was because in the first film The T-800 was a killing machine on the hunt for Sarah Connor to prevent the existance of John Conner at all costs. At the start of the second another model is sent back in addition to another Terminator and both are on the hunt for John. You presume they're both out to kill him, Skynet this time sending two models instead of one, a drastic attempt to ensure it's survival.

Then during the scene where both Terminators catch up to John you get a complete 180 turn. That's why you're shocked when The T-800 suddenly says to John "Get down" and saves his life from the T-1000 when you expected it to kill him.

@Ocelot Hollywood don't care about the important stuff. Just look at the Die Hard franchise, they have no idea what made the first one amazing.

Okay... I love the Terminator franchise, but seriously????

They gave us a movie series that had two crappy movies... especially that crapfest Salvation. AND they gave us a great show that they cancelled with a cliffhanger.

NOW you want us to get wrapped up into a new series and a new series of movies? great
